I wish for anyone and everyone reding this to be safe and happy, loved and cared for this Christmas. If you are in a abusive relationship please seek help and talk to someone, even if it's just some stranger on the street. You are worthy of happiness and true love, never ever let someone else make you belive anything different. ❤

As a man who's looking to settle down soon it breaks my heart to hear how men and some women abuse their partner. How would they feel if they were treated the same way? And it's amazing how these people get partners but I've never even been in a relationship.

I was abused for 13 years and even though in the beginning he was violent to me..the last few years was more emotional abuse. I still feel as though the emotional abuse has left much longer trauma then what the bruises did. Abuse isn’t only about just getting beaten up or constantly put down. Abusers can also show a really loving side..a nice side, a side that makes you really love them and you develop a trauma bond with them. That’s when it’s harder to leave. Also it’s when abuse is more subtle and gradual that makes it harder to leave. When someone is physically hurting you, it is so easy to see that it’s abuse, but when they are being nice 60% of the time and then now and then every so often they gaslight you, they manipulate you, they constantly flip everything back onto you and blame you…it’s harder to spot the signs. It’s also more harder to leave..as it sounds silly but you are madly in love with them. Only people who have been in an abusive relationship will understand this. It is a trauma bond and it is very difficult to break away from. Nobody will understand how we can love our abusers? But the reality is that they are very clever in making us fall for them so deeply, but at the same time they hurt and abuse us. I’ve been out of my relationship for 2 years now and I am still carrying the emotional scars. They will always be with me. My physical scars healed..but the emotional scars linger and that’s what’s so difficult to recover from. 😢

These men who abuse women are a despicable lot. They have zero insight into their behavior and blame others for all their problems. I helped my lovely friend get away from her violently abusive boyfriend. She is very intelligent and a former police officer; this can happen to anyone. It is right that the common denominator is the abuser's behavior. I recently watched a RUclips video that depicted a male that was abused by his female partner. The police and CPS were desperately trying to get him to bring evidence, but he protected her. She ended up killing him. May you walk in beauty and peace, Sophie.

I'm in the US,...more SPECIFICALLY NC. My son dad put me in ICU 3 times, he would make my kids watch him, ruptured disc in my back, pinched sciatica on my right side, a dent in my head from him stomping my head with his boot, I've been raped, cut, burned, and so much more.....but after the last time I called the police to press charges, the officer seen my temple area turning blue, busted vessels in my, he didnt have but 1 superficial scratch on his neck....but when the officer came, he told me if I pressed charges on my sons dad, then the officer himself would make sure me AND MY ABUSER went to jail, and that my kids would be takin......Ive never felt so alone, defeated, angry, drained, etc as I did when the officer couldn't CARELESS. My landlord was A DEACON AT A CHURCH,.....he seen this kind of stuff happening, and actually pulled up to our house bc he could see the blue lights from his home....he wouldnt even look at me, wouldnt speak to me, and he honestly didnt care about me,....bc hes always felt that women were less than a man....smh. Leaving these situations isnt an event......its a process, and so many ppl judge, I've been told I deserved it bc I stayed, or I must've liked getting beat bc I stayed, so I shouldn't 'whine' about it....men and women can be victims, survivors, but also the abusers. You deserve better,....if you want to see what kind of man you have,....watch how he treats his mom,...that will tell you a great deal.....

Make mental notes of coercion into a fight that's abuse and the mental abuse it causes for any future proceedings. The games abusers do trying to cause stress in the whole family and financial abuse. And then trying to make it your fault. These subtle instigations are cruel and Criminal and will go against them in legal matters.

The way these abusers operate is to isolate the victims, now the laws have changed. So the Victim doesn't need witnesses. Once the abuser is charged and the charge can apply for historical abuse. This means that the abuser will have a Criminal record and cannot get any financial loans as a National Criminal history check is required now. Also for Adoptions or IVF a National Criminal Check is required so people with Criminal records and DVA charges cannot apply. These National checks also apply to offences from Overseas. Also know that adult Children can also proceed with the same Legal proceedings on the Victims behalf and for what the Children witnessed in growing up.
