Hey. Do you think I could remove haze on the cemented middle lens elements?
Your videos are incredible Mike so I figured best to ask you.

Thanks, A few times I have with good luck try to remove Haze in cemented lens elements, simply put it a small glass bowl with water and then put it in my Microwave oven and let it boiled for around 10min, after that it was clear and without any haze. Maybe it was just a good luck but it worked in those cases. Of course I have no idea if it will work in your case, but maybe it depence of the amout of Haze, I'm not sure.

Must one use acetone (zippo fluid?) or can I use 99% isopropyl to clean lens surfaces? Great video!

It always depends on what kind of dirt you need to remove…
if the dirt is water soluble than IPA (isopropyl alcohol) is fine. No so good for grease.
Acetone will also do the job plus it can remove some grease or fat (no water soluble) but caution with plastic parts, acetone can destroy it.
The zippo fluid is highly flammable and will be a kind of hydrocarbon like gasoline. It will remove very well grease and any kind of no water soluble dirt…
      There’s no solvent for everything…

Great instructional video! I purchased a Mamiya 645 35mm f3.5 and it arrived with fungus inside the lens. Do you have a guide on this particular lens? Also, why do you use zippo lighter fluid to clean the glass?

I don't have a repair guide for this lens.
I use Lighter fliud because it clean the lens for everything (oil film, finger prints, grease), and it does not take away the coating.
