Man. If you aren’t a Sonor fan, you probably just don’t like drums. Lol. This was so sick. Well done guys!
thanks Adam!
Adam Tuminaro you gotta get the check next to your name 🤔
Sam Smith
I’m down! Unfortunately not my decision. lol.
I like drums, I like sonor, but there pedals, yes there are sturdy yes there have great beaters but sadly for my big feet there have no longboards. Still the quality is really good
@@AdamTuminaro whats the higher model the sq1 or sq2?
As a german, carpenter and passionate drummer you inspired me to apply for a job at Sonor Drums one day. :D
yo tambieeeeeennnnn
It's a dream of mine to own a SONOR kit. The craftmanship and soul put into the manufacture of these masterpieces is simply outlandish.
I love how Karl Menzel shuts down the "entry level" talk on 16:30. It´s like "we are not here to be popular, we are here to deliver".
thats the goldest stuff i ever heard from marketer. salute.
Although they have entry level stuff manufactured in asia
@@russelw.6288 Yes and no. They used to have cheap drum sets however, they quickly shut that down because of issues. Now, even the AQX series, which is the entry-level - I mean just looking at it, you can tell. They go for the price of a professional club outfit most working drummers would invest in to gig around, and are marketed towards kids!
I do not play sonor. I play DW but I have been saying this forever when people talk about their $700 drum set sounds as good as. A sonor or a DW TO ME YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR IF YOU BUY A $700 DRUM SET THERE’S A REASON WHY IT ONLY COST THAT MUCH NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU THINK THE SOUND IS BY CHANGING THE HEADS OFF PUTTING POUNDS OF MOON ON IT AT THE END OF THE DAY IT’S A $700 DRUM SETcheap wood cheap build cheap hardware equals cheap sound
I've never thought that I would ever hear Jared say "Moin" to someone. My life is complete!
Ganz viel Liebe an Drumeo aus Deutschland!
I love this video concept. Would love to see similar videos for the other big companies. Ludwig, Gretsch, DW, Tama, Pearl, Mapex... Same with cymbals and sticks and heads.
Thank you for the awesome content!
Ethan They've already filmed a similar documentary for Paiste
i want t see Tama too
Yes, Gretsch please.
Pearl! don´t Forget!! awesome!!
SJC?
I still love watching this video. Brings back many great memories of the time I spent at the factory. A magical place to say the least.
I can't thumbs up this enough. SONOR drums are magic. Those who have played them know. One day I'll custom order a discontinued DESIGNER kit no matter what the cost is. Those kits are just simply the most over-engineered masterpieces ever made.
I have a Sonor Signature drum set -- the best drum set I ever played. Incredible!!!
I owned a set back in the 80s. One of the best constructed kits ever!
I’ve been playing the Sonor SQ2 for 12 years and I can’t imagine playing anything else!
Great video👍
My Sonor Delites never let me down. I appreciate the care and craftsmanship that goes into these drums. Awesome video!
This video is the exact reason Sonor drums are amazing, Karl never change your methodology.True German quality, true German Volk, Jared Thanks for sharing your journey. I was in Germany in 86, 87 bought a Black lacquer Sonor light everything from the Factory I'm glad I made the Rock choice over the Bobinga sIgnature even thought it was a super hard choice. I love the Birch sound then, and I still love it now. It plays exactly as the first day I bought it. I love my kit, Danke, Danke schon Karl and to all at Sonor Drums, wonderful people!!! Jared I envy your trip what an experience you had and mine in 87 such a memory I will never forget.
Man, Jared. You might not be "famous" or a rockstar, but you're living the dream!
Kudos to you and Drumeo!!!
I still remember playing a Sonor jazz-fusion-sized kit at a jazz band concert and it completely blew my mind and made me play one of the best shows of my life
How have I not seen this video before? As the proud owner of a Birch Shelled, Bubinga veneered Designer Series kit that I ordered back in the late 90’s that they can bury with me, I’m so stoked to have finally stumbled across this video..
