I would argue its different there was more 99+ rated boxers in their prime healthy in Tysons prime era at least eight legit.
More than then Micheal with one Hakem really because the big man did an Aurelian and nerfed the Celtics from having the most dominate sports team ever with several perfect seasons with a Bird, Bias, Lewis, Pearce dynasty and a few other guys.
But still he's asking to fight blue collar ballers like Cripple bird, Stockton, the entire bad boys, the pacers, the spurs and more, Micheal isn't the problem you will only face him a few times a year it's the fact your facing real men playing like real men, 80/90s basketball is closer to an arena event then the modern NBA one of those hundreds of "unskilled" guys were going to firm those hands up and make you work for it.
I would rather play against Jordan a 99+ more than Stockton every day he might be "easier" but he's the Dustin Poirier of basketball or David Robinson who I'm still convinced is Sargent Johnson the second most powerful charter in halo.
Ant doesn't know what he's asking for and looking for smoke in the wrong places, due to the nature of seventh dimensional physics, infinity and the after ant might have to back those words up and it might be at a huge cost lol.

Don't even get me started on flat earthers, anti-vaxxers, etc. And the fact that pretty much everyone has access to the whole of human knowledge at their fingertips, just makes it that much worse. You’re laughing at casuals, but there’s nothing more casual than the narrative that Luka and Jokic aren’t “athletic”. There’s a lot more to athleticism than how fast someone runs or how high they jump. Those guys are incredibly athletic with the level of strength and body control they have

@@kingdeedeeJokic definitely isn't athletic 😂😂😂😂and if someone say that some player isn't soo "athletic", he doesn't mean it in general, in general Luka is much more athletic than any other normal person, for normal person it is miracle to be athletic like Luka. But, when you compare him with NBA players, YES, HE IS MY FAVOURITE PLAYER AND GOD DAMN HE IS NOT THAT ATHLETIC LIKE ALL BEST PLAYERS IN THE LRAGUE. He isn't more athletic than Jayson Tatum, Edwards is miles more athletic than him, Ja is also miles more athletic than him, even Lebron at 39 years of age is still faster, stronger and can jump higher than Luka. Abd Jokic is even less athletic than Luka... And in the end of the day, the point isn't if Luka and Jokic are athletic players or not, the point is that they are not dominating the league because of their athleticism, but because THEY ARE EXTREMELY SMART AND SKILLED. Simply their domination doesn't come from their athleticism, no matter the fact if they are considered as athletic or nine athletic players... Athleticism isn't the reason why they dominate the league, it's their IQ and their basketball skills.

    • @kingdeedee
      @kingdeedee 2 месяца назад +3

@@hristijandimitrovski8664 you wrote all that just to prove my point: you don't have even the slightest clue what athleticism actually is. Jokic's ability to hit ridiculous shots in the faces of extremely strong and physical big men defenders in the NBA is not just a matter of him being skilled. He's REALLY REALLY strong and has a deceptive amount of body control for his size. The ability to turn and contort his body to make ridiculous shots under duress requires INSANE physical conditioning. That is raw athleticism. Not to mention Jokic might be one of the best conditioned players in the NBA. Not just considering big men, I really mean everyone. Other players have even said it and Draymond said himself that Jokic is deceptively quick and he struggled to keep up defending him for a whole game.
If you watch Luka (your favourite player), look at the way he can dribble the ball against some of the most physical hounding defense you'll ever see and remain composed. Yeah he has a good handle, but the ability to remain upright and stay in control of your direction to get where you wanna go on the court isn't just a matter of how good his ball handling is, it takes insane strength as well.
If you wanna just say they they're not fast or explosive, you can definitely say that. But to say these guys aren't athletic? Conditioning, body control and stability and so many other things go into athleticism. There are definitely faster and more explosive players who I would argue are less athletic overall than Luka or Jokic.

