Continuing my Franken tutorials with a fun tag idea using the FrankenPaper technique. Thank you again to Nik the Booksmith for the original inspiration! Thanks for watching everyone!
As for little scraps ... every time I put something little in my "throw-away" pile, I find a use for it! So now I save even the tiniest of bits ... if I can get glue on it, it'll work!!
Oh my, I love these tags! They are gorgeous! Nice to know I'm not the only one who has to keep every little scrap of paper, they're too pretty to toss out! This is a wonderful idea to use them! Thank you! Hugs, Debra
Oh Gayle...I so LOVE your tutorials! These FrankenTags are so ADORABLE! Thank you so very much for sharing your creations!! Off to watch your FrankenPaper tutorial!!
Thank you so much 😊 Gayle, they’re so awesome and fantastic and so cute too. That’s so awesome and fantastic I really love 💕 these tags. So different and beautiful xx Mags
Cute, cute, cute! I think I’ll try stitching my frankentag to a paper template and attaching it to the tag with a straight stitch around the edge. We’ll see how that works. Fun to experiment.
The tags are beautiful! Great idea to use up the small pieces of scraps I have an embarrassing amount of scraps ! Now I now what to do with them ... tfs :)
Did I hear Junk Journal Retreat? I'm a scrapbooker, we have scrapbook retreats, I'm sure very similar! Sounds fantastic!! Love your tutorial by the way. I haven't tried this yet, as I have been afraid to touch my sewing machine, but this looks like so much fun may have to break down and give it a go!
Gayle these came out amazing!! I'm definitely going to give this a try tonight when I get home!! Thanks for the inspiration 💕💕 always a pleasure to watch your tutorials 😉😉 Big smooches 😘😘😘 Alia
So terrific an idea! Any tips for those of us who don't sew (egads! Did I say that out loud???!)--maybe some faux sewing tips? Those turned out so beautifully! Tfs!
L. N. I've seen some folks use washi tape instead of sewing on the frankenpaper, but the tags might be too small. You could use a black pen and draw the zigzag design down the seams. I think that might be your best option on the tags. Hope that helps! TFW! ❤️
Hi Nicole! I live in Helena, Montana. We make our own fun around here. Haha! So I've organized a retreat for eight junk journalers. Take matters into your own hands is what I say! Find a spot and start recruiting other crafters. Doesn't need to be all junk journalers. I go to other retreats that have quilters, painters, jewelry makers, etc. good luck! I hope you can find one or organize your own. They are the best! ❤️
Hello! I am watching this video in real time on 9/22/2018 and I have a question... you have mentioned attending a 'Craft Retreat' in this video and, I think in others. How does one find out about Craft Retreats? Are the ones you speak of, and attend, private (like with friends); part of a group you belong to, etc? I used to attend Quilt Retreats in my state of Minnesota. It has been many years, now, since my last quilt retreat. I would love to learn of Craft Retreats, and not just on the national level. Totally enjoying your various videos, can't decide on one favorite because they are all inspiring! Thank you for any reply regarding the Craft Retreats and TFS in your videos.
GJ, the retreats I talk about are local put on by friends at a retreat house here in Montana. The last one had mostly quilters there....they were baffled by my junk journals, but totally intrigued! I found my crafty friends by taking various local classes and attending classes at the local sewing store. It’s all just kind of morphed into a group of us getting together for retreats. I think as you do what you love and find other folks that enjoy the same thing, these things evolve. We also have a wonderful crafty rental house called The Scrapbook House in a town that is about an hour and half away. That’s where we gather. Quilt shops often have info on retreats to as you probably know. I hope some of that helps! ❤️
I love your videos! Thanks for sharing. I’m new to to all of this and I have been watching a lot of videos so I can try and learn. I love love love the sewing on papers and tags but I know nothing about sewing machines. Would I be able to use a cheap one or do you need something more expensive? These are beautiful!! I’m going to watch the paper one next! ☺️💕
My sewing machine is not an expensive one. It’s a Singer Patchwork that I got on sale at Joanns for about $250. My quilter friends have machines that cost $10,000!!! So mine is pretty cheap! ❤️
When I first started watching I saw you were sewing tags I said to myself There ain’t no way thatI would sew that little bitty thing with so many different papers but they are pretty and I might
Beautiful tag creations and I can’t wait to try this. I was wondering if you could tell me the difference between the FabricTac and the FabricFix which you used in this tutorial. Thank you very much ch
Gayle, loved the tags! TFS! I tried to find those sweet images you used on KristieArtDesign, but I couldn't locate them. Could you share a link to them? They were so sweet, I'd love to purchase them.
Watersdown I was just looking through her shop to find the image for another subbie. I couldn't find it either! I wonder if she took it down for some reason?? My only suggestion would be to contact Kristie on her Etsy shop and ask her. If you can't get through to her, Mrs. Cog has wonderful old children's images too. One's called Little Darlings 2 and Good Housekeeping Little Darlings. They are under her Images by Authors Name category at www.etsy.com/shop/mrscogscrafts. Hope this helps! ❤️
Hi Gayle. Enjoyed this video. You have explained everything very well. I have a ton of scrapbook paper, as we all do .One question I have is the word Franken paper the type of paper or just the technique. ?I have tried to look up the word and no definition. Thank you

I love these tags Gayle they are also a wonderful way to use up small scraps, I am not a great machinist so is it okay to just glue the pieces down?
This was wonderful.. tfs.. ❤️
Oh Gayle they are adorable
I am sitting here making franken tags while watching you make franken tags, why am I not making a video ? ? ?
Love your videos, I am hooked. Do you use a smaller zigzag stitch on the tags then on the full sheets????
Thanks, Sandra! I use the same size stitch on both the paper and the tags. 😄. Thanks for watching! ❤️