Fellow Designer owner here since 2001.
And I share your sentiments exactly. 👍
Great film, but it would have been nice to finish it off with an unboxing of the snare back in Canada :)
Don't worry, it will happen sooner or later (i guess/hope?!).
Yeah wtf, where's the snare!?
@@Visuvh sooner or SONOR ;-)
@@josefkugelmann4256 ok good job :)
I’ve seen several Sonor factory tours. This is the best one. Brilliant content, brilliant drums.
Started playing 60's Premier jazz kits when a kid listening to Mitch in the 80's,and did so for years, then bought a 3001 80's Sonor kit in Maple years later, its still the go to kit✌️
I've been playing the same Sonor drum set for 23 years, fantastic look in to how they were, and are built . Thanks for sharing, and that pork Schnitzel with the fried egg looked amazing .
i really love how you took the opportunity to show and demonstrate your core strength of being a top class instructor by playing all kinds of different genres and styles of drumming through out the film, and what a better platform can you have when your using top class drums like Sonor. AMAZING!
There's something so special about a drum set in the middle of a field
Excellent video! I watched one of your competitor’s tours of the Sonor factory and this film blows it out of the water. Well done. Glad to be a new Drumeo lifetime member!
I ordered my SQ2 and I can't wait to get them!
Congrats! :-)
Black Mountain Percussion awesome post a video on how it sounds
RIP wallet
@@jpross123 yup
how did it turn out?? 😃
Well done. What Karl said about entry level drums was spot on. I really enjoyed it.
Jared: this is a wonderful movie!!! Congratulations...and i like Schnitzel too..
Oh man. Literally binging on these drum manufacturer docs right now. Paiste, Tama, and now this one. Congrats to all involved. Well, well done guys.
I have a Sonor drum kit , and I have to say that the sound is just amazing. Thanks for this lovely documentary. God bless
Ive owned a SQ2 kit for apx 10 years now. Everyone compliments the sound and they do indeed sound awesome. Only kit Ive tried that even comes close is the good old Sonor Hilite series.
I heard that Designer was the best kit Sonor ever made, but unfortunately never had a chance to play one
@@markomarkovic5729 Designers are great as well, but Id say theyre on par with SQ2, depending on your specs etc. I think of SQ2 as pretty much the same series, but with modernized hardware and a new name, with more customization options etc. Theyre very similar in quality. Cant go wrong with either. The strange thing with Hilites for me is, that I havent been able to find any other kit that replicate that sound. Its quite unique.
You are famous Jared! To me and countless drummers and musicians worldwide. You've made yourself a very important figure in the drumming world, and one day I'm sure you'll be seen as one of the legends, right next to those incredible drummers we consider to be legends today.
I'm ready! Looking forward to this new documentary. Love drumeo and Sonor drums!
I have had to of watched this 20x and at the end it always gets me emotional inspired and motivated. I can’t explain the passion I have for drums it’s just there like the love for my children it’s one of the greatest things you just feel it in your soul🥁🔥
My god the people of sonor are beautiful souls man, why can't the whole world be full of them
This is legit, y'all are pushing the drum industry to new levels!
Always admired the way that Germans obsess over quality. The ways the can unite the high tech with old world craftsmanship is stunning. Sonor drums are the epitome of "you get what you pay for". They're not drums you need, they're drums you covet. Thank you for the glimpse into that special company.
The quality of this documentary is top notch!!!
The craftsmanship of Sonor drums is amazing
I remember as a kid being in the sonor showroom next to their factory, its what inspired me to start drumming , My grandparents live in that village! Plus that schnitzel house is top notch !
One of the best videos from drumeo! SQ2 one of these days. Maybe a retirement gift.
