Me too. But Britain is better today than it was back then. People have better quality of life. It’s just a shame that we’ve gotten lazy at engineering And Concorde was part French
Marvelous video. As an American aviation enthusiast I had the privilege of seeing the Concorde many times at JFK New York. I remember thinking that it looks like it’s doing Mach 2 just sitting there. I also told people who asked that the Concorde taking off was the closest sound to a rocket. Thank you, Britain and France for providing some of the most spectacular plane spotting I ever saw. 👍❤️
@@joshs4594 sound of a rocket. Yes! I lived 10 miles straight from Liverpool airport, and if I wasn’t actually at the airport when Concorde was there (for Aintree) I could feel the vibrations in my chest as it took off… 10 Miles away!
@@peter-e2q I had a similar experience. I was at Jones Beach on the south shore of Long Island, about 29 miles due east of JFK Airport. Concorde took off in the opposite direction from my location and I heard the afterburners very clearly. The ground was rumbling. The power, even from that distance, was incredible.

We all know the curtains close for the final time at some point but it’s a crying shame there was never a replacement waiting in the wings. So glad to have seen three icons flying - the Vulcan the Harrier and Concorde ✈️
It was so beautiful. And watched it several times at Heathrow. I live in Cornwall in the UK and remember Wednesday evenings hearing the sonic booms as it went supersonic over the English Channel. Wonderful memories
They should have kept at least 2 flying. I guarantee it would always have been full as it was such an iconic plane. I remember looking out of the living room window almost daily at around 5-6pm waiting for her to come in.
This aircraft was conceived and designed in the 50's and 60's. It was and remains a triumph of British enginuity and engineering. Never forget that we did this, it was a triumph and no one has come even close to this since. It was an engineering marvel
^^^ Magnificent overall general shots of Britain's//Frances' most beautiful airliner ever As an avid a/c photographer myself, I'd always go for THE best angles, devoid of traffic But in THIS instance (for me) it just amplifies the poignancy of the situation (last flight) Glad you captured this moment for all time & it's 20 years ago now to the same week Kinda left me misty-eyed watching it - The audio capture just adds greatness to it !!
This was the first day in the history of aviation that we took a backward step, no more supersonic passenger transport. It's such a shame, you can see and hear what Concorde meant to everyone. I wa lucky enough to see this very flight as it was routing back towards Filton, it was a strange feeling knowing it was the last time Concorde would ever fly.
I went inside it! They have one in New York. The plane was smaller than expected. The cockpit looked awesome. The passenger windows were so small. Humans are amazing to create such a craft.
😮Had me in tears. Built at a time of optimism and when things improving at a fast pace. Very sad all we have left is aircraft which are anodyne and boring by comparison 😢
I don't care what they come up with regarding a supersonic aircraft. There will only be one Concorde and nothing, in my life time, will ever reach its majesticness. There are some in the making but none will reach the level Concorde did IMO.
Completely agree. I flew Concorde once, from Bahrain to London, it was absolutely wonderful. There was a hell of a lot of jealousy surrounding Concorde I think, especially from America, I'm sorry to say.
My last flight by Concorde in March 2003 ( I flew on it several times on the LHR/JFK route through the '90s and into the 2000s) was on G-BOAF, seat 3A. Actually, the BA Concs were making a huge profit - it was the AF flights that failed to make money and, with Airbus being heavily influenced by the AF management at the French government of the time, Airbus as the successor to the manufacturing companies, withdrew the type certificate out of spite
@@miguelsuarez8010 there is no profit if operating costs are higher, that's a loss, as I said B.A were making a profit until the French pulled the plug, forcing them to do the same because they could not go it alone with the operating costs.
