Reno 2005 Rare Bear practice and qualifying

John Penney and the Rare Bear team were back again in 2005 to defend their Gold championship win. They started the week off on top by qualifying in the number one position at 470 mph.

She was something to see in person while at full power, especially when they ran her with the 3 blade Orion propeller.

we were there , i forgot the bear had its flaps wired shut , right to save weight?

She was built up years ago with the flaps blended into the wing. So no gaps to reduce drag