Since I was kid I always like the Sonor drums... and for me personally is one of the greatest drums in the world
What an amazing doc.Ive been playing drums for 40 years this year,I started when I was 14, ,I'm 54 this year, Ive ALWAYS wanted Sonor set,Ive had Yamaha,(1st set) and a Tama big set in the 90's,( I started in the early 80's) I next went to a DW set, classic, with 24k hardware, amazing sounding kit, But I have ALWAYS wanted a Sonor set, Steve Smith (Journey) STILL to me had the BEST deep power tom drum sound, that to me still hold up today, Tommy Lee played Sonor's on the early early stuff..I guess you can tell Im a rock drummer,. But like DW, Sonor has a HUGE presence in the Jazz fusion scene, This just proves how versatile a drum company/sound the are capable of achieving, But ALWAYS no matter what drum set I've owned, ANY of those years/decades, if you had of asked me "who makes the highest quality drums in the world?" My quick answer would of been "SONOR" No matter who had this or that, Tama was always good and innovation, especially hardware..I still have alot of respect for their hardware, which that have actually had to dumb down a bit to lower prices, who remembers "Stilt" stands? That was an awesome idea.. They had many many little innovative tricks like that! Ive always said, "Noone in the top of the field makes a bad drum!" really noonre did, It was to our benefit, We as drummers had soooo many amazing sounds to choose from, Now theres so many more its dizzying, Like Canopus, an AMAZING sounding drum from Japan, who like the Germans, (whom the worship engineering wise) are making an incredible sounding drum, But once again, ask me who makes such a fuss over their drum sound,I;ll quickly tell you, "SONOR" amd just watching this video, SHOWS you just how much they pay such incredible attention to detail, with decades of experience, from each person, I mean, wow, just wow! We as drummers/percussionist, are the most gifted people of our craft, we should be so very thankful, that there ARE companies like SONOR who care so much about a product, that they actually build a set of drums , that, if you can afford them, they ARE out there!!! A amazing group of people, who are so incredibly dedicated to their craft have built a set of drums, JUST FOR YOU! Maybe one day, before I get to very old,I can finally afford top get me that set of drums, Fortunately,I dont do big dbl. bass kits anymore,I DO however still like the 3 rack tom setup, and would LOVE to have 2 floor toms, But 1 still allows me to be musician behind a set.. I d use the toms as notes 8n a song.. I HIGHLY suggest, even if its JUST to say you've played AND most of all HEARD a set of SONOR's right in front of your face, please,do yourself a favor, Go and olay a set.. Put that sound and feeling in your head, I promise you, you'll never forget it! Some of us can afford them, those guys re so extremely lucky, Some of usjust have to dream, or save.. Used is always a good option.. Sonor does have some mid priced drums now.. That are STILL amazing pieces of mechanical, art! Everyone has a dream set, SONOR has always been mine, I do believe, due to my health issues,i may of reached the end of my high dollar drum purchases.. But you young skin slammers out there! Tommy Lee played them for a reason, And Jazz legends like Jack De Johnette played SONORS for other reasons! Just check them out! I promise you, thst you WILL be amazed! there are PLENTY of amazing well recorded vids on youtube to check out, Thanks for reading all of this f you did,i dont know why I typed all this, but I did, Thanks, and Happy Drumming1 sincerely, Anthony Wade Bradley
Wow! Sonor really is the real deal. What a great documentary! Thanks, Drumeo and Jared for the amazing inside look at my favourite Drum brand.
What a Masterpiece video... Absolutelly gorgeous!!! The factory, the people, the landscape, the beer and ths Schnitzel... Bravo Sonor, and Bravo Drumeo!
The only part missing, was the after credits Snare unboxing back in Canada, as the Avengers style 😎
So much personality in this video! Jared really brings a sense of childish joy to the whole video! Very awesome tour, thanks!
Magnificent i fell in love with Sonor in 1976 when i was 10yrs old but couldn't afford them until 1989 when i bought my1st kit a 2nd hand signature series 5 pce still have them today paired with paiste cymbals which will be next on the doco series how cool thnx cheers Drumeo
Fantastic Documentary-Well Done!! Thanks Drumeo!
