Xenia Here’s the honest truth that I’ll give you. I wish someone would’ve told me with friends to lovers. Odds are it will destroy your friendship either way. I don’t say that to scare you or be negative but if you say it and the other doesn’t feel the same it makes your friendship hold a awkward tension to it. If you confess and the feeling is mutual, that’s great. But, if things don’t work out between the two of you you could lose them as a friend forever. Most people believe that after you date and break up you can never resort back to that friendship you once had and will then cut you off since ex’s can’t be friends after a break up. I know some relationships where things didn’t work out and they remained friends at the end. But, that’s incredibly rare to come by. Take it from someone who fell in love with their best friend at one point who had mutual feelings in return for me. But, after I couldn’t handle my jealousy and my insecurities and broke up with them I lost them for good. Anyway, I wish you the most of luck and hope the best for you. Have a good day.

I’m a bi girl, and a lot of my closest friends are bi! It’s amazing and I’m so glad to have found people who I can relate to, but it can make sorting out platonic vs romantic feelings quite difficult. Especially female friendships are generally more affectionate, and it’s hard to tell what is just friendly affection and what is flirting. Like one of my bi girl friends and I peck on the lips almost every time we see each other, and we’re constantly making jokes about getting together. I really love her with all of my heart, but it’s hard to tell at this point what kind of love it is. Do I want to continue to be close friends with her, or do I want to be more than that?

It is actually a bit difficult to say precisely how things are going right now. It's a long, kind of ambiguous story, but I will say that signals and emotions may have been overstated, misinterpreted, regretted, or misunderstood. For awhile I really thought this was going to be a life-altering experience. It still might be, but things are not really clear anymore, sort of in limbo. One thing is for sure--it's going to be a slower, more gradual process IF things are going to happen.

Annie I do the same, I have never in my life had a friend that treated me as well as the best friend I have now and I can't tell if i'm genuinely falling in love with girl for the first time (were both straight) or if were just good friends.
Sorry if this is late but I had the same problem and I realized I was bisexual when I came to terms with the fact that I got butterflies, this excited feeling in my throat, and I felt the same for her as I did my past crush who was a boy. Me and my best friend had known each other for 3-4 years now. We met in college having to do a movie together we’re we played husband and wife 😂 we started to become close friends shortly after we developed a group of mutual friends. We were always very close and can talk about any and everything. We did almost everything together and even spent the night with each other on several occasions, all the while always maintaining a strict friendship. We watched each other date other people but the ironic part is that everyone always thought we were together. A few months ago I moved back to the area where he lives and took a trip to visit him. Of course everything was the same like we never left each other’s side. I spent the night with him and we “crossed boundaries” lol it was magical and natural, not one moment was awkward. The next day he took me out to eat and he held my hand and everything. It was pure bliss but a very different dynamic for our relationship. I went back home and all I could think about was 1. How I’m falling in love with him 2. How I hoped that our friendship would never change 🥺 since then we’ve been able to talk and of course nothing changed. However, we do flirt and can’t help but to talk about our “moment” We don’t talk about being in a relationship but I’m actually okay with that. We love each other and have a beautiful friendship. It almost feels like dating would just be a simple title. I don’t know the future of what will happen to us, and I would be heart broken if we stopped being friends or if he moved on. Right now, I want to cherish every moment I can with him. Love is complicated no matter who it’s with but it’s always worth it🥰

I didn’t do anything wrong (as far as I know) and I noticed he was being a little distant. He even canceled our plans together, I was supposed to see him this past week. I've had someone tease me for being kind to her, one bully me because of jealousy, and one who maybe sees it but knows I'll respect it and give her time to decide, as I don't want to damage our relationship as friends, and after going gym I've been feeling like trying to put things right even though I was the victim of the bullying, and my emotions was made feel invalid so as I had more valuable commitments I chose that over the danger close, protecting my relationship with her and taking the time to grow as a person, and unintentionally she had done something that made me feel a deeper love for her as friends, as it assisted in my growth, and today I've been doing my best to get her seen or letting her know I will support her growth unconditionally and just giving her thanks for being herself and honest

