Two things: 1. Please run the wiring to put all solar control units inside the trailer. Over time, they will get beat up in the cargo area. 2. Put a 110 outlet behind the TV. It isn’t a smart TV, and since many people watch TV online, an Apple TV or the like needs to be employed, thus the need for the outlet. Also, should an owner want to upgrade TVs later, the outlet allows for a change to something off the shelf. Thanks!

Hi Josh! I love your enthusiasm and humor! I am a 58 year old woman living in a Forest River Salem Cruise Lite 196BH. I bought it new in 2016 after my husband passed away. In 2021 I became disabled and had to sell my home. My kids are grown and on their own now so I do not need the bunk beds. I have discovered that this camper is to small for permanently living in, even for one person. I love the Ember Overland 201FBQ!!! I wish I could afford one of those! Since you wanted our feedback, here we go…
A oven is definitely needed. To plug in a toaster oven or Chefman oven/air fryer will take up ALL the counter space. Oven please….😌
All cabinets should have doors! It is hard enough to keep your belongings from flying around but even harder when there is no doors to help contain everything. 😌 Cabinet doors please.
One last thing. My camper did not have hydraulic lifts on the bed. I installed them myself. It is very important to have easy and safe access to storage under the bed. Maybe some sliding drawers inside the bed storage so you can pull things forward easier…. Sort of like in cabinets for pots and pans etc….
I want to buy a Travel Trailer from you. Please let me know how to do this?
      Thank you 🙏🏻

A built-in electric heater (safer than portables getting knocked around) would be great. And for the more practical of us, do we really need a fake fire? So a small built-in heater would take hardly any space yet still push out 1500 watts. Wanna watch a fire, go outside, especially for a smaller model like this.

  • @ipraybecauseitworks
    @ipraybecauseitworks 2 года назад +14

They definitely need something to protect items from the storage next to the fridge from falling out. Maybe clip up netting or a small wooden bar or dowl blockingbut you can still access the shelf.

  • @aaronbrookins8694
    @aaronbrookins8694 2 года назад +2

@8:54 instead of a door, how about a small 4 mounting point flexible cargo net, one for each shelf that is around 75% of the height between each shelf? The only thing I can't figure out because I'm not in front of it in person would be the mounting points for the nets. I don't think the outside face is an option as, depending on the mounting option, that would likely create a snag point. Maybe 2 on the shelf and the other 2 on the inside face or the the middle face of the cabinet or all 4 on the inside face or the the middle face of the cabinet. That way though, if you aren't using all the shelves, you only have to put the nets up on the ones you are actively using and Ember won't have to fight to add a more tradition door in an already confined space.

    1. Two burner stove with more storage space and no oven - WIN - having just a bit more counter space makes up for it.
    2. Love the sturdy independent suspension
    3. Would like to see a theater seat option (again like Rockwood) where the center arm folds up and permits curled up napping. Would like the mini tables and have them fit into the side cup holders.
    4. Want to see the bunk options with the exterior door. If that would require and east/west bed, that's fine. Don't compromise with designing for a king bed. Would be interested in the twin beds concept. Especially if you could invent a way to insert a portable desk on one side.
    5. And spend $10 more (stop doing what everyone else does) and put in a bathroom faucet where you can actually get your hands under it.
    6. And please don't follow the crowd by adding goobs of stupid swooshes and stickers. Keep it clean.
    7. And why not a built in exterior ladder? Who wants to store/find/unfold and setup a rickety portable ladder. That is the worst part of this trailer so far. You mention and optional telescoping ladder? Hope that-s permanently attached?
    8. I watch a number of RV user FB pages. It's amazing how many battery problems folks are having. When do you switch from AC to DC, how do you it, did I kill my battery, etc, etc. In the future it would be great to design something that is more automated or sensing so all of these electrical issues are lessened and you don't need to be an EE to figure it out.
    9. Battery shutoff switch in poor location; to easy to hit and break off.
    10. Repeat complaint - Don't like the trapezoid window covers.
221mdb - YAY - Add theater seats! Arrgh - bendy bed NG
191msl - Come on, show us! Bendy beds NG - deal breaker
And for the ultimate bad idea - Use a cheap TV projector instead of a TV. I see plenty less than $150 and many less than $100. Don't know how good they are. Put the projector under the slide roof and have a pull down screen over the sink area. Because that current location is pretty bad even though you tried your best.

201FBQ - this is as close to the “perfect” couples tv I have seen. This encapsulates a lot of features that I have seen in various other models that I wish were wrapped up all in one. Not going to get into too much detail, but I love the fact that the entry door is on the far side of the trailer. I hate doors next to the bed. Great video and totally appreciate your efforts in reviewing RV’s. When I’m ready for the next one, I will travel out to you and give you the sale. Anyway, the current build you reviewed my only wishlist item would be that there were an option to eliminate the behind the couch storage (for me there is plenty already) and give us a reclining chairs option. It could totally be done even with the table in place. Lastly the small storage area between door and fridge, I like what they’ve done with the shelves, however I would like some sort of door or accordion type pull down to keep whatever was on the shelves or stored in there, like fishing rods, in place. Just my 2 cents, but this model, with all of the features is so close to my “perfect” camper. One thing I forgot, never need a microwave. Hopefully that is an option and storage cabinets would be stard. Thanks Josh, as always, you rock!

