Marc expressed that he and his band wanted to focus on the sound that made Queen and Freddie special, and the concert I saw was note for note perfect to my ears. Your comment about Marc being like Freddie reincarnated was my thought as well when I heard him live. And it brings me great joy to now have so many people beginning to experience Freddie and Queen's music under a whole new generation. Thank you for your reaction video. It's great to see some insight from someone in the industry. From all the songs Marc has recorded and uploaded to RUclips .. my personal favourite is You Take My Breath Away - give it a listen when you have a moment (or even his "Mercurotti" - Nessun Dorma as performed by Marc, in two parts as Pavarotti, and Freddie).

The most impressive thing about Martel and infact about Freddie is the control of the vibrato at the end of the phrases. That is simply ridiculously amazing..

Roger Taylor said that while standing next to him and listening to him sing while closing his eyes, it was like standing right next to Freddie again - saying it was 'incredible really'. What a surreal moment that must have been for Roger - to hear that voice up close again. Marc has always been told he sounds like Freddie. 😊
Roger and Brian didn't want someone that sounded like Freddy. They wanted someone that was different in its own way and probably Marc doesn't have what it takes to be a frontman, except from the singing part

Great King Rat Actually he deserves a solid group of musicians who write original material to have him front their band with that amazing voice. Covers never bring real success.
Great King Rat Because right now he’s making a lot of money being a unique Freddie sound alike for a blockbuster movie... Hopefully he does branch out as a musician himself with all the great talent he has. I’m sure he will. But if he doesn’t want to it’s his life
If you missed it go back to the bridge between the first section and the opera. Marc's ad lib is hilarious. He looks directly into the camera, breaking the fourth wall, and rolls his eyes with a facial expression that says, "OK folks, now for the really hard part. One take. Can I do it?"
This man (Marc Martel) is truly amazing. Freddie would have been proud to have him by his side. Marc should by all means be Queen's lead singer. They are missing the boat by not not having his talent. Bohemian Rapsody is a favorite with me and Marc does it justice.
I think Marc is one of the most truly talented singers on earth. But the most amazing thing about him is that he is truly a genuinely good man. Very humble and down to earth. In fact Marc is the epitome of salt of the earth.
Brainicorn Studios actually i think they didn't want him cause it would feel like they were replacing Freddie (or some shit like that)... I think you can find their response somewhere online
Oh I see, well I perfectly understand the reasoning behind their choice to not include him in the band. Perhaps though Marc and Queen might be able to do a gig together or something. Just for a one time thing you know. I would be curious to see if Marc could bring back the energy and voice Freddie once had before he died.
yeah queen is well aware oh him. But they didnt chose him because they didnt want someone to actually be identicall to freddie, they didnt want to replace him and marc would for sure replace him
Marc does not sit there and study Freddie to sound like Freddie. He has heard the song enough times for it to influence the way he sings it. But he naturally sounds like Freddie. He sings Christmas songs and opera arias Freddie never touched and still sounds like Freddie. Marc has said in his interviews that the more he tries to sound "not like Freddie" the more he sounds like him. I liked the reaction, Adam. But you seem to insist that Marc is doing lots of work trying to imitate Freddie. He does not have any intention to imitate him. He just sings in the most faithful manner he can. They do sound alike to an amazing degree. I agree with you there. I like when you stop and point out certain examples of a singer's technique. More of that, please. It's very helpful. Thank you.
So true. Check out Marks Live Album (Live at the High Watt) to just hear him perform his Songs and then proceed to Thunderbolt and Lightning. To hear his remakes of some Queen Songs.
+Amy Carter Not quite true though. Marc does have a timbre close to Freddies but he says in several interviews how he has been working on sounding like him as much as he can (copying the little nuances of Freddies singing and even by making faces to sound more like Freddie, just as it is said in this video), and he also said more than once that the comparaisons to Freddie started only a few years after he started with his band, after that he was introduced to Queen's music and started studying Fredie's voice and technique. I will never understand why some of his fans want to deny the hard work he has put in this...
apokab Perhaps "we deny" it bc when *i* googled his name, i got a 2 y/o clip of MARC *stating* that he didn't know how to teach ppl how to sound like FM bc he never set out to do it, and is a George Michael fan. Let me link you. ✌💞
I have been a Queen fan since the 70s and I LOVE FREDDY and his amazing voice and I enjoyed BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, I have just seen and heard Marc Martel for the first time and I am so delighted with the experience