I've known my best friend for a pretty long time now, but as I started to comfort him and give him support in times of serious hardships, he started to get a lot more "friendly" with me. We talked about our vulnerabilities, our philosophy on life, our greatest fears and what we strive for. It was amazing just the way it was at that time, but then he made the confession, which I was very happy, but also worried. Our relationship together before he came clean and told me was absolutely perfect, and I thought that this may change our perspectives on eachother forever, which is something that I'm not happy with. But, his life was just so sad, so depressing and it filled me with despair just listening to his stories about his life. He was on the verge of suicide, and I thought of something; "If I... Say no he might take it in a very bad way. But... If say yes I'll make him feel a lot better about himself, plus he might not be as depressed anymore." So, I said yes. I wanted to say no, but I said yes to make him feel better. I am still with him today, but I'm not as happy as I was right before the confession.

It started in middle school and school had just begun and there was this new girl in 2nd period. I INSTANTLY thought she was cute and got lucky enough to sit close to her. I began with the usual thing all middle school boys do when they see someone they like and started messing around with her. Eventually we became friends, hanging out whenever possible in school but never really outside of it because of our extremely protective parents. Fast forward a few months and people around the school are wondering if we’re a couple, and our relationship has grown to a point to where we are essentially openly flirting with each other and everyone was rooting for us to make it “official”. Eventually one person came up to both of us as asked if we were a couple, we looked at each other and she looked back to the person and said “we’re just friends”. My heart sank for the first time in my life. People began telling me to start looking for another person because I was “friend zoned” but I refused to let someone as amazing as her leave my life. So I stayed friends with her all through middle school and high school, never losing how much I liked her until senior year, even after she got a boyfriend I still had hope she’d be mine one day. Few months go by and the summer after graduation we were texting in a group chat where she revealed she liked me very much as well, for YEARS in fact, but never told me because she wanted me to go after her to show that I liked her as well. After I explained to her how much I had liked her as well there was this feeling of “happy heartbreak” between us. Happy to know we both borderline loved each other but heartbroken by the fact we never did anything upon our feelings. Either because of fear of rejection or fear of losing someone amazing in our lives
Sometimes my feelings for her come back up when we talk, but I feel as though we’ve accepted that we’ll always be the “perfect couple” that never happened.
Update: We are currently in our second year in college and we couldn’t be anymore closer yet so far apart from each other. We go to the same university yet she hasn’t been talking to me or in the said group chat in months. She’s walked past me without saying hi to me, multiple times. I feel as though I’m now losing a friend right in front of my eyes and she’s refusing to do anything to stop it from happening.
I love Darian. From the moment I first saw her I felt some type of way. She’s so amazing. I’m thankful I get to spend a lot of time with her.

I realized that the hints that he was giving me were just him describing me so I messaged him "I know who it is." and he kept telling me to tell him who my guess was, long story short he confessed to me and he said that he was scared that he'll ruin our friendship. I was so shocked when he actually admitted that he liked me cuz I never expected him to like me romantically because we always joke around being gay (he's bi and I'm demisexual) and act gay. We were the power duo of our classroom, we both competed in school competitions and won and did stuff that best friends would do. I didn't give him an answer, yet. guys update- turns out my guy friend likes me all this while. we asked each other out and i can't believe this but he actually liked me all this while he told me he did since the day we met. when he said he's afraid of being rejected, he was referring to me and wow i'm so happy right now. he's the best and i told him how much i love him too. we were just joking around at 4am and i asked him to describe the person he likes and it sort of felt like me. i told him i liked someone too and he started laughing as well. i described him little by little and he described me little by little and we both couldnt stop laughing.. then he asked if i was describing him. he was nervous to ask me and then i said YES i told him i was describing him and he told me he was describing me and ahh my heart just flutters so much when it think bout that day😍 he's literally the best i love him. we're dating but we're also like best friends so wow i've never been happier!!!
It's the realisation that the thoughts of just them start to fill your mind and you just can't shake them, you constantly think about them and wonder If your ever good for them. I have to admit, I'm still in love with my BBF. I want to tell her I'm in love with her but I'm so scared and worried about the outcome.
