hello I am renewing my request and my question, maybe my question has fallen by the wayside? Thank you if you have a solution .... bravo for your explanatory video, I also have this camera for a short time, .. I have a little question to ask you if you wash the answer it would be great, my camera does not trigger in normal position on the " white dot (, when I do not put a film in the back / cartridge, .. ... It triggers when I put on the M position (superposition,) and when I put a film in the back / carthouche it triggers at all speeds on the white point (normal position) ... So do you have to put a film on your back for it to trigger? Thank you very much if you can illuminate my lights. Best regards
My film won’t advance or fire unless on the orange dot near the lens “emergency fire” on the shutter. I tried to play with what you did at the end of the video but I can’t pull the dark slide out when the film back is off
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with this! I have the same issue with one of my RZ backs and only when I put it in portrait position (no issues whatsoever in landscape mode, weird). After following your advice, it worked perfectly for me! The only way I managed to shoot previously was kinda forcing the back a bit while turning it anti-clockwise until hearing the "click", but this way seems way more gentle!
great video! is this shutter design to be not firing when there is no film in the back?? weird thing is that when I put polaroid back on, the shutter works fine, when I attach an empty film back on, it gives a orange light
Thank you very much. It didn't resolve the problem on mine, that lever is faulty on mine. But at least I now know where the problem is. Thank you again.
This was exactly my issue, thank you very much!!! Is their any way to fix this little pin that it pops up automatically or do I have to bring it in position manually now on for ever? 😅
hi, very hard to tell exactly why its not working for you. When you have a film back on does the slide come out ok? Did you follow the steps precisely as shown?
@@ThisDesignedThat Try pressing the pin that is inside the top left circular hole of the back, its just above the dark slide (not the silver thing) there is a pin that looks like a screw that should allow you to remove the darkslide when gently pressed.
Thanks mate, you’re a ledge. Tried everything.. did this, couldn’t get it to fully engage upwards but giving it a wiggle and reattaching the back solved the orange light issue !!
Hi ! I saw your video and many more and still can't figure it out. My Mamiya rz67 doesn't fire even when everything is detached (just the body). I am not on M, my shutter is on 8 (tried different speed), the lock is on the white dot... do you have any idea ? Thank you so much
I realise this is an old thread but maybe it helps somebody - one thing not mentioned here is to check if the lens shutter is cocked. If not then one needs to rotate the cocking pins on the lens as far as they go to the red dot (check manual). When you remove the lens from the body the shutter is normally already cocked but it could happen that on your lens it's not, for instance with new lens or getting lens back from service etc.
@@ThisDesignedThat thanks! on which part should i put it? the actual lever? or the little pinnie thing that wont move? A guy on instagram who fixes mamiyas is recommending me a CLA but i want to give this a try first...
@@charvdgaag i had to google what 'CLA' meant :). I know people have used wd40, its good for getting things unjammed but after you should clean it with some 90-99% IPA, and then get some watch oil and dab it on with a cotton bud to lubricate.

This is so helpful! Worked for me, thank you so much!
You're welcome!

damn thats a shame but at least you learnt something :)
Thanks! i have the same problem with my mamiya, the shutter don't fire correctly, i'm gonna see if this is the problem
And did it work? I can get a RZII with this lens for a good price but the shutter only works with the cable release somehow.
This was exactly my issue, thank you very much!!! Is their any way to fix this little pin that it pops up automatically or do I have to bring it in position manually now on for ever? 😅
Its probably gummed up so i would suggest trying to clean the pin area with some IPA on a cotton bud. Then lubricate with some watch oil.
@@ThisDesignedThat Thank you much for helping out! So it worked out for you the same way?
How did you get the dark slide out? I pressed the 2 pins, rotated the lock. But the dark slide won’t come out

@@ThisDesignedThat My dark slide is also stuck when I try this :(

Hey This Designed That, any idea if this works when the shutter will only release with the cable release?
It might work seeing as the cable will only fire the leaf shutter in the lens if the mirror is up

nice to hear it helped you, its an issue that isnt documented very well so thats why i made the video :)
If i have film loaded into the back already, can I still fix it or will I lose this roll?
yes you can unwind the film in a dark room and fix it. Just remember what shot you are on in the film so you dont double exposure
Wow I’m having this problem and tried everything but this. I’m gonna give it a go
let me know how it goes, I was pulling my hair out for days wondering why my shutter wouldnt fire.

To dry fire it with everything off, you need to flip the switch to M.
This worked!! exactly my problem. Thank you!
very happy to hear that
Yesssss !! Thank-you for solving this problem !
Happy to help!
THANK YOU@@@!!!! I just got an rz67 and I was being stupid.

I think this is the issue with mine too! Exept the silver lever wont budge... Dont feel like i should force it. Any tips?! :)
Tiny bit of WD40 and use a cotton bud to dab it on the lever
@@ThisDesignedThat thanks! on which part should i put it? the actual lever? or the little pinnie thing that wont move? A guy on instagram who fixes mamiyas is recommending me a CLA but i want to give this a try first...
@@charvdgaag both, just try and work it into the area
@@ThisDesignedThat a guy who does repairs says to never use the wd40 on the camera... haha everyone saying something else. He says to do a CLA for 80€

thank you for sharing!!!
Life saver! This worked for me.
Glad it worked for ya
Where is that amazing location on the thumbnail ?
Singapore - you might find it in one of my photo series - ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=mamiya+x+singapore
excellent review thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Well done Video! Problem solved!
Brilliant!!
Thank you!
I tried all of these and it still doesn't work. Any other suggestions?
try some facebook groups dedicated to rz/rb. Might be able to help
I went through about 10 videos before I just realized that I didn’t cock the winding lever all the way when I thought I was every time...
hahaha, yes done that a few times myself. At least you fixed it :)
