Replace the strings with better quality ones. Nylon strings take time to 'stretch in'

I purchased one of these kits and it remains on the shelf unfinished.
Watching this video it isn't difficult to see why. You have a fairly
well stocked work room and had no trouble having these items ready to
go. I have, at best, a couple screw drivers which was claimed to be
all one would need to put this ukulele together. I would LOVE to see
a non-DIY person put one of these together in order to see if they are
able to complete one of these ukuleles. I know I couldn't.
    sand paper
clamps with wood support for the clamps
extra wood to keep things level
spray paint (multiple colors and clear coat)
    wood glue
ignored directions which a rookie would follow as closely as possible
(directions probably also mentioned to glue the bridge)
a place to hang the ukulele
    stuffing for the sound hole
masking to keep spray paint where it isn't desired
    a well equipped work shop
a high skill level with tools, paint, etc.
    steel wool
    Scotch bright pad
drill for producing screw starting holes (lots)
    chisels
    rasp or files
tape measure with knowledge of string theory
    epoxy cement where needed
belt sander to set correct string height at bridge
