On a random Saturday night I was contemplating the fact that if Freddie's vocal energy existed in this world at one point, it is sure to exist again. I found Marc's cover and I started looking for reactions to it. This particular video caught my attention because the vocal coach caught and enjoyed a lot of the same notes and facial movements that I did. And while I am no professional, it made me so happy to see someone else so happy watching magic being recreated !
R.I.P Freddie.... Its just been the 27th anniversary of his death. He died 10 years before i was even gone but growing up with his music its impossible not to feel the loss too... He was gone too soon but a legend never dies ❤
Its so amazing to see the joy in your face that his singing brings to you. Well obviously Marc is a one of a kind talent, but the smile he puts on your face is so nice to watch.
Performance of Marc is more amazing than others cause he masterizes so much to pass one time in head voice to chest voice and reversely without forcing .. and his vibratos are so similar to Freddie ..
I might get some hate for this but I think Queen is the greatest band of all time!and Freddy Mercury was the greatest vocalist,he had a such a good range
@@jasonpowell7305 Nope. there is not such thing as the best band. for me, Pink floyd is the best band in the world, but i dont hate you for liking Queen better. Queen is a hell of a band lol

In addition I love you too, for your expressiveness, spontaneity, knowledge of music, sense of humor, love of Queen and I don't mind your frequent interruptions, I welcome them. They are the essence of your style and character and they are not just empty words, you share your knowledge and emotions. I'm a big fan.
It's actually not because he was trying to play it like Freddie, he has to cross his hands because it would be impossible to play the high piano part while keeping the lower parts playing.
As a performer myself, I know it meant "thank the LORD I got through that without mistakes! now let's see if I get through the next section." It was a sarcastic nod to all the times before that he did it and messed up.
Marc's live sound is just like Freddie's voice in studio records, not like live singing, but just like studio "crystal perfect" work! That means a lot!
He is fantastic. Aside from how well he can sound like Freddie, he is just a tremendous singer. This song is extremely hard to sing well. Especially as a baritone and ESPECIALLY if you’re trying to get the feel of Freddie. I am continually blown away by this guy.
Martel is a freak just like Freddie. He is just one of those guys who has this amazing voice, who never took lessons, they just know how to do it like a kid learning to speak, it came natural to them. Martel says it's genetic, I believe it. They just have all the tools in place from when they were born, in the brain, the shape of the skull, jaw, vocal chords just like bird is born and can sing. They just know how to do it and can do it. Roy Orbison probably more than Freddie and Martel is a bigger freak. Just a one a billion voice, he could just sing like that and cant tell you how he can
Perfect comment. I remember an interview of Jeff Buckley. At this time I was the singer of my band, I knew I wasn't excellent but I would have love so much to sing like an angel. I tried hard, I tried all I can to use my almost 3 octaves vocal range the proper way. Took lessons, studied a lot... But my bone structure, thin neck, narrow jaw and my over muscular body shape was simply not made to produce a beautiful voice. Jeff Buckley was a god to me. And on this interview, the girl asked Jeff : "where do your voice comes from?". He just answered : "I don't know... From the same place as yours I believe". And that was one of the most terrible moment in my life. I realized that some people just received a gift and some don't, and there's nothing you can do about that. I'll never be the best singer, nor the most handsome guy on the planet, the best guitarist or the one who runs faster. It served me well, put my ego down and now I'm ok with that and just have fun. But sometimes, people are so talented, like Martel, Freddie, Jeff or Myles Kennedy and they don't even know why, and it's kind of... I don't know... Desperating if that's even a word.
@@IronLordFitness That's bullshit... Anybody can learn to sing. Sure, some people are born great, but that doesn't mean the people that aren't are doomed.

Marc doesn't try to sound like him, he just does. A few years ago Brian May and Roger Taylor wanted to start a Queen tribute band named the Queen Extravaganza and called for people to send in auditions. Marc blew everyone away. His audition had like 3 million plus hits the first week! He's incredible. They performed many times in England. Due to scheduling he is at the moment not the lead singer for that band but has a Queen tribute band of his own called Queen Celebration. All performances of both bands and Marc's alone are on youtube. His Love of my Life is beautiful as is his own Unchained Melody. The joke is Freddie had a "night out" and Marc is the result. They even have the same face structure and jaw. Marc lives in the US but is from Montreal.
@@papabearM3 Actually you are right and wrong. Yes, I forgot to add "ultimate" in front of Queen Celebration", I'm bad. And I didn't mean that Unchained Melody was Marc's own song, I meant it was a non queen song that Marc sings. And Yes, Zaret and North wrote the song and yes, Elvis sang it, although Zaret who wrote the words was hoping Bing Crosby would pick it up (and what a debacle that would have been). But the BIGGEST hit of it was sung by Bobby Hatfield and the Righteous Brothers. His version is toe curling and he made it one of my all time favorite songs in the world. Jeesh, are you happy now Mr. Know It All? You come off rather arrogant. I'm done.
@Daisy Profits, nine months before Marc was born, Queen played in the northeastern US, just a short drive from where Marc's mother lived. Did she drive down from Canada to see a concert, and stay for an encore? We want genetic testing! ;)