What an amazing documentary! Great work Drumeo!
The gold hardwared black kit, shown in this beautiful docu, was the first kit I played when i started to learn drums in the late 80's. Very very emotioning, thanks for post it!
Loved his explanation of why they focus on quality, not price.
That's called marketing.
@@Diddle1414 No, he's pointing out that they are not interested in the race to the bottom.
@@ChipsNeeson It's marketing.
@@Diddle1414 If you want to get technical, the whole video was a marketing exercise.
@@ChipsNeeson Indeed, but in the lower mid section, especially their hardware is very sturdy. I was inclined to Tama for my first kit, tried it side by side with Sonor, and eventually went for the latter.
Top series are probably just a matter of taste across brands.
This is the best factory tour I've seen. Well done!!! I used to have a Sonor kit and loved it!
thank you!
How on earth does this filmic masterpiece have so small views. This series is so calming and informative
In Germany we don't say 'amount of glue' we say 'Leimauftragsmenge' and I think it's beautiful.
Literally "the amount of glue to be applied." German is a very literal and analytical language.
Great video, Jared. I always enjoy watching you. And I believe that Sonor makes the best drums in the world. I own a ProLite maple snare, as I cannot afford an entire set yet, but maybe someday I will upgrade the rest of my kit to Sonor.
I own a set of Signuature Series from the mid nineties and yeah, they are still amazing. Sonor is a world class instrument maker. You get what you pay for. Nice vid. Well done
I bought my pro force 3005 after I hit the bass drum once. Huge booming sound that I fell in love with instantly. I've had them for 14 years now and still live them
So awesome that you got to do this!
Thanks drumeo for such a great documentary. Sonor are simply the best drums out there. Keep drumming
Excellent production, really nice documentary, thanks Drumeo !
Awsome watching those craftsmen at work and that that factory produced my custom made Designer kit back in 2001.
The best purchase I ever made.
My favorite drums in the world. That I will never have a chance to play or own. Quality like nothing else. They have the best way to make shells. undersize them for better tonal range. Outstanding
You are so lucky Jared. Getting to travel the world and get drum workshop tours!?! You the man! Keep up the great work.
33:31 “Hey Jared! Stop playing drums!”
33:34 “Schnitzel Time!”
Min. 22 the smaller diameters - this is the SONOR vault. Great Video.
These are my favourite drums - and this vid was uploaded on my birthday. Thanks guys!
The production quality blew me away... the content I already expected to be interesting, but wow this was a treat to watch. Thanks guys.
Thank you, big props to Victor and Kyle for doing a great job on video and audio
When I took drum lessons in the late 1970's my drum instructor said Sonor are the best made drums of all brands. He even didn't own a set of Sonor drums (couldn't afford the best) , but knew it from reputation and experience of playing Sonor kits owned by others. I believe him to this day....although I don't own a set of Sonor drums!
Well done folks! Keep up to great work with more of these documentaries! Awesome!
I had a martini kit. terrific and musical. I am now the proud owner of a hilite set with the copper hardware. beautiful in every way. they thunder.
Can't believe I just came across this video. Well done! Still to this day...nothing sounds like a Sonor.
I still have my Sonor Force 3000 Scandinavian Birch kit 1996
same here =)
Same here. 1991 though Still awesome
I still have my s class pro's... it was the first kit I bought for myself.. still love them!!
I have sell my force 3000 ...🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ist was a Perfect sounding Kit
Finally got my SQ1 Gold finish (24", 13", 16") after almost 30yrs of dreaming and hoping that one day I can play Sonor drums. I have a Tama Starclassic as well and while the Tama kit is very good, the SQ1 takes the sound especially to a completely different level. Absoluetly blown away! Cannot wait to record in a couple of months playing this monster sound kit.
