What even is "nothing"? Since we live in a Universe where everywhere we look something exists, we've actually no idea what "nothing" is. Therefore, how can we pretend to know anything about it?
If the definition of "nothing" is the absence of every and anything, then it concludes everything had to come from nothing. I don't agree with that hypothesis but there is no other viable option other then everything is eternal and infinite which does not necessarily require any anthropomorphic robe dudes.
i agree with the cyclic universe concept. after the stars all that will be left is black holes. when the black holes start merging they reach a certain mass called a singularity. that singularity explodes creating a new universe until the black holes merge again and create another.
@@stellarwind1946 then how do you explain supermassive blackholes??? how do you explain ligo readings that point to a black hole??? yes black holes radiate away at a super slow rate, like trillions of years. however black holes can still merge together and form the supermassive blackholes like the one at the center of the milky way.
The BIG BANG is just one of infinite explosions of Black Holes. Not all blow up, like stars they have many types and life cycles. The ones that do well and eat many thousand galaxies get to a point that singularity becomes impossible. I believe the center of all Black Holes rotate at the speed of light.

Just because it was incredibly unlikely that the universe is balanced for consciousness to evolve, does not mean or even suggest there was an architect. An infinity multiplied by anything, no matter how vanishingly improbable, is still a certainty.
I love watching science so desperately try to disprove creationism. What you fail to realize is there are at least 8 dimensions with some saying possibly more. The chance that this all just happened is equated to throwing a dart from the moon to the earth and splitting a particular grain of sand exactly in half. There is solid evidence of beings, "intelligent beings" that aren't physical. Typical close minded scientists today claim it's a manifestation from our own mind. Ohhhhhhhh, okeeeeey! In fact it's far more bizarre to say we won a 1:999,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 chance than to say there is something far greater than us (the Master scientist) that started an Ant colony......
This is a misunderstanding of what infinity means. There are infinite numbers between 1.0 and 2.0. Literally, could count for all of existence and never cross the threshold of reaching 2.0 as you count the decimals in between. Its possible "Life/Consciousness" exists, in that scenario, at number "4.0". Infinity does not mean all possibilities will eventually be realized. There are infinite numbers between every number. You could have a universe that encompasses the "infinite" between 1.0 and 2.0; and it never reaches the infinite of "4.0-4.1", where consciousness could be created. Infinity does NOT mean every possible permutation of infinity is ever achieved. Its much more restrictive than you would think.
The universe cannot be Penrose's, or anyone else's, idea of eternal, because eternity would have already been accomplished, which is a self-contradiction. Scientists can come up with all the crazy ideas they want, but philosophy will always be there to tell them they are contradicting themselves. The universe had a beginning.
So, this is truly fascinating. This isn't the first time that a cyclical theory of the universe and our beingness has been proposed. Back in the early centuries of Buddhist thought, (2nd & 3rd cent of european dating), two incredible Indian philosophers, Nagarjuna and Vasubandhu, offered a cosmalogical understanding of the impermanence of all things that also go through the stages of being conceived, born, grow, age, decline, and pass. This includes the vast universe itself. The time frames of the different cycles within cycles were described as kalpers, epochs and aeons. Seems as though science has caught up in a mini circle.
Looks like the West beat them by a thousand years. Heraclitus said, "πάντα ρει", seven hundred years before they did. If a person is alive, it is actually pretty obvious.
Two dudes guessed something kind of similar… its not impressive. Penroses theory offers actual explanation of the mechanism and tries to fit it with known laws
The only way for me to imagine that the universe was just "perfect" in it's creation, enough to neither collapse nor evaporate, is that whatever came before it must have had *alot* of time to make it so.
There is nothing about the universe that suggests perfection. A great deal of wasted potential and stars collapsing. Incredible voids and radioactivity. Danger and chaos everywhere you look. Nothing appears to be created with life in mind. Even the majority of our planet is inhospitable to human life. On one hand you can argue that its complexity is hard to reconcile as random. On the other hand it certainly doesn’t appear to be designed with love or life in mind.
@@kaalen24okay it wasn’t designed around love? Literally no one said it was but it certainly exists just like radiation exists, all possibilities exist and free will exist.. I’m not sure we watched the same video but did you see penrose’s equation and every other example showing how absolutely improbable it is that our universe with these conditions could arise. It certainly doesn’t point to it being random, open like not once in this video was random even mentioned.. yet you seem to think it is.. rewatch the video bc you weren’t able to wrap your head around the topic, open your mind to more possibilities than holding solely onto yours, especially in the face of contradictory evidence…
@@DeecentAnimal Most people believe humans and the universe was created as an act of love. I was not directly quoting the video as you keenly picked up on. I’m stating that the vast wastefulness of the universe, all the planets and areas that don’t appear to be capable of creating or sustaining life is a clue that perhaps none of this has our well being or best interests factored in. There is a great deal of life that is random and I think the universe is clearly operating similarly. I don’t see goals or objectives. I certainly don’t see divine order or the semblance of a plan. And I don’t need to watch the video again to have these observations.
@ Btw, my viewpoint that you claim is falsified by “evidence” is the same view the majority of scientists share and they are keenly aware of the best evidence.
Black holes are cosmic vacuums that suck away this universe and reduce the matter into a pin point of matter that reopens later beyond the event horizon to create a new expansion (AKA the big bang in the new universe). This supports the reason every center of galaxy clumps have a blackhole in their center.
Did he just say when the protons reach infinity? I think this may be why dictionaries were invented, maybe. Okay, you calculate the exact last digit of PI and then Get back to me, big guy.
Why is it so hard for ppl to realize there is something FAR GREATER than us?? There is endless evidence of non physical, highly intelligent entities that exist and they're not from the 3rd dimension. I believe human arrogance is so vast that we must be at the top of the food chain so we're desperately trying to disprove the puppet master. The smartest man that ever lived said, "the only thing we know for certain is that we know nothing at all." The truth is so insanely BIZARRE that humans aren't capable of grasping even the surface. In fact, this world we reside in is an illusion. Particles appear and act as if they're aware. It's known that if our universe had one more or one less particle life could not exist. Haven't you noticed weird changes that don't make sense? The Mandela effect. The created illusion is making mistakes and I believe on purpose.

