If you seal the wood before painting your finish is uniform with no wood grain look to the paint. All paint requires a certain film thickness which can only be obtained if there is no absorption into the wood so your paint performs as warranted. Not only does sealing insure a professional job but sealer is much cheaper than paint and when you seal first you use less than half the paint for a much better job.
That's absolutely true for the right applications like kitchen set/household furniture, but for subwoofer/speaker you want to have anti-cipated resonance to dampen the vibrations of the MDF/plywood from sounds...
When fitting captive nuts, it's wise to apply a small spot of Araldite epoxy glue to the four barbs. This prevents them from popping out when fitting speakers or panels.

Wonderful bass bin nothing beats a folded horn the stores sell a basic box with a woofer there is no comparison... even with a cheap woofer it will be great. look at rla sound systems...

What on earth is that four-pointed star in the middle of the front horn? Some kind of turbo exhaust decoration? Or maybe a structural brace for the sides of the cabinet?

An unnecessary complicated "Horn" design, that won't actually work as a horn, other than in above subwoofer frequencies, as the horn simply isn't long enough for the long wavelengths of subwoofer frequencies.
You are correct, this wouldn't really work as a transmission line/ horn design

@@corvettefever360 I use turbosound tsw-218.just two of these boxes moves some serious air. Oldies but really good. Ya this looks nice but the horn is short. Midbass box for sure... Would need two 15s tho. Last thing. goes down to 38hz and up to 150hz. Tsw-218. Sooooooo helpful.
@@LoVeAmBiEnT ok i see what your saying, as more of a mid-bass box, or something that would be found in clubs, etc,, where they are trying to maximize overall sound, & so typically focus on 60 - 70 hertz & above frequencies. This having loud, clean, & still powerful bass without having to have extremely powerful systems to power the subs for the same affect. Not to mention not having a "muddied" sound due to extreme low frequencies in an uncontrolled environment, etc etc. Also after the transfer function effect, the lower frequencies will naturally be enhanced regardless.
As far as the so called "horn" design, in this type of environment can be somewhat beneficial, in making these frequencies more directional, thus more impact coming from the the DJ stand/post, or stage.
This wouldn't be ideal in an actual transmission line / horn build. But considering i held an MECP for many years, since the mid 90's, i probably should have recognized this sooner. And the short response absolutely clarified everything, & makes sense to the direction of the build. Even regarding the smaller cubic volume per woofer, which will typically tune higher in itself, but be loud & punchy. This is the theory behind many of the larger subs stuffed in small boxes in many of the car audio builds. This upper bass, mid-bass tuning having a higher SPL, while being clean & punchy. Again the transfer function will typically enhance or exaggerate lower frequencies anyway, so will naturally appear to have "deeper" bass. This higher tuning will also be more efficient on amplifiers, as in to produce 30 hz signal will be that much more work than a 70 hz signal with the same hypothetical 500 watts.
This is also being the same approach in club type set ups.
