I think you may have landed Skil a sale, I was on the fence between this and the comparable WEN, but Skil has upped their game so much lately (their table saw, router, and miter saw are all fantastic,) that I'm gonna stick with them. thank you for the review!
I'm having issues with mine. The "table" moves from side to side, even tough I have tightened it to the maximum amount. It's definitely not stable enough for serious projects. Any thoughts on what might be wrong? Again, I tightened the clamp very tight.
The laser is nice I guess, but pretty easy to line it up without it which you had already done with your pointed drill bit :) I'll use it with a large forstner bit to make a level spot in a half-log to create a spot to mount a lathe faceplate to for bowl turning. Then use my bandsaw to rough out the half log's ends into a circular shape so there isn't so much material to remove with a roughing gouge on the lathe.
I've been adding tools. I saw how inexpensive the WEN is, I've been looking at that. But then I saw the Skil. I have a Skil table saw I love. I think I'd rather have this than the Wen
finally a review of this tool .. thanks a lot.. i personally love the SKIL brand and choose this one instead of a WEN. it,s a shame they do not make Benchtop planers though.. great video !
There's a little knob just under the lid latch. You loosen that knob and push the motor in, which loosens the belt tension. Do the reverse after moving the belt.
I picked it up this past weekend on amazon for $110 and I'm suitably impressed with it. It's not a shopfox or a jet by any means, but I don't need it to be. It was square out of the box, there's none of the crazy vibration that a lot of the reviews complain about (I'm thinking user error, personally) and even the laser was perfectly aligned. It'll do what I need to to do, and that's what matters.
I just bought one of these and assembly went fine until it was time to move the motor forward to release the belt tension. My motor won't budge and I have the tension knob very loose. Guess I will have to call customer service for help.
Customer Service was somewhat confused too. What he suggested and what I would have probably done anyway is to loosen the two bolts on the left side (looking at it) that hold the motor to the housing. That helped a lot and I was able to move the belt to the correct pulleys for the speed I wanted. I think I'm going to like this drill press.
I just assembled this model and I see that the vertical rack is a little wobbly when you loosen the column lock and raise or lower your table. It tightens back once you lock the column again.
What's the first project you use this on? Would you make any changes to it?
Looks just like my Harbor Freight Bauer 10 inch 6.2 amp.

You bet! I have a project to use this drill press on very soon.
Bought this Press-drill because of your very precise explanation. Thank you.🤗
Mine has worked out well for me. I'm looking forward to some projects with it.
Awesome video just subbed
Thank, I appreciate it!😎👍

Nice work! I got one that says 10” but only go as deep as 2”. How do I get more than 2”?
Looks exactly like the Harbor Freight 10”

Yeah the laser is pretty cool, but your comments make sense.
I wonder how it handles metal? I am considering a desktop drill press and Skil is on the list along with the Wen
I’ve only used wood bits so far. The reviews look very positive, saying it powers through metal.
Thanks for the review! About to order this for the shop!

I'm happy with mine. I need to put a project video together with it.
It was great my friend. Excellent and professional as always. I have one of these Makita brand machines, but this one is better. Thankful👏👏👏👍👍
Thank you, this tool definitely comes in handy at times.

Thanks, a planer would be nice to see from SKIL.
Nice presentation. Can’t see a tension release lever in the images. How did you release the tension on pulley belt?

That's cool to hear! I'm still planning on a small shop project video with it.
$110? 6.2 amp? Are you sure? Can you provide any proof??? I don't think so, sr.
What is the total depth of the unit from the rear of the top to the front of the base? Thank you.
It's exactly 18-1/2"
Hey mark 😊

Sorry to hear that. I've never had to try customer service there. Hope it gets resolved fast.

It’s just a super tight spring, you really have to muscle it. maybe cheat with a small ratchet strap.

It work nice
Yes it does!🙌
I have ironton drill press in the storage shed mark
Where is that drill press from? I haven't tried that brand.

@@MarkThomasBuilderhow much does the drill press cost

I've been looking at this press. Is it possible to get a measurement from the bottom of the chuck to the table in it's lowest position for me?
How do you install the arbor?
It's been awhile, but I recall a few videos showing exactly how to do it. Sorry I didn't show that in my setup.

🙌😁💯
Looks like the Ryobi...
Yes, very similar.
Excellent review , one of the best reviews
Much appreciated!
Thanks, appreciate it! 🙌
Noticed pulleys are white in color, are they metals or plastic ?
