Heartbreaking. Oscar was 80 years old in 2005 and this must have been one of the last concerts he gave. This has always been one of my favorite tunes. Bless you, Oscar, for all the years of great music. Also rest in peace, Niels-Henning.
AECSRQ Not heartbreaking to me. This is marvelous! Even after the stroke and loosing his left hand his genius and skill is remarkable. Plays better with one hand then most will ever play with both. I join your blessing with a heartfelt Amen!
Such great comments by an amazing collection of appreciative, knowledgeable people leaving comments. Very feeling group. Losing Oscar Peterson, Niels-Henning Pedersen, Joe Pass, Bill Evans, Stan Getz, Miles Davis, etc. is heart-breaking. There will never be another period of musical geniuses like the 50s and 60s gave us. It was a high-water mark never to be achieved again it seems.
I think I would like to pretend that Bill Evans never died. I know how crazy that sounds, but I love Bill Evans for making me feel the way I do when he plays. I cannot explain it. Listening to "Never Let Me Go" for the nearly 15 minutes he plays is like my soul got touched and I left the earth crying all the way. I need to stop.
@@maureen7746 Look up Monica Zettterlund. She played with Bill Evans a short period. There is even a swedish film about MS named "Monica". You may find that too!

@Dominic Mullan……you are so very right and this kind of performance be it musical or simply as a reflection of our incredible ability to being creative, openly throws a bright light of how we can benefit from a single note, a gesture of love. Sadly our dark side seeps into what could be a permanent display of what should be a wonderful future for us now and for all the generations to come. But then I am the eternal idealist and have forever felt that music in all its forms is our ultimate saviour.
For me this is the best interpretation of "You Look Good to Me", not only by the fantastic minimalist play by Oscar Peterson, but also by the swingingg and deep play by Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen. Such a pleasure to listen. Thank You
Very impressive ... I had the privelege to see him at Marciac in 2004, and i remember how it was moving when he confessed that he could not really use his left hand, and Everyone understood why he has a very gifted bassman close to him on the stage, and the second time when he played a ballad and cried at the end of it saying that it was the preferred music of his late wife. A great musician and a very humble human, Respect Mister Oscar, you’ll remain as a legend in the heart of all music lovers.
Sad to think Oscar and Niels are no longer with us. A beautiful rendition of a beautiful song. I have listened to it many times and every time it brings tears to my eyes. It is simply exquisite.
He was classically trained. Played both books of the Chopin Etudes (Op. 10 and Op. 25) said he changed to jazz because he heard the music going different directions than the composer was taking it.
My God, what a player, what a group, what a production all the way around. I'm just knocked out that Oscar is still sounding great, clean, accurate, just plane wonderful, and I'll tell you what--That guitar player is no slouch either. Really, the whole group is amazing, and I'm so glad someone taped this and put it on you tube. Marc.
This is my first exposure to Ulf Wakenius on guitar, and all I say is "Wow!" What wonderful taste and technique. A perfect compliment to the rest of the group. Guitar and piano sometimes clash when together in a group, but not here, not with two masters of their respective instruments.
I had the honour to meet Oscar Peterson many years ago. I built cabinets for his home studio equipment. He was a lovely man. You could feel his strength. A great Canadian but a spirit of the universe. This is s great setting...nice one!