It's extremely true that digital drums creates the acoustic experience for a lot of drummers. When I started out, I had a Roland TD-9, but the first time I played an acoustic drum on stage, I will always remember it. As much as l love the convenience of digital drums and need to invest in them for my apartment as a professional drummer living in very costly neighborhood, the real drumming experience will always be acoustic. It's that feeling of the vibrations going back into your body... guitars don't suffer from this, piano much less - just the touch - but for the drums, it is completely different. Now 18 years later on my drumming journey, I'm looking to get a Vintage Sonor drum set :)
I got my Sonor in Italy in 1969 and had it till 1974 it was one of the best sounding sets I ever owned.
What an incredible documentary. Love Sonor drums!
they're all so proud and nice people, someday I´ll get my dream SQ2.
Thank you for making all the content you guys (and gals) do. You've helped me grow tremendously as a drummer and I love this documentary material, amazing insights many of us never get to see, thanks for taking us there!
You're welcome... thank you for watching!
I own a Sonor Vintage Series, was great to see my snare being made. Thank you, from your friend in Australia
This was SUPER well done. LOVE this. Hope you do more things like this for Drumeo. Keep the great content coming :)
Que lugar tan chimba, y la gente que labora ahí, me gusto cuando entrevistaron al señor que lleva más de 40 años haciendo baterías , Jared muy divertido se ve que es un tipazo. Además esas baterías son hermosas.
This was sooo worth the wait.
Nice Job Jared, I used to own a set and I wished I still had them. Great Drum Company. Thanks Jared and SONOR.
look at that gorgeous country. there's so much natural beauty in that part of the world, i think something about it must inspire a passion for craftsmanship.
I love Sonor kits, just so EXPENSIVE! Gavin Harrison is one of my favourite drummers and his SQ2 is my dream drum sound
I still have my Sonor Force 2000 kit from 1992. Absolute great kit.
Well Done Guys. 🤟
Wow!, esto realmente es un documental, una de las marcas que mas me gusta, alemana tenía que ser, felicitaciones, saludos desde Chile
WOW Jarod thanks for taking us inside the sonor factory !!!
That black outdoor kit looks and sounds amazing! Great show!
So klasse das Video. Und der „Spirit“ von der Geschäftsführung aber auch den Mitarbeitern macht es aus !
Seit 3 Tagen Besitzer eines Sonor Vintage Kits von Klaus Rupple...!
So geil !!
I watched this video during my covid quarantine days for about 10 times, it help me get through it😊
Jared..thank you. Im buying a Sonor AQ1, the shop in UK says that my kit is coming from the manufacturer, watching this fills me with awe....thank you so much for making this video, I cant wait for my Sonor kit.
You're welcome, Mike! Thanks for watching :)
That’s a seriously awesome production. Really enjoyed this! Looking forward to the future videos. Thanks🙏🏻
Excellent video Jared. Thank you so much for making it!!
This is the reason why Sonor is my favorite drum manufacturer. They just look and sound, incredible. Wish, I could afford a kit, lol, and Karl seems like a very nice and down to earth guy. And at 29:48, that fly looks like it was about to get killed 😂
Jared, what a fun look at Sonor! It made me miss Germany...and the Schnitzel!!! Keep the videos coming and enjoy that snare!!!
Hi, I'm from Indonesia. I want to say that's amazing documentary video which I ever watch. Maybe Drumeo can make a documentary video too about cymbals. That will be so amazing. In this video, I feel such as amazing when Jared play Sonor Prolite Series (7:49). The sound of bass drum is incredible. More punchy. Good job, Drumeo
i have owned 2 SQ2 kits, one heavy birch and one heavy beech. and i will own a third one in heavy birch. sonor high end birch drums are incredible.
Sonor, Gretsch and Ludwig (snares) have always been my top three. Always love getting new insight for a brand as legendarily toneful as Sonor 🤙
I had a sonor kit between 1987 and 2008 and I loved the sound easy to tune
This is great, really looking forward to the documentary...