The Holy Quran explains all things. "the heavens and the earth were joined together as one unit, before We clove them asunder" (21:30). "The heavens, We have built them with power. And verily, We are expanding it" (51:47).

We are in 1 big bang among billions and that's why we will always find something outside of our universe because it's only one part of billions of parts in what is really the universe
2:04 “ If we trace back the entire universe was once contained in a singularity “ This idea makes sense only if the universe is of a finite size. So yeah the finite observable universe may have once been a point of zero volume and infinite density. But if the universe in its entirety is of infinite size, it must alway have been of infinite size even if and when it was if infinite density. Infinities certainly screw with mathematics.
Infinite universe = infinite mass = Infinite gravity (start of inflation) = infinite time = the beginning of the universe was an Infinite long time ago.

I agree in principle with Sir Roger, in that the universe is continually expanding, but I see it as happening in similar fashion to nuclear chain reactions. That is to say, radioactive isotopic atoms seldom happen alone in nature, there are always more scattered around the same general area. The same must be true for the primordial singularity which led to " the big bang". Eventually a stray "neutron" (galaxy) is going to approach a massive blackhole at just the right angle to "split the atom" ( cause a big bang)...
The bang happened all.around so what we see beyond the bang point is moving the other way .... Every galaxy also has a bang point as our universe has a central bang point or creation-point. Just as there are energy holes to keep things balanced in the various regions to keep an expansive constant and a framework that is predictable in itself regulation. The universe is alive...Inhale exhale!
Cosmic web of galaxies extend into infinity and has always been in existance. Galaxies form and unform over and over and over forever. No big bang, no beginning. No end, no god creation. Our " tiny region" of galaxies can be expanding, but just into other "region" of endless infinity. 😊
An infinite universe or and infinite past is unscientific and completely illogical. Other than that it makes sense. It is far more likely that we do not have an accurate accounting of the red shift and how that relates to age (whatever that even means when something is that far away and moving away from us) and how the expansion took place.
At the beginning, the universe was not a tiny ball or singularity. Time and space only existed “inside”. There is no “outside”. Much like we are today, there is us “inside” the universe. You can never look at the universe from the “outside”
My theory is that “The Big Bang” was from a star so big it would fill half our Galaxy. It ran out of fuel, went supernova and viola, “our” Galaxy was born.