Wow. Marc made his way just so wonderfully. And your detailed and heartful analysis also makes me watch this clip. I just let you know another cover of Bohemian rhapsody sung by Forestella. You won't be dissapointed.
DNA test needed maybe? :) Seriously though. Either Freddie got acquainted with a very special lady in Canada or there was one who volunteered to carry his offspring as an experiment to see how well the Bulsara genes would carry into the next generation. I'm kind of damn serious about that. lol
A common drawn conclusion is that Martel was born in 1976 we know for a fact their was a queen concert a year earlier in Montreal and this was during prior to Freddie so to speak deciding he was bisexual, so the likelihood is relatively high
i’m so fortunate to have seen marc martel in concert then i got to meet him and get his autograph i cried when he sang love of my life bc he sounded just like freddie 😭
Marc is a God send, no doubt!! You have a lovely voice too, Adam. How about you do a Freddie Mercury cover? Doesn't have to be Bohemian Rhapsody, you pick one up. I'd love to hear that. Cheers from Patagonia!
@@aaron.saladbar it's because queen wants a front man that is unique, not a copy cat. No one can replace Freddie Mercury. Adam Lambert has his own style he adds to the songs and is an extremely talented vocalist in his own right.
@@nbshftr he is something fresh for the band. They want some one that will keep the spirit of Freddie, not impersonate him. I'm not saying Marc is a copycat I more meant that they didn't want another Freddie, it was the bands call.
Some just go into denial. They can't handle the truth. If Queen says he sounds just like Freddie, and put his voice in the movie, that is all the endorsement he needs.
Adam I really appreciate your explanation of how the notes are sung. You are teaching me about singing. And I get to listen to someone who actually does Queen songs to perfection.
Yeah... he's studied it, but the x-factor is that he feels and/or channels it. Pure life-experience empathy to pull this vocal off. You have to know and experience/understand his pain to bleed these lyrics. If people don't hear, register and resonate with your truest pain, they'll never hear your voice in music. Marc, he's 1 in a hundred million!
This man is amazing. I purely think that anyone can sound better if they make music from the 80's or do covers of the songs from then. The 80's were a great time were wonderful songs came out and they were all nice. I like any music from the 80's. I've never heard a single song I didn't like.
Yea, watching and listening to Marc gives me hope as a singer. I’m kinda naturally talented in singing since I never had voice lessons either, but I can use vibrato and good breathing technique naturally.
this may be a stupid comment/question but, does his physical similarity add to the uncanny resemblance?... his jaw, his teeth, does that play a factor? how his skull cavities are resonating? his vowel shapes and how he copies Freddies mouth movements are all learned and are amazing talent. Hes just amazing.
Yes. The shape of your mouth can influence how a sound is made beyond just how you form the word. Things like your jaw, palate, and tooth structure can affect how the sound like exits your mouth. Because he has a similarly shaped jaw, it's likely that it has some influence on how similarly they sound. Combining that with studying Freddie's oral posture and intonation is how he sounds so close.
But Marc has been told for years when he sang here in Canada in his band that he sounded alot like Freddie, it's not something he really tries to do, he just sounds alot like him lol
He is a fantastic mimic, his talent is prodigious and that he is self taught is amazing. He doesn't quite hit the same extremes that Freddy did, but Freddy pushed himself to serve the music. An incredible sacrifice to create musical pieces of art. So it's ok that Marc doesn't try to go that far. Even so, in my wildest hope I never thought anyone would approach Freddys style with such style and talent... Thank you Adam for your assessment. God bless
Mark is amazing! He's definitely put in the hard work to get to here. Just imagine how much time and effort he has put into to perfecting his craft. Great job Mark
No, he hasn’t studied Freddy’s sound, Marc Martel was the lead singer of the Christian band downhere for ten years before the “Somebody to Love” audition. Even when he isn’t doing Queen, you can hear the “Freddy” tone. Listen to his song “How Many Kings”, or any of the downhere songs. The videos are out there and are amazing!
I saw his band Downhere in a Nashville back in the early 2000’s and was blown away by his voice. Even then; he sounded like Freddie. Glad to see him get the recognition he deserves.
From what I believe I’ve heard, he was never formally vocally trained at least by the time he started his band Downhere. I’m guessing he has been doing lessons since then, but this is always what he has sounded. One of my favorite vocalists. Have you watched his video where he sings opera? Pretty impressive.
I saw Queen July 12 1986 at Wembley, then I saw Marc at the Calgary Stampede in 2013. I have to say that as a Queen fan I don't know that I have ever heard anyone that gives me the goose bumps like Marc Martel, he is so close to Freddie that it's scary and even somewhat eerie. I'd go so far as to say Marc does the best job ever even better than Adam Lambert.
Oh maaaan, I love this video. First of all I am a huge, life long fan of Freddie Mercury, and when I heard this today, I started googling to find the person who sang it. Then I got to your vid, and it's amazing to listen to the comments of someone who actually knows what they're talking about, and not just me with my ears and heart for music and Queen ;). I love how you constantly seem to be amazed with the accuracy of Marc Martel's rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. I had so much fun watching this video, and will most certainly follow your work here :).

