I started a woodshop in my garage a couple years ago and the 1st thing I bought was a new Skil band saw, the 3386. Same size as that one in your video, but the older model from before it came out. The first time I tried firing it up the drive belt snapped cleanly in two and I just let it sit there. I've since bought a nice used 14" floor model Delta (28-276) band saw that runs great and has more power than I'll ever need. I've asked several folks if they'd like a new Skil band saw that needs a belt and apparently I can't even give the thing away. So it sits on my bench collecting dust. I do like their Skilsaws, what they were originally known for, but as they say, once bitten, twice shy and so I've filled my shop with everything from Rockwell to Delta to DeWalt, to Wen and Craftsman but I haven't bought Skil since. I almost bought the Skil 10" drill press yesterday but at the last second chose the 10" Wen 4212T as, though it only has a 5amp motor instead of Skil's 6.2, I'm only drilling into wood and the Wen has variable speed control with no need to manually change the belt position on the pulleys.