Even our greatest minds are like blind men trying to describe an elephant. Math at our current level of understanding is most likely an approximation of what actually happens. Singularities, infinity, the concept of of zero could be approximations of what happens at a limit. We have so much left to know it may never happen.
I like to believe in a cyclic universe,I like this idea. I think it is not just cycles but cycles of ever increasing complexity, would that idea fit into this hypothesis?
For all we really know we are stretching and squashing or vice versa and don’t notice it either. If everything was shrinking in the universe it would appear that it was expanding and everything was getting further from everything else. To me it seems either space is linked with time enough that as time passes, it drags space with it causing its expansion, or all visible matter is shrinking. I think things shrinking is simpler than space expanding but with all that we don’t understand about the quantum world, simpler may not be the truth.
Wow. The creator made all of this for humans to be alive for one blink of a cosmic epoch. When we could have just all been made in heaven... The anthropic argument, in this case, is really silly. Is this all powerful, creator just practicing right now? Why so small... what?
Infinity has neither minimum nor maximum value. Therefore you can never resolve an equation with a value that doesn't exist as a number. Nor can you visualise infinity because it is forever. There is no beginning nor end. Just transformation. Things appear to arrive and leave but their material remains forever in new forms. Forever folding and unfolding. A key in a lock in a key.
Yes, let's reconsider our understanding of how the Universe began. Oh, the Universe and everything in it was created by an entity outside of time and space. Some call that entity God. Some may only admit there is a higher power. Call it what you may, but it is one possibility!
Allah claims in the Quran: "We built the universe with great might, and We are certainly expanding it." Muslims have believed in the expansion of the universe for more than 14 centuries.
They can't just guess they have to go on what they know at the time until new information and technology get better. we learn more, and it never ends. If it's not open to change, is the issue
Isn't it obvious? The Cosmos is endless. It will probably have room for an endless number of BigBangs in any corner of the cornerless endlessness. Who said that our Cosmos is all there is, or the only one? Get a grip!! All older knowledge until now is mostly obsolete. Who says NOW We know it all???
I don't know much except what feels right....and this feels correct to me. And if so.....then it just makes sense that every eon continually repeats itself! It has to! Hense, "eternal life" as the Bible says! Also,..... As we've ALL heard ...." Everything is exactly as it's supposed to be at this moment." 💥
Seems like evertime we see a little farther/bigger, we just see more of what we already see. "Everything" isn't expanding because the milky way and Andromeda have been moving to each other since they formed.
Unless there are multiple expansions or big bangs nothing on a galactic scale would be moving together. Way past time to move past big bang it's holding us back like flat earth did.
Antitime holds an ever-contracting antimatter universe, as ours expands. When the Antitime Antimatter universe reaches ultimate density, Our Universes Exchange charges in the utmost violent event, Big Bang, and it begins all over again.
Penrose > "fast forward time to infinity" . Last I checked infinity has no end. Hence, infinity. So , "fast forward time to infinity" is blah blah blah. There is no "to". There is no half way or middle of infinity. There is no beginning. Measuring the immeasurable is missing the point of the meaning of immeasurable. Pure vanity.

Referring to the idea that repetition is inevitable; fair enough. But I can be sure that no matter how many "me's" I encounter, There will only ever be _one_ "me" even in an infinite universe. A copy of me is not - and _can_ not - be the "me" that is writing this comment. In an infinite universe there is only one "me" and an infinite variation of other "me's". I guess that would be true of every *one* and every *thing.*
This is exactly what I've always believed. The universe is evolving. Perhaps it has existed and collapsed trillions of times already. It's the dominant intelligent species obligation to safeguard the existing laws of physics and if possible improve on them so life is guaranteed beyond the next big bang.
A simpler explanation is that the Universe is older, in that the big bang happened earlier than we think(longer than 13.8 billion years ago), and as such we can observer galaxies where they should not exist because in reality they had much more time to evolve to the observed levels.
Non locality blows this all away. Superposition renders space and time meaningless. Its all one thingy. Relativity is a mental construct and a consequence of consciousness. Our sense of self creates a stubborn duality that is subjective. The world inside your head vs the world outside your head. Can't have relativity if there is no separation or duality. In order to have relativity one needs a partner. If there is no partner, then what are you relative too? The fact of the matter is we are not separate and apart of the reality we are made of and swim in. But your mind is certain you have a location separate and apart of the reality you are. All dualities & symmetry are suspect. Something & Nothing. Hot & Cold. Good & Evil. Everywhere & Nowhere. Light & Darkness. Life & Death. Enjoy the illusion of self while it lasts. Ashes to Ashes. Dust to Dust. I don't think Rodger explained how a expanding universe re-collapsed into a new epoch. Or perhaps I missed it in his word salad.
My Theory is that when the universe was initially expanding, IE inflation, it didn't just suddenly stop expanding, it gradually slowed down, then sped up again, would this not lead to time dilation, as in when the universe was inflating things happened very fast (galaxy formation ect) so that may be why we see fully formed universes when it was previously not expected? I'm an amateur, so please be gentle 😊
I think it's weird that the galaxies (whole space) are in a in the shape of a funnel! When something explodes the particles are flying in all directions, not only in one way as they let us see. I think they should look and make formulas for all directions.
It's possible our universe is the first and last universe to exist in an infinite sequence of quantum fluctuations. I guess it might not be the first and last given an infinite sequence but what we think of as a universe is an extremely rare event since the dark energy density requires extreme precision for a quantum fluctuation to inflate enough to be considered a universe.
A theory could be that an intelligence could over infinite time survive the expansion and contraction of each universe and continue on and manipulate each new universe to find a new outcome.