Lord Champa bc a lot of ppl didn’t know about him before the movie
@@katarzynab946 a lot of people knew about him before the movie, he sings for the official queen tribute band
Great King Rat
Actually he deserves a solid group of musicians who write original material to have him front their band with that amazing voice. Covers never bring real success.
Great King Rat
Because right now he’s making a lot of money being a unique Freddie sound alike for a blockbuster movie...
Hopefully he does branch out as a musician himself with all the great talent he has. I’m sure he will. But if he doesn’t want to it’s his life
It's easy to become captivated by Marc's brilliant vocal performance and overlook his amazing piano playing.
If you missed it go back to the bridge between the first section and the opera. Marc's ad lib is hilarious. He looks directly into the camera, breaking the fourth wall, and rolls his eyes with a facial expression that says, "OK folks, now for the really hard part. One take. Can I do it?"
Marc’s absolutely amazing. I’ve never heard anyone else sound more like Freddie!! Actually makes me pretty emotional!!
This man (Marc Martel) is truly amazing. Freddie would have been proud to have him by his side. Marc should by all means be Queen's lead singer. They are missing the boat by not not having his talent. Bohemian Rapsody is a favorite with me and Marc does it justice.
I love how easily he flips straight into his head voice from the powerful chest
looks like Freddie wasn't done with life yet.
Ozkee ❤️
He wasnt done with life anyway... he didnt choose to die at the age of 45 ya kno
Freddie has two accounts and now is currently using the second one after deleting the first
Marc has been around a while here in Montreal. I’m so happy he’s finally getting proper recognition cause his voice and passion is surreal.
I think Marc is one of the most truly talented singers on earth. But the most amazing thing about him is that he is truly a genuinely good man. Very humble and down to earth. In fact Marc is the epitome of salt of the earth.
He needs to replace Adam Lambert and join Queen
Brainicorn Studios actually i think they didn't want him cause it would feel like they were replacing Freddie (or some shit like that)... I think you can find their response somewhere online
Oh I see, well I perfectly understand the reasoning behind their choice to not include him in the band. Perhaps though Marc and Queen might be able to do a gig together or something. Just for a one time thing you know. I would be curious to see if Marc could bring back the energy and voice Freddie once had before he died.
@@CallMeEitan That would be wonderful.
Right Now!!!!
THAT'S A BAD IDEA
When he was doing the operatic part, the first time I saw it, I noticed he was doing everything by himself, and I felt my jaw just drop
Adam Lambert's OK but hey...
Sir Brian May, please contact Marc Martel now Pronto!
They have and they didn't want them cause he's too much like Freddie
He also did some parts of the song in the movie
Ray he did a mix of rami Freddie and Marc for all of the vocals in the song.
yeah queen is well aware oh him. But they didnt chose him because they didnt want someone to actually be identicall to freddie, they didnt want to replace him and marc would for sure replace him
Hes still in Roger Taylors Queen Extravaganza as well as his own Queen tribute band.
I work in a theatre, and have seen Marc perform live. It's totally worth seeing. He's amazing!
So glad Roger Taylor discovered Marc Martel to keep the original sound of Queen alive. Good on them. Marc is gifted, and truly extraordinary. 💫

