No other body would be more ubiquitous. Based on basic Universal Gravitational Law than the existence of Moons. Dr. Kipping's Lab will be a success. It's just a matter of when.

What was it? 51 Pegasi b. First Radial Velocity, Hot Jupiter detection in 1995. I remember Astronomers not accepting the Hot Jupiter Idea. Or the terrestrial planets closely orbiting a Neutron Star Idea. It really took more Hot Jupiter Detections for full acceptance.
I wonder if that possible Neptune sized moon was another planet altogether that orbits the same star and just happened to transit around the same time?
What about the Binary Planet Theory. We're seeing a lot of them. What if the Earth Moon System is one of them. Formed from one nebula of the same Isotopic Ratios.

Could a large planet like Jupiter be responsible for slowing the moon down allowing earth to catch the moon?
And isn't the moon much older than earth? And does that mean it's possible it was slowly released from a different planet, like mars for example?