There’s a real danger for all fans to say that previous eras and subsequent eras are not as good. Fans have egos just as much as any player. We cannot get caught up in tying our self-worth into an opinion of a time or a player. The game constantly changes in methodology, philosophy, movement, coaching, training, equipment, statistics, franchises, sports medicine, etc. Dolph Schayes does not pass the current eye test, but Anthony Edwards will never retire as the all-time scoring champion.
I think it hurts all fans to have a current player denigrate their favorite era of the game. I think we would all love to hear current players say that they are grateful for those who have gone before. Pleased to be part of the legacy, big gun with the first players in the league, handed off to the players during the integration of the league, continued through the downtimes of the competing leagues, brought to new heights during the 80s and 90s, and then being the game, which is the current players viewed through the 2000s.
Maybe the players of the 70s looked down upon the players from the 40s and 50s. I wouldn’t know anything about that. I don’t think they had microphones in front of their faces 24/7. I don’t know what Jordan thought about Pistol Pete. I don’t know what Kobe thought about Alex English. I don’t know what Nikola Jokić thinks about Artis Gilmore. I just want current players to be appreciative of what they have. The universe did not begin on the day Ant-man was born.

When you say that there are a lot of similarities with Jordan I beg to differ. Jordan had an insane competitive drive where Edwards basically faded and quit in game 5 against the Mavs. Jordan did a lot of trashtalking, but not on the sidelines like Edwards. Jordan knew his history and praised those who came before him. Edwards is a dumb, ungrateful, spoiled brat who thinks basketbal started with him. Jordan was gracious in defeat, always shaking hands with the opponent, while Edwards threw chairs and ran to the locker room like his idol LeBron. So I see much more similarities with the latter.

Another Banger Jonny. My basketball kindred spirit, you are *yoda voice* I, too, was not upset or annoyed at his comments. It actually just made me really sad to hear. I thought about the time when we were kids... and how much we revered and sought out the knowledge of previous generations of basketball players. I know you watched all the tape your pops had.. I wasn't as fortunate so I'd go to my school library and try to find every & any basketball book I could find. Obvi, I never saw guys like Wilt play (there wasn't youtube back then, heck or even NBATV) so I had to read all about him in books. I was fascinated with the stories about the players that my favorite players idolized. That's how I knew who David Thompson was. Bc of reading up on MJ.
I begged my mom to buy me the basketball books at the book fair. I must've read em like 1000x, front to back. After this AE Thing, I started thinking back on how when the NBA50 list came out I tried to digest as much as I could and learn about all the greats. Now, these guys openly admit that they don't even watch the previous generations (when all they have to do is a quick youtube search...) It's just disappointing. I don't want to sound like the old guy on the lawn but man. it just sucks to see the lack of appreciation for the guys who made this possible for him... Bird & Magic esp. - basketball GODS. To flat out openly sh*t on them just plain sucks. I hope he educates himself at some point. He's too good and too talented to not even bother.

This is because we weren't able to constantly search out and get highlights from the 60s at will. You basically had to go find old film or be lucky to catch an old game on a classic viewing channel.
There wasn't any social media constantly comparing the eras. People talked about what they knew and what they were able to watch which was 90s/80s basketball. Don't get me wrong there were still old heads back in the 90s. There were also people trashing the 60s but it was a minority voice. So this comment is about american, being a ignorant american around other americans. Now let's get this started, the anthony edwards said, that doesn't believe nobody from the 1980s and 90s was skilled, but ask him about street ball who went against michael jordan & ask does he know who the david copperfield of basketball booger smith is & I bet you he doesn't know who is, ask him who micheal ray richardson is & he doesn't know who is he is, ask him who dejan bodiroga is, he won't know who is & mostly because the man does I expected fans & players of today usually do, all talk about the rules and how the game was played & don't really focus on said players or there names, just care about how they play, that's more important than knowing said player & what they did. Also you gonna love that edwards says mj, but even michael jordan wouldn't say anything like this to players from the 1970s of the nba and aba or players from the 1960s when we watching college basketball and wanting to go to north carolina. Mostly probably because these don't truly know how good and luxurious they have it, these black athletes make so much cash today, you can make 500k while being a 2 way player and make millions just while being a bench warmer.

