@Lrony Yeo Well it's quite the opposite in the West in general, and especially in the US where they are seen as industrious, educated, hardworking and well off with much higher income and education levels than the general populace. Surprised to know the situation in Singapore. It's similar to how the Chinese have really bad reputation in most of the tourist places accross, but they are viewed quite positively in places like Pakistan. But it still isn't a reason enough to hide under a different identity. Honestly I've hardly seen, especially the Indians and the Chinese identifying themselves as anything else other than what they are, but I've seen people from other nearby countries being identified as either Indian or Chinese.
The sad reality is they are here to leverage on the high level of productivity of Singaporeans and Asia. I worked in a French company before. French managers are very cold and unfriendly. When any big guy from France came, 10 pp would have to serve him. I visited the French hq and saw the same guy standing in queue for his food in the canteen. They are high and mighty when they come here. While we work 12 hour shifts for the miserly pay they offer, their workers can't work more than 32 h a week, if not company would have to pay hefty amount of overtime pay. Reality is are they this sociable or nice as this documentary portrays?? Try talking to any French person you meet. See if they are this friendly.
Sadly, this is 50-50. Used to work in a Michelin starred chefs french fine dining restaurant. What you mentioned is true, they were extremely cold, didnt even return a simple hello. Not many are as successful. women and girls are still being targetted just for being in hijab, even though they are born and raised in France themselves. the criteria and definition of what the French accepts to be "normal" and "correct" is so narrow that it only permits them, everyone else is still an Other.
@@sleepyhead6468 the ideas you assume to be correct are based on hundreds of years of imperialism, colonialism, slavery and others questionable practices which today would be constituted as crimes against humanity. the choice to deconstruct or to simply believe is yours and yours alone. so blaming it on "biology" is just incredibly and extremely lazy.
I’d love to live in Singapore but man it is hot and humid as hell! I’ve lived in the Philippines and Central Florida and thought I knew what humidity was but was I wrong! Five minutes of walking and I was drenched in sweat.
Great documentary and very touching. I can relate as someone who also lives away from home country, even though am not French

Love this documentary! Fascinated with the mandarin speaking omg
Nothing to be fascinated already la bro. Already for some time like one decade or longer many westeners learning Mandarin extensively bcos they know the opportunities are in China and biggest consumers and spenders are Chinese people including overseas Chinese. Even China hater, Donald Trump also proudly showoff his granddaughter speaking fluent Mandarin. LOL
French Singlish is something I didnt know I wanted
Singliche for everyone.
The biggest reason why I love Singapore so much. It is a mini United nations where man of all colours and beliefs and values come together and are equals based on their merits.

Singapore is a dream!! Always when I am there I feel like home. ♥️🇨🇭🇧🇷
I have worked with French people before, I find them quite stuck up when talking to Asians. Even when I visited Paris 15 years ago as a tourist, encountered racism from them there. I never liked them.
I had an ex-boss who was French and she was quite picky about things like must staple 3 times for paper.
Also, I can’t appreciate french food 🤪 think they are overrated. I’ve tried ratatouille, duck confit, and I don’t like them 😂 if anyone can recommend something meatier and heartier, pls do!
Generalisations don't always end up well, just ask the Chinese diaspora.
@@embershen364 then is your tastebuds.. nothing to do with french food is not nice.. appreciation is one's man meat another man's poison . i also don't know how to appreciate western food..
@Lrony Yeo Chinese diaspora have problems everywhere they go. Just ask the Malays and Indians lol. And I don't see Southeast Asians in Western countries complaining that much. I think u Chinese need to look at the mirror first before slamming criticisms on others!
@Lrony Yeo Why not return Singapore to the Malays and go back to where ur ancestors came from?

And don't forget to check out the croissants and the quiches!!!
Born in Singapore, went to middle school and high school in some international schools but thb S'pore is not as great as CNA is trying to portray. I'd preferred to go there as a tourist for a couple of days and not stay there for decades.
Why ? This is from the perspective of Indonesian? Assuming your name is very javanese name.... I thought living in developed country would be so ideal.
The agenda of this video is clear... lol
@Daniel Lim yeah Singaporean some of them also racist it’s everywhere you can see in social media... Chinese being superior as they are the majority and being white is always be privileged everywhere.. Singaporean adore so much ang moh..
@Daniel Lim Don't assumed my race or nationality as it has nothing to do with my experience in Singapore and no... I did not experience racial profiling or such with actual Singaporeans or foreigners around me and there were at least 30 different nationalities where I attended school there.

Very interesting and put made documentary. I would love to know the reverse - how do Europeans treat foreigners in their own country too.
Never knew an estimated 0.5% of the population is French. 0.0

The "stealing local jobs" is just excuses
But what some people who complain like that dont understand is even if the govt bar all foreign talents still if the company say the locals he/she are not qualified means not qualified.
If they don't want to take these locals then who can force them ?
Worse scenario is the investments pull out due to lack of talents or singapore unable to meet it's requirements
which will ruin singapore reputation and the singaporeans who already have jobs in that company would also get retrenched.
Some have to learn that just because they can't get doesn't mean other singaporeans can't get.
@@RAM-km8bx Sorry I am not Singaporean but I gotta say this. Who are these "foreign talents" ? They are just random normal people from the west. You can find these same "talents" within the Singaporeans already. There are many Singaporeans doing odd jobs because they are not given any chances or opportunities.
@@trypeace6026 the term “expats” are reserved for white foreign people who hold white collared jobs. “foreign talent” refers to workers from 3rd world (developing countries) doing blue colour jobs

You can take your money and be rich in Malaysia, and then people can say the same about you.
Keep it up! Would love to see more videos featuring other nationalities in Singapore such as: Japanese, Koreans, Americans, British etc. Diversity at its best 👍
hi foreinger welcome to land in singapore. Singapore is a law and rules countries which portrail the government protect his people and people temporary stay here or permanent. We have proud of our SPF and good upright MP or Non-Mps. As long dont break the rule and stay safe, protect your families and keep musk on. God loves his creation. Amen
In Singapore and even Malaysia, Chinese usually deems Caucasian looking peoples as foreigners even tho they themselves are descended from immigrants too. 🤦 Only Malays are the real indigenous people.
This is what makes Singapore a boring place. Everyone gets brainwashed by the government to support the corruptness SPF and the strict Singaporean Law. After all it is what makes this country one of the safest in the world, yet one of the most boring countries in the world.
this is so cute and wholesome :))

Since CNA has deliberately call India Indian South Asian in all their new narrative, why call this family French when they are Western European ? Be consistent CNA !
South asian sounds better than Indian.
@Daniel Lim ur kind will be subject to the same once travel re-starts
Wanted to be treated like gods, but in return , treated us like peasants. However, when I moved on to another Renowned French bakery here in Singapore, the French people I worked with were extremely hospitable and friendly. I guess its all about the culture of the company
