there is something about this video that makes it so captivating... i think its the drummers making the drums sound so musical that totally boost the drum's capability.
sonor makes my favorite drums, period...dw, pearl, tama, ayotte, noble and cooley...the list of drum manufacturers that impress me less than sonor goes on forever...even their $400 kits sound amazing...how is that even possible?
In my opinion Sonor's Select Force along with the Prolite are the best sounding, most musical drums I've heard. They have superb resonance, sustain and the strongest tone. I got a 12 rack Select Force tom added to my 1998 Premier Cabria, I use it as the 1st and highest tuned tom of the 4 in my set, tuned in Bb of the higher octave with an evans clear G2 on the batter side and man it sounds so awesome combined with the Premier toms wich are dark sounding due to its hybrid shell of blue gum eucalyptus and dark red meranti (phillipine mahogany). Also the 45 degree bearing edges are flawless and the T.A.R mounting system looks beautiful and really does enhance the resonance and sustain of the drums. Sonor drums kick ass!! 👊
I build specialty snare drums from raw lumber as a sideline, but I'm honored and very fortunate to own a Sonor kit. They are a truly special drum company.
After playing and endorsing a certain drum company for over 20 years who sadly really don’t even focus on their kits anymore I decided it was time for a good look around and a change. I hope to have my first Sonor kit arriving here at the studio next week. I didn’t go for the Pro Lite or SQ2 but the Essential Force as I really liked the short stack toms and as of yet not being an endorsee the price was awesome. I will be recording the full drum tracks for the first A.G.D record out of C.A as well as shooting video for Samplitude Pro X 3 Magix official which I do endorse and will be on their site soon. Great times ahead and great video for Pro Lite
The guy on the four piece was awesome - so smooth and SO much groove. Sonors always sound absolutely amazing....I have the Safari Kit - which is as entry level as any kit could be...and it sounds amazing when it's tuned well.
Ich liebe Sonor (spiele ein Sonor Designer) und diese neuen Drums hören sich fantastisch an! (was man bis jetzt so aus dem Video entnehmen kann) Da merkt man halt Made in Geramny
The creme white finish ia matt and looks the same than the beech set but it's a completely new developed colour... I tested it with playing cascara on the shell and you did not see anything- no scratches. I really love that finish and the touch of it.
Seriously, Gavin just seems like a genuine, nice guy. Would be nice to have a chat with him about.... stuff (politics, economics, philosophy, religion, music and everything else that makes human kind.... human).
he was kind of a prick :P ... really snobby like, "don't touch this" "I need these mics or i wont do the clinic" "people give me things and I leave them in hotel rooms because I don't care" ... so on and so forth
Ever had that feeling of switching over to a drum company but felt like you're cheating on the current one because of serious consideration ? Well, that's what i'm thinking with Sonor drums... I won't mention the other company, but they made a certain finish very famous because of a certain famous drummer back in 1964.. ;)
To me, these are some of the best sounding shells around today and leave most other top brands for dust. It's all subjective of course but the pure engineering, whether hand built or not, can be heard in the tone of the shells. At the end of the day, it's what we do with them that counts but even if the sound is not for you, one can at least respect the sheer depth of quality, history and knowledge of Sonor.
@FlorianAlexandruZorn thankyou for the help. thats what I'm going to probably get now, thanks. just have to wait until the prelate series is available at my nearest drum shops. thanks again.
Best drums in the world, no doubt. I'm proud to own an S-Class Pro kit, but these Prolites are making my mouth water. The snare throwoff is so perfectly designed, why has nobody done this yet?!! Gavin's playing is superb, and his technical knowledge of drum hardware and sound is unsurpassed. i MUST know, however...is SONOR making and selling the bar attachment for his chimes?? check out 5:21 and you'll see...
Last year I bought a Force 3007 Smooth Brown Burst kit, many extras 24 bass, 8, 10, 12, 14 rack toms; 14, 16, 18 floor toms, 14 snare and 10x2 jungle snare... love them... I just wish it was easier to get in touch with Sonor regarding customer support, my 14 snare was out of round right out of the box, I was able to get a rim and head on it but it would be nice to have it right... sales guy heavily encouraged me to deal with it because Sonor is so hard to deal with in the USA... that's a shame.
@c0d3x001 Those Brushes I Think are from Vic Firth, they are called "Dreadlocks" if im not mistaken, their under the Corpmaster Marching Series....pretty cool
Met Florian Alexandru-Zorn a few days ago. What a great guy and awesome brush drummer. Sonor rocks. Their customer service lacks but...the drums are great, though.
You're right. You could definitely buy all of that for the price of one SQ2 kit and even I think it's silly that they charge so much. Same goes for Yamaha's PHX, DW's Collector's Series, Pearl's Masterworks... But for that price you're getting one hell of a drum set from a manufacturer that's been in the business for 138 years. Besides, if your paying that much then I believe you know what you're getting into. I hardly believe it's out of touch. Out of its mind maybe...but it's worked so far ;)
wow what hihat is Florian using? That sounds eeexxxcellent. great drums too. really rich tom sounds, and its cool to see how everyone is getting different sounds out of their snares.