Like the "Big Bang" ever explained anything at all, where did this infinitely dense point come from, what made it bang? I think science is very good at explaining the phenomena we find ourselves in and manipulating matter, but cannot begin to explain the truly ultimate, deep questions of existence.

To undestand Big Bang, we need a Big Bong, and then we can do Big Bang again
Nothing can exist before existing.
But is "nothing" really something? Does "existing" refer to a limited but also a specific state?
What even is "nothing"? Since we live in a Universe where everywhere we look something exists, we've actually no idea what "nothing" is. Therefore, how can we pretend to know anything about it?
That's the conundrum....

Black holes don’t merge in an expanding universe. They radiate away.

But depends on a small improbable eventuality. What could you call that? Yeah. Something. A hp or architect of sorts.
@@ck58npj72 life? Irrelevant. this is about the existence of this universe.
@@jontravolta2974 thus above infinity is the box we live in. The box was created.
As we all aware
Indian philosophy has been screaming about this since all its ancient scriptures! Cyclical universe is something which is not unknown to Indians
No universe A huge diamond Dome is the psysical reality🍏
@@kaalen24okay it wasn’t designed around love? Literally no one said it was but it certainly exists just like radiation exists, all possibilities exist and free will exist..
Mr.Penrose read the Upanishads to get the ideas.

Over a long enough time span, any degree of precision is not just plausible, but inevitable, and does not require a creator.
The smartest man that ever lived said, "the only thing we know for certain is that we know nothing at all."
The truth is so insanely BIZARRE that humans aren't capable of grasping even the surface. In fact, this world we reside in is an illusion. Particles appear and act as if they're aware. It's known that if our universe had one more or one less particle life could not exist. Haven't you noticed weird changes that don't make sense? The Mandela effect. The created illusion is making mistakes and I believe on purpose.

When you have an infinite amount of time, you're bound to get it right. Even if it was accidentally.
The Holy Quran explains all things.
"the heavens and the earth were joined together as one unit, before We clove them asunder" (21:30).
"The heavens, We have built them with power. And verily, We are expanding it" (51:47).
My opinion is the universe we know is not the only one in our space and time. Multiple singularities existed before our universe existence.
Indian philosophy has been teaching this since its ancient most scriptures! What the west calls experimental philosophy, Indians have been knowing this through ages
And yet, you can quote a single verse. ;-)

We are in 1 big bang among billions and that's why we will always find something outside of our universe because it's only one part of billions of parts in what is really the universe
2:04 “ If we trace back the entire universe was once contained in a singularity “
This idea makes sense only if the universe is of a finite size. So yeah the finite observable universe may have once been a point of zero volume and infinite density. But if the universe in its entirety is of infinite size, it must alway have been of infinite size even if and when it was if infinite density.
Infinities certainly screw with mathematics.

Eventually a stray "neutron" (galaxy) is going to approach a massive blackhole at just the right angle to "split the atom" ( cause a big bang)...

the TRUE world is a world of abstractions

Prove a single thing you say and there's a million bucks and a medal waiting for you in Sweden.
An infinite universe or and infinite past is unscientific and completely illogical. Other than that it makes sense. It is far more likely that we do not have an accurate accounting of the red shift and how that relates to age (whatever that even means when something is that far away and moving away from us) and how the expansion took place.
You are so wrong Gary
At the beginning, the universe was not a tiny ball or singularity. Time and space only existed “inside”. There is no “outside”. Much like we are today, there is us “inside” the universe. You can never look at the universe from the “outside”
My theory is that “The Big Bang” was from a star so big it would fill half our Galaxy. It ran out of fuel, went supernova and viola, “our” Galaxy was born.

The universe is infinite and eternal.
Great content/video! Subbed. This is basically "what came first, the chicken or the egg"?, but with space and time.

Great Video, One last question is "Has Forever already existed ?'. ...
Allah claims in the Quran:
"We built the universe with great might, and We are certainly expanding it."
Muslims have believed in the expansion of the universe for more than 14 centuries.
Just the idea that time and space are physical things is beyond ridiculous. Time and space are units of measure. They only exist as abstract concepts.
Also,..... As we've ALL heard ...." Everything is exactly as it's supposed to be at this moment."
💥

There is no half way or middle of infinity. There is no beginning. Measuring the immeasurable is missing the point of the meaning of immeasurable. Pure vanity.

This is exactly what I've always believed. The universe is evolving. Perhaps it has existed and collapsed trillions of times already.
It's the dominant intelligent species obligation to safeguard the existing laws of physics and if possible improve on them so life is guaranteed beyond the next big bang.

And here you are offering no alternatives to his theory. Do everyone a favor and keep your head out of Sabiana's legs.
