- The Manhattan Bridge crosses the East River in NYC less than 1/2 mile upstream from the Brooklyn Bridge. While not nearly as famous as its neighbor, this bridge is just as spectacular in appearance and has been in service since 1909.

God I freakin love the Manhattan Bridge!
When you enter the bridge towards Brooklyn, there was also a highway that was originally called the Lower Manhattan Expressway (aka LOMEX). It was first planned to connect I-78 and I-478 to the Holland Tunnel and Williamsburg Bridge. That project was canned, only the abandoned structuring to the Brooklyn entrance of the Manhattan Bridge remains.
Was there ever a highway idea to connect the manhattan bridge to the marine park bridge?
God I love this bridge!
BTW, this bridge was designed by Leon Moisseiff, the guy who built the Golden Gate Bridge, Bayonne Bridge, Triborough (aka Robert Kennedy) Bridge, Ben Franklin Bridge, George Washington Bridge, Whitestone Bridge and the ill-fated original Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka Galloping Gertie) where it opened in 1940 and ends in a disaster that same year where the bridge collapsed due to high winds. Manhattan Bridge was the first of Leon Moisseiff's well-known designed bridges.
Also the Verranzano Narrows!!! Longest suspension bridge in the Western hemisphere
Um no
It was that Othman guy
I have taken a big school bus, an N train, a Q train and a D train over this bridge. the D from atlantic avenue barclays center to grand street. the N from canal street to atlantic avenue paccific street and the Q from canal street to decalb avenue
did anybody know flatbush avenue goes from the manhattan bridge all the way to kings plaza
Yes and it goes all the way to Marine Park Bridge and The Rockaways which also leads to Nassau Expressway and the Alantic Beach bridge. Frankly, they could have built a highway between westside highway and the holland tunnel to the atlantic beach bridge.
@dsandeman i doubt that i will. i just wrapped up filming everything in NYC that i wanted to film so it doesn't look like it...
roadwaywiz home
oh i was going to the new york transit museum in brooklyn and we took this deck and the opposite way to school PS 112
That place is over 100 years old
It’s older than that, the land was already here before NYC was even settled
