  • This is what happens when too many ricers unite for a track day at Laguna Seca. Also, Seigo and I both set new personal records at Laguna in our AP1 and AP2 S2000s. Skip to 7:08 for the side-by-side.

    AP1 vs AP2 side-by-side best lap begins at 7:08

    The Ap2 seemed to be smoother over all. It looked to have a better flow through the corners with less understeer and less dramatic oversteer, like your tires, rear as well, seemed to be exaggerating your car's push and breakaway characteristics. It'd be pretty neat to see how these two fair with the same tires, maybe a little wheel/tire swap action down the road.

    Can you post a video of one soup base vs another soup base, would you run a dual hot pot set up? What dipping techniques maximizes food to mouth?

    Cool side-by-side footage! It’s crazy to see how much of a difference the head mounted cam gives more of a sense of speed!

    Ap1 nailed that corner at 8:07. A little more and I bet it would snap oversteer!!!

    At the beginning, looks like the back end got nice and loose under braking, causing the oversteer. Wish I was in warmer weathers, would be putting my Prelude, Type R and S2000 on the track, track time for DAYS!

    "This is the fobiest track day ever" at 1:29 got me good.

    Wow, you guys know how to do it with the hot pot! Great video. That track is #1 on my bucket list. Don't know how I'm gonna get my car out there, though. I'm on the other side of the country :/

    Awesome video!
    Recently joined the S2K community by purchasing a yellow ‘07 AP2. So many questions...but my first one is Can you tell me what GPS Unit and Mounting Bracket you are using for the lap times?

      Welcome to the club! I'm using an AIM Solo 1st gen for timing and a Modifry phone mount bracket with a generic air vent magnet mount screwed on. Works great.

    Looks like fun! I'd love to drive that track, but it's ~2,000 miles away. D'oh!

    Yo! Again congrats on the PB! Before you do any sus setting changes maybe figure out your tire pressure. I'd try running Npsi for the fronts and 1-1.5 psi less in the rear.

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  6 лет назад

      Less pressure in the rear? Wouldn't that just induce more understeer?

    LOL at the hot pot! What suspension setup is Seigo running...stiffer than 14/12?

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  6 лет назад

      +dreamdrivedrift HKS Hipermax IV SP comes with 16k/16k springs. Seems to help the car rotate better than my Ohlins.

    So what’s the verdict? What are your thoughts based on ap1 vs ap2 on track from yours and seigo

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  6 лет назад +2

      AP2 gearing keeps the engine in the powerband better but requires more shifting. AP2 is more stable. AP1 is a little harder to drive but still nearly as fast.

    Does your AP1 burn oil after a track day? If so how much? Looking for a comparison to mine

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  6 лет назад +1

      It varies. Some times it burns 1 quart in 2x20 min sessions. This last time it didn't even burn 1 quart in 80 min of driving.

      Awesome thanks for the info. I have checked my oil religiously since I purchased my AP1 and mine sounds pretty similar to yours from touge runs, haven't got a chance to drive it on a track yet unfortunately being i bought it in September and I'm on the east coast. I burn about 2-3 5ths of a quart after an hour of really hard driving so sounds pretty similar. I know theres several reasons the f20c slurps oil but I've also been told my rings need replaced because of the consumption rate but i keep hearing from other AP1 owners it seems pretty normal.

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  6 лет назад

      +koo08 Didn't seem too bad since I drove it another 2 sessions. I was off pace by 1.5 seconds so maybe the alignment went slightly out of spec.