This reminds me of a discussion I had earlier this year, I think around when the POs were still going on.
I'm a 34 years old guy, so I can't say I saw all of Pat Ewing's career live, but I did catch some of his final really good years and as someone who is a beat of a freak of basketball history like jonny, I have watched most of his most important or best games through tape.
My discussion was with a guy who's likely around 24-25 years old. He was talking about how Wembanyama would be dominating in the 90s. Up to that point I don't really have that many issues with the comment because I do think Wemby is a freak who would do well in any era... but I really joined (and maybe kinda usurped) the conversation when he said centers could barely play in the 90s (of all positions, he went and choosed centers) with the exception of Olajuwon, saying especifically that Ewing had no skill and could barely dribble the ball.
I'm not even a Knicks fan or espefically an Ewing fan, but that did kinda trigger me. I do think Wemby has everything to become a historically better player than Ewing, but trating Ewing as if he was just a big body felt so wrong. Ewing had a ton of skills, and a prime Ewing would absolutely demolish rookie Wemby in the post.
Anyways, don't wanna expand much on Wemby vs Ewing, but my point is how even Ewing's game is kinda lost in time since he didn't manage to really win. Thankfully, Olajuwon is still appreciated overall, but Olajuwon is great in great part because of going against guys like Ewing, Alonzo, Admiral, and even guys like Shaq and Kareem. Also makes me wonder what would the general perception be had the Knicks won that Game 7 in 1994 (I mean, I would still think Hakeem is the better player, but would be fun to imagine how things would change because of one single game).
Anyways, it's cool to watch Ant, he does have that swag on the court and makes an effort in both sides of the court, but he really, really should've stopped at "I can't speak on it", that would've been so respected, accepted and ultimately correct.
If basketball back in the day was so much worse, Lebron would've averaged 40-20-20 in his rookie year or he would be out of the league by now, yet he was a very good rookie (who, btw, didn't win anything for almost 10 years) and can still compete against this generation as a 39 years old man.
The way the game has changed a lot, but the talent of the league has pretty much always been there.

Tbh I kinda feel like the movement of being done with the 90s and the older generations of players being unskilled really originated as pushback. In the past so many analysts, reporters etc. have been quick to dismiss the new generation of players and say they wouldn't survive if they played in the 80s or 90s. I think the young people got so sick of it that they just decided to match it. Doing the same thing many oldheads are doing but the other way around

The game has never been more open than now, and they can all carry, and travel to their hearts content, compared to back in the day... That's enough right there. Sums up this era of ball. Yet they try to call out ball back in the day for not doing the same moves they can now...

    Agree with Ant.
    90's players couldn't make a "good" layup/dunk after taking 4-5 steps.
That is "SKILL". Skill not to be called by the refs.

Basketball fans will get over this comment from Ant because some other player will say something worse or on the same level and the fans will go to that person 😂
Honestly it’s not a huge deal because it’s a Ant comment that can be over exaggerated or too cocky

this reminded me of Noah Lies saying he didn’t know who Giannis or Jokic were. so you don’t know the two best basketball players in the world and yet you wanna diss them with the whole “world champion of what” debate (considering his antics should be directed at the US media members….you know the ones who say “world champion”).

He would be called for traveling almost every time he dribbled. Rules were enforced differently back then and he would have to adjust HIS game, not the other way around. Happened to AI as a rookie.

Context matters. I have been to more places in the US than Lewis and Clark, am I a better explorer? Of course not. I'm able to follow the trails that were made long before I was. Same thing with basketball, were skills more rudimentary in earlier decades, of course, but they didn't have 75 years of game film and analysis to look back on. Therefore, those players are just as great, because they blazed the tails for modern players to follow.

@@youtubeisassho8834 You do realize that I'm not lying right think of it, how Shaq constantly slanders Rudy Gobert or his jealousy towards Jokic, think of when Rasheed Wallace said that Lebron couldn't play in his era even though Lebron pretty much started his career then, Dennis Rodman saying that he would easily lock up Lebron, Charles Oakley saying that Giannis would've been a benchwarmer in his era you really think all these didn't contribute to the modern fans hating that era?
