I made a DICE from steel and brass leftovers
#dice #lathe #makingstuff - Развлечения
It weighs 114gr. (4 ounces; 0,25 pound) 🙂✌️
A little tip so that you don’t need a reference for the dots on a die. The opposite sides all add up to seven. 1 is opposite 6. 2 is opposite 5, and 3 is opposite 4.
ok, but what is to the left of 1. or right. underneath.
@@Dirk_Mcgurk Well underneath 1 is 6. The other four sides are 3&4, 2&5. It doesn’t really matter which sides you put them on because the die’s weight will be balanced, and it can face any direction. So if you turn it 90 degrees a different face will be on the left.
I hope the steel is stainless.
You didn’t roll it…why didn’t you roll it!?
RIGHT?!!!
@@andrewhooper5645woah 4 seconds ago
He might sCrAtCh it
It's 4 ounces, @worldscoolestusernam! It's more like a paperweight at this point!
It won’t roll even, it’s not balanced like normal dice. Just a beautiful, desk piece :)
4 more of those would make the loudest game of Yahtzee ever.
Haha, they’d throw sparks while playing 😅
Beautiful piece of work and craftmanship.
At last someone who knows how analog machining works.
No DRO or other digital gimmicks, just experience and craftmanship.
Great Job.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate! 🙂
Watching that pressing adapter slip onto the vise was sooooo satisfying.
So cool!
i wish i was properly taught how to use the lathe and mill in my high school shop class, videos like this one would have made great teaching projects.
Thank you so much! I started with 0 experience, learning by doing :-)
A suggestion: Fill the dots with something transparent that have the roughly same weight as brass, so the dice become ultra-fair.
Ultra-fair would be a good idea. But it doesn't HAVE to be transparent. Black or red would look good, too!
I will, when I make the d20 dice 😅
Another suggestion would be to pre-drill 4mm thick brass disk blanks with your hole patterns for 1-6. The pre-drilled side of these disks will then be the side that gets pressed into the steel block so the dimples are hidden (it will be an idea to mark them on the blank side so you know which is which).
Once you have them all pressed into place drill the 6 side with 1 dimple, the 5 side with 2 dimples, 4 side with 3 dimples and so on. That way each brass disk will have the same 7 dimple's worth of mass removed.
A 3mm drill, sharpened at 118° has a tip depth of around 0.9mm, if the dimples are drilled to 1mm that gives 0.1mm for polishing the sides to a high sheen without leaving a step.
Hope that makes as much sense to everyone as it does in my head 😂
@@Galerak1 Thats a great idea, even better than filling the dimples with brass-weighting transparent material.
Or not transparent... Filling them with solder would make them silver...?
D20 metal dice. This is the real challenge👍
Challenge accepted 🙂
A full set of Dungen & Dragon dice would be awesome.
Dice that not rolled.
Great work as always.
Masterpiece
Thanks!
I love it 😍 great project Kai 👍
Thanks a lot! Iam glad you enjoyed 🙂
That was so cool to watch I need a mill and a lathe
I really love the ” PATINA “ of the finished dice
Good work, u should change the thambnail and show the beauty of that dice of video 📸
As a superrealist oil painter, I really do appreciate perfection and attention to the tiniest detail.
Your work is exquisite bro.
You got quite a pair of hands on you sir.
Well, well done... And please keep em comin! ❤💪❤
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback of an expert 🙂
i dont think ive ever heard exquisite and bro in the same sentence before lmfao
Magnificent Craftsmanship !!!!!!!!!! Two thumbs way Up !!!!!!!
That's great! He has good taste and clearly proves his high technical ability.
Thank you so much!
I liked that steel cube, very unique.
Mister Patina never fails and never lets me down.......therapy for the soul
You’re welcome!
TURNED OUT WELL LUCKY DICE
that is a beautiful piece of art work suitable for any museum.
I love polished metals as it is but the contrast between the steel and the brass is just stunning.
Now i want a pair of those.
But with copper inlays.
That pressing tool is a great idea. I'll be making one of those 😊
That is pretty cool. Now you need to make one out of brass with steel inserts to have a pair.
What a nice idea! 🫢
I was going to suggust inserting copper or steel into the divits before drilling. But this is also cool!
Magnifique réalisation
Nice and shiny. I really like brass, looks so good when buffed
The precision of these machines can not be overstated.
so smooh and shiny..great job
Thanks!
AMAZING!
Thanks!
magnifique, bravo
I love and respect that you gave respect and love to "my mechanics/cool again restorations"
No one knows it all
Nonetheless..
Perfect, amazing work
Respect is the thing 👌
Cool 🎲🎲🎲🎲🎲👏👏👏👏👏 Like 👍👍👍👍👍
Magnifique 👌
Right tools right people' The result is perfect job,
Thank you so much!
Well spent 14 min. THANK YOU ! 👍👍👍🙂
Thanks for watching! 🙂
🤯👍👏👏👏you are amazing the work you do is amazing 👏 👍🇺🇲
Thank you so much!
awesome! how about full set from d4 to d20?:)
Haha, that would be my 2024 project 😅
@@misterpatina this made me realize that we, viewers, do not fully understand and appreciate the time required to make something like this. Partly because you make it look... well, not easy, it's obv a hard work, but kinda quick, in-between thing.