@@shannonstewart4792 In many cases you are better off adding your solar system aftermarket. Most factory installed systems aren't done that well. They particularly like to skimp on the quality if the wiring, which may be the most important element of a well designed solar system. If you don't want to do the installation yourself, there are many talented solar system installers throughout the US. I have worked with excellent installers across my stomping grounds in AZ, OR and ID. If I get an Ember, I'll order it with the minimum solar package and put a real system in. It can be more expensive because you can build a system using best in class components, but worth it if you fulltime in the trailer (and, like me, hate generators!).

In a round about way, I've come back through the recent Ember videos. I would love to see the dual axle bunkhouse with the Ember Track like the single axle, making the bunk space convertible. That would also necessitate adding a cargo door in the back. I don't know if that is possible, but that would definitely add significantly to the value of the dual axle bunkhouse.

Like the looks of these trailers a LOT!! Agree with some of the earlier comments though. Would love to see a 221MSL with the Ember track system, a square sink, a convection micro combo, and the battery / inverter electronics inside the cabin, possibly near the main control panels. I get that wiring may not allow that, but it seems they could easily go up the interior wall near the door maybe? I have two teenagers and when we rented a NorthTrail similar to the Rockwood UL 2509S, they hated climbing into those tight bunks. I love the MSL type bunks that give the kids some standing room and ability to easily get into their sleeping area. Plus with the Ember track accessories, you can hang expandable cargo nets, or hang bags for their stuff on the bathroom side wall. Don't understand why more manufacturers are not doing this! Kids grow up to adult size eventually and need a little space of their own! Grand Design has a new Transcend model, the 235BH that puts the bunks in the slide where the kids can easily get in and still be part of the conversation if they want. Love the concept, just wish it was in a trailer without wood construction and Azdel sides. Your videos have been very helpful in the search for the perfect RV. Just still doesn't exist yet! Ember looks like they are getting very close though!

I love the storage at the head of the queen beds. My current camper has an open space/shelf/counter below the hanging storage and then a drawer below. I can't tell you how many times I have hit my head in the middle of the night when I roll over! I have resorted to stuffing a pillow in that area and then still hit my head when the pillow falls out. I must admit I am not a real "happy camper" when I get my head wacked when I am still asleep.
I also love the the light and plugs at the head of the bed. I end up fishing a power cord to a hidden outlet and then knock it out of the outlet when we put the murphy bed up.

Toilet access appears to be limited for those of us with the need for a bit more room. I am not wild about the storage behind the sofa, looks difficult to reach things. How about putting an exterior access door for that area!!! With the max solar package and a generator this would be the perfect off grid unit. There are so many things to love about this RV, especially the dual-axle independent suspension, the lack of cheap plywood in the structure, and the very attractive interior decor. But since you asked for feedback, here goes . . . The corner floor-to-ceiling wall cabinet in the bedroom doesn't seem very usable. What can you really store in that small triangle of space? It just seems an odd shape to accommodate clothing (I see needing to fold all my T-shirts and underwear into small triangles). Also, I'm not a fan of that outdoor kitchen pass-through. It seems like a neat idea, but I don't actually see using it as intended. I think that space would be better served with a large set of drawers or pull-out shelves. Finally, I've used small round kitchen sinks before and they really aren't practical. Washing moderately sized pots and pans always poses a challenge. Oh yeah, the plastic bathroom sink is a total bust.

  • @mikeholczer

Really like what Ember is doing. With this longer model, the idea I mentioned on the 191MSL video, I think would be easier to pull off. That's do to a twin bed floorpan like what's in the Airstream Flying Cloud 25RB Twin model, but with the E-track based beds in the back. With sets of E-track bunks on both sides and maybe a small door in the middle of the back wall like in the bunk house models, it would function as a sort of non-motorized toy hauler, be able to sleep a whole family and on a rainy day, the back area could be re-configured to a play area or a place to setup folding chairs. Certainly, with the back fully open, all the mechanicals would need to be in the front, so I don't know what that would for hitch weight, but if the front had a big u-dinette like the airstream I think there would be room for it, and with all the flexibility for storage in the back, not having front passthrough storage I think would be understandable.

I personally like the idea of having a little bit bigger camper that is easy to walk in and around without any issues during the set up or tear down process. I'd want a convection/micro, windows on the sides of the slide (or better yet if they are building a no-slide option, same build length of this layout!), we have the alumi-tread manual stairs on our current trailer and I vastly prefer those over the solid-step. The solid-step was on a trailer we rented before purchasing, and it became a deal-breaker for us as you couldn't access the trailer at some rest stops. I know that's an unpopular opinion with some, but we also find there is less dirt in the trailer when you don't have to flip the stairs up into it. I see some asking for theater seats, and my only opinion there is to please leave off the heat/massage/ugly-accent-lights if they add this. Our's have only been turned on (repeatedly) by accident and are getting unplugged as soon as we can figure out how to get to the plug - what a waste!

These two bed alternatives are ideal for smaller recreational vehicles and a good Murphy bed is my first choice. So close. So very close. How about this: remove the hidden wardrobe, mount the TV on the ceiling on a swing-down bracket. Put the fridge in the wardrobe space. Extend the bathroom wall into the old refrigerator space, combine the pantries together in the remaining space where the broom closet is. The bathroom layout should then be: shower extended into sink space. Sink moved to where toilet is. Toilet angled against back wall for more room. Personally, if it was mine, I would remove the cubby storage behind the sofa, swap the sofa for two recliners and have marine style drop-down tables for dining.

So are you saying that the machine needs to be lower than the person wearing the mask? So that condensation drains back to machine not into person's mouth?
(I don't use one just trying to understand the logistics.)

@@dianedenham5259 Condensing water will pool at the lowest point in the hose. He could turn off the humidifier and have no problem though.