Thank you 😊
+Amy Carter
Not quite true though.
@Great King Rat / apokab I truly missed both your uplifting comments. LOL
apokab
Perhaps "we deny" it bc when *i* googled his name, i got a 2 y/o clip of MARC *stating* that he didn't know how to teach ppl how to sound like FM bc he never set out to do it, and is a George Michael fan. Let me link you. ✌💞
I have been a Queen fan since the 70s and I LOVE FREDDY and his amazing voice and I enjoyed BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, I have just seen and heard Marc Martel for the first time and I am so delighted with the experience
I missed out on the Freddie Mercury era, but this is the next best thing!
I honestly cried, he sounds exactly like Freddie Mercury🤟 R.I.P. Freddie Mercury🙏
Man: God, why did you take Freddie away?
God: Yeah, It's a mistake. Sorry.
Man: We need Freddie Mercury. 🙏🙏🙏

Wow. Marc made his way just so wonderfully. And your detailed and heartful analysis also makes me watch this clip. I just let you know another cover of Bohemian rhapsody sung by Forestella. You won't be dissapointed.

What a lucky neighbor.
Actually though this is Marc's voice, he just sounds alot like Freddie, always has! Marc doesn't have to try..
DNA test needed maybe? :) Seriously though. Either Freddie got acquainted with a very special lady in Canada or there was one who volunteered to carry his offspring as an experiment to see how well the Bulsara genes would carry into the next generation. I'm kind of damn serious about that. lol
I'm with you. He looks and sounds like Freddie and it's kinda scary
Lol it does seem like it could be
Over hyped
A common drawn conclusion is that Martel was born in 1976 we know for a fact their was a queen concert a year earlier in Montreal and this was during prior to Freddie so to speak deciding he was bisexual, so the likelihood is relatively high
@@nexonuturious6954 that's actually kind of scary lmao
i’m so fortunate to have seen marc martel in concert then i got to meet him and get his autograph i cried when he sang love of my life bc he sounded just like freddie 😭
He's got that crystalline quality that Freddie had on the best of his days.

its perfect , but somehow adam lambert is queen's frontman
I know! They even used his voice to blend with Freddie's for the Bohemian rhapsody movie

Some just go into denial. They can't handle the truth. If Queen says he sounds just like Freddie, and put his voice in the movie, that is all the endorsement he needs.
Great King Rat do you really not have anything better to do? You’re replying negatively on every thread here. Get a life 😂😂
@Great King Rat you liking your own comments shows how pathetic you are. Get a life you sad loser
@Lightbringer He doesn't impersonate... His voice is naturally similar to Freddie's. If you actually did some research you'd notice that
Great King Rat he can't sing?
Try to sing this song

Not Only is he a Clone of Freddie, He's a Great Pianist!
Fun fact: Marc Martel never took voice lesson
Some just have God given talents….the ones that know their gift and reject it are the ones that will probably be regret it one day.
Hey, if it comes easily... Take it.
Martel is a real athlete in singing. He is really passionate about what he is doing and does what it takes to sing better each day

God bless

Marc has an exceptional ear for music, so perhaps not as much as you think he did.
I think Marc's performance is brave and unique, and I love watching you admire it.
Janet Moore what he meant was he studied how freddie sang the song. All the techniques that freddie does during singing his songs.
Its Freddie, no Freddy
I saw his band Downhere in a Nashville back in the early 2000’s and was blown away by his voice. Even then; he sounded like Freddie. Glad to see him get the recognition he deserves.
I’m sorry not trying to be rude it’s just a little pet peeve but it’s freddie
Marc Martel: exists
Vocal coaches: It’s free real estate
From what I believe I’ve heard, he was never formally vocally trained at least by the time he started his band Downhere. I’m guessing he has been doing lessons since then, but this is always what he has sounded. One of my favorite vocalists. Have you watched his video where he sings opera? Pretty impressive.
When Freddie passed, I think he donated his vocal chords and brain to Marc.
Saw him live and he is AWESOME
Listening to Marc Martel makes me cry also as much as Freddie Mercury does when he sang. Such an unbelievably great voice!

Freddie Mercury has been reborn by the way he plays in the movie as the voice when there sing it's Marc
BB Marc was only used to do the live aid parts almost every other part was Freddie or rami Malek.