@@HogartTheRogueyou’re right. Making this piece was around 2 weeks. I made a prototype at first to check out which tools/adapters/settings are necessary. After that I could make the 'real' die. But it’s real fun 🙂
@@misterpatina oh, it shows through your videos that you like this work and are having fun:)
Super sweet
WHY YOU NO ROLL!!? Dice have only one job!
Merci! Je suis content que tu l'aimes :-)
The two metals and surface finish are beautiful!
Thanks! Iam glad you like it! 👍
I love these little items made from steel like the eightball I saw on another channel. They come out looking great.
Awesome skills, would love one just to keep in my pocket
Simply amazing, you must have the patience of a saint making things like this.
Respect.Worldclass.
Thanks!
Dope AF paperweight, @misterpatina!
That is awesome! Now please make a D20!
Funny, right in the moment iam searching for inspiration/images of a d20 😅
Hello mister Patina beautifully done
Thanks Vince! :-)
Wunderschön. Hast Du jetzt eine Profi- Filmcrew? Was ist passiert. Wie gut kann ein Video produziert sein. Ich ziehe meinen Hut. NOICE.
Danke ☺️
Nice work
Nice work MP🙂
Ciulo ciulo ben trabajo👍💪👏👏🤚
Well done
Thanks!
Work of art
Great job 👍
Thanks!
Super cool 👍🏆
Ist gut geworden . Gefällt mir . Hab meine Würfel Löcher 5mm Kugelfräser angesenkt in 2,5mm tief .
Dank dir ✌️
When I was a child, I used to make professional dice without stone tools. I would sculpt them accurately, make them square in shape, and put numbers on them. It took some time.
Nice work 👍🏼
Thanks!
Amazing work as always
Thanks!
Nice! Looking forward to all the other die types
Wunderbar precise carftmanship`s work.
Awesome.... love your tools as well ‼️
Thanks! Iam glad you enjoyed!
Awesome job and with great focused shots of everything. Loved it.🇬🇧
I've never seen a die where the numbers face the other way on the 6, 3, and 2 sides. I had a thing for making dice for a while. Believe it or not, I have a titanium one I made in my hand right now. I see you made yours to match the plastic one, so it's all good.
Brilliant work, excellent result 👌👍👍👍
Thanks!
Hola amigo.
I love your work!!!
Thanks! 🙂
Complimenti per il lavoro👏
If all the holes on the dice were the same, the 1 side would be heavier, so I think it would be easier to get a 6.
"sup" LOL Very nice job!
Thanks! 😅
Absolute fabulous job on it, just for 1 tiny detail, i would have done the 'dots' with a ball nose end mill of the same 3mm size, unless you have and wasnt shown in video? Great polish job to finish it off
a loaded dice.. nice :)
Oh man! That dice is beautiful! Much better than any bought in the store. Very well done!
Hey Jerry, thank you so much!
You're so welcome!
You're so welcome
That's so cool! Amazing.
Thanks!
Amazing as always! Excellent work!
Beautiful.
my mechanics made an 8 ball from steel and brass. He said that the ball would be affected by the different densities of the materials used.
Great job!
Thanks!
That's a piece of art! Well done
Thank you so much!
gorgeous
Thanks!
Wow beautiful work!
Thanks!
what a beauty of a dice! very satisfying!
Thanks a lot my bronaldo ❤️
Impressive!
very pretty!
Thanks Kate!
Amazing skills, including the video editing 👍🏼
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed!
That is so cool. Good job man
Thanks a lot!
It is a wonders work of art. You have an amazing talent for creating stuff
Thank you so much!
That is absolutely beautiful.
Thanks!
That's is crazy awesome.
Nice work! Mine was metal only, an exercise during my first year of a 3.5 year schooling to become a certified metal worker in Germany! 1ste Lehrjahr Metallbauer Konstruktionstechnik... Everything had to be done by hand, no powertools except a saw to cut the ruff cube and a drill press...
Haha, ich erinnere mich gern an meine Lehrgänge zurück. Bin Karosseriebauer :-)
Amazing. Love it. Only thing missing would be diamonds, but that's going to be extremely expensive 😅🤣 Looks great! Would love to have it.
Haha, I really thought about, but I don’t got diamond cutters 😅
i agree! some inlays for the dots would be sweet af
While actual Diamonds would be really great and all, even just faceted glass inlays, maybe even some colored faceted glass for contrast against the brass would be absolutely beautiful!!
Love this. I'm wondering what a full set of dice ranging from d-4 to a d-20 for us nerds would look like in this style. If you need a challenge that is.
I could use 2024 for this project 😅
a d20 would be siick. id use it for my magic games
Very nice!
That's definitely a one-of design and build. It's gorgeous. However to play Monopoly you need two. LOL. 👍👍👍
Haha! Thanks! 🙂