All about this video is inspiring..the drums, the drumming, the video edition, the place where they play....i'm from Argentina (so i'm not biased with following opinion) i have great and special respect for German and Japanese industries. Whatever it says...made in Germany or in Japan, i have the feel that those things couldn't be better...nor the design, nor the construction, nor the materials they use. The Meinl cymbals are a better match with the kit imo.the Benny Greb combo, can't go wrong.
Can I ask a question Sonor? I bought a Sonor Force kit new in about 2005 . It was in black sparkle and it was 24”, 18”, 16”, 13”, 12”, and an aluminum 14” snare. What Im trying to figure out is if it was a Force 2003 or a 3003. Did you make the 2003 sets in black sparkle or just the 3003? Any other tips on how I may be able to figure this out? Thanks.
Could it have been the 3005 ? Im not positive the kit I had was a 3003. Did the the 3003 have the round badges back in 2006 ish? I just know mine had round badges. Just trying to see what else it could have been. It was all maple as well, I know that.
@@underpressureman if you got the kit around 2006 it's much likely a 3005 (which was introduced as the succesor of 3003 in the year 2005). They all had round badges. The "30" in all Force 300X stands for Maple, the last two digits for the year (3003 - 2003, 3005 - 2005 and so on).
Can't seem to locate a dealer with displayed prices. Can anyone tell me what I can expect to pay for a configuration in the video? Played Tama drums my entire life and the thought of switching to Sonor is tempting...price is a deal maker/ breaker.
SONOR. PLEASE HELP ME. I know i can purchase sonor bass drum skins, with it being white, smooth white, black, etc.... But the SQ2 i've got (btw i f*%$in love it to bits) i ordered with the natural (with a SONOR and SQ2 logo). I know there is one style replacement skin which is black (with the SQ2 logo). im just asking if it possible could you please make it so i could purchase any style SQ2 bass drum skin replacement. i would like to purchase a white one but it is not available to purchase. thx
One thing you will learn as music becomes a bigger part of your life is that price doesn't matter. Sometimes, we have to go the extra mile to get what we want. I'm one of those lucky few whose dream drum set doesn't cost much, but if my ideal setup was $10,000, I'd find some way to make that money. This is a kit designed for professional drummers, not hobbyists.
If you take 5 minutes and watch other Sonor Prolite videos you'd hear that this is exactly what these drums sound like. Yes this video was recorded in very good rooms with very good equipment and then mixed by very capable engineers. But when you compare this sound to the sound of the drum shops using very minimal micing, there's a consistent sound across all them.
Can you not hear a difference between brands, higher end and lower end priced drums? Yes, with recording techniques and any old drum set you can get a decent drum sound, although it won’t sound like the drum set you are recording, it will just be a vehicle to lay samples on, that tends to be mediocre, overly processed, and ultimately sound like everything else. If you are happy with producing that level of work and quality, then don’t bother with Sonor drums. Judging by your comment, it’s possible you won’t recognise the quality, and defiantly won’t appreciate them. What drums do you currently record or gig live with?
i have a copper sparkle fade crush set. i bought a 10 inch wood side snare. i'd like it painted to match. i live in fl. where can i find a person thats good? thanx. was thinking about car or motorcycle painters, but maybe a drum co.
Agreed @Carlo Von Sexron. Totally agreed. If i was to buy a pro kit from one of the big house brands, pound for pound it would be Starclassic maple. Highwood drums, near where i live make me a truly custom kit for a grand cheaper than the equivalent sonor set.
Most of DWs' I've heard sound muddy and strangely hollow. Or the guys playing them just want to tune their drums that way. There have been times when I have had doubts for the Sonor, too. But I just love the sharp, solid and transparent punch of my Sonors :)
there is something about this video that makes it so captivating... i think its the drummers making the drums sound so musical that totally boost the drum's capability.
Beautiful sound, Sonor like always bringing quality and precision to the table.....
Nothing compares to the sound of Sonor drums.
I still don't understand how they do it, but Sonor drums simply sound (much) better than anything else.
Gavin can make any drum set sound amazing.

i like how gavin harrison is strugling with coordination in lhd car, but he can do biblical shit behind the drums
Hahaha, to je to! Ali mene fascinira ton njegovog bubnja, ne znam da li više odlepim kad čujem tomove ili kick
WONDERFUL DRUMS! Congrats!
i don't know how often ive watched this already, but the drumming and the drums are both so incredibly fantastic.
It is wonderful to see a corporate and product message embedded in such a light and elegantly composed film. Gratulations.
They Sound Better than they look, and they look stunning!
Good God, Gavin's kit sounds incredible! Definitely some of the best sounding drums I've EVER heard, that snare sounds great