hand picked by Brian and Roger to front Queen Extravaganza..so yes indeed he sounds a lot like Freddie,at first possibly coincidental, but after 4+ years singing Queen songs on tour he's as close to a Freddie clone vocally as it can get.
@@cissyiniguez, it's not an imitation. He naturally sounds like that. He just enhances it by adopting more of Freddie's style. Sorry, but you lose.
Marc's vocals were used for part of Rami Malek's performance in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie...also, along with being part of the Queen Extravaganza, he performs with the Black Jacket Symphony when they perform A Night At The Opera in its entirety
He said he was told a bunch when he was in a Christian rock band that he sounded like Freddie mercury. He hadn't heard much so he listened to it and fell in love .
Before I watched Marc Martel's version of Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time: "You want to cover Bohemian Rhapsody? No way..." Afterwards: "Wow! Just wow!"

Adam Lambert = * One of the best singers today. * One of the best performers today. * Has his own artistic personality. * Authenticity *Audacious, theatrical and flamboyant. * True Queen fan since childhood. Marc Martel = * Freddie impersonator and several other artists. * Not part of the select list of the best singers and performers today. * Has no authenticity * Clumsy and without creativity on stage. * He was never a fan of Freddie and didn't even listen to Queen's songs. Don't know if anyone here knows this but Marc comes from a Christian Rock band called Down Here and has been singing for years obviously but he is Fantastic!
Rebecca this is 100% purely just Marc in all his wondrous glory! I actually had the pleasure of meeting and talking to him on quite a few occasions, and was lucky enough to meet all the Downhere crew for the first time when they played at our church (a very long time ago) when I was in High School. I developed my love for music from my mother at an early age, and my step dad has his doctorate in music so we were always learning being surrounded by music. After meeting them I went to every concert I could possibly make it to and at one point during their travels they happened to be passing through my hometown, so having previously performed at our church they reached out to our youth pastor asking if they could stop on their way through to perform again and our youth minister extended an invitation to host/ provide lodging by families within our youth group. My family hosted Jeremy and Glen at our home and the next morning the whole crew actually came to our school to attend one of our 1st Priority meetings. Funny thing about coming across this reaction video was timing at it's best and I was just out with my best friend of 20+ years for dinner and randomly Downhere/Marc's amazing voice came up in conversation and I told her I had just gone through my concert memorabilia and still have signed my posters, CD's and a few set lists from performances at church and other concerts I went to! I love Marc's voice and wish he'd do another Queen Tribute concert with the Black Jacket Symphony where I live.
This is such a bonkers reaction video - love it. The enthusiasm and style isn't what you usually get, plus mind-blowing knowledge (at least from a non-singer's view).
You really can't tell that it's not Freddie when you seen em live. I got to catch em in October and was damn near in ears the entire time. I would close my eyes and if I didn't know better I would've thought I was hearing Freddie, just unreal.
Everytime I watch Marc's performance of this tune especially in this performance, it makes the hairs on the back stand up and it brings a tear... He's just that good! Not to mention his phenomenal musucianship. This is a performance of a lifetime!
Back in the late 1980's and early 1990's after the movie Wayne's World they played Queen continuously on the radio and people playing it in their cars and music stores and i got burned out because everywhere i went they was playing Queen in Night Clubs you name it but 2 years ago stumbled on Mark Martel and was curious if he could pull it or fake it but once he opened his mouth i sat my glass of wine down and my jaw dropped and sat on my couch like a little child very attentive and alert not missing one note he sang..!!
It was great to see your reactions to Marc's singing. I'm not a singer by any stretch of the imagination, but I could fully appreciate his talents on this song. I've probably listened to it six times this evening. Beautiful voice and awesome piano playing.
Me, a non musical bitch: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS BUT HELL YES WE STAN ROGER. (I know it means he sang it higher, but everything else is just jibberish to me to me to MMEEEEE
You should find some quality video of him doing an actual show from his tour, he turns into Freddie, it's absurd! The band also nails every note and beat. They are all incredible.
To do this song only with the piano, shows how good he is. The choruses at the "opera" part of the original recording was a little "battle" between the voices of Freddie and Roger, there were many takes necessary, Marc sings this part alone. As an "old" queen fan (I saw them 1986 in Vienna), I think that Marc's voice is nearly similar to Freddies voice, about more than 90 %. I don't understand that Roger and Brian are touring with Adam Lambert. Marc Martel would be the better one, because he doesn't perform the songs only, he "lives" them. I think Marc's voice is one of the best in the business.
Spike Edney Maybe Roger and Brian don’t want someone who sounds so similar to Freddie because if Marc were to sing with them and then leave, fans might not be able to accept someone else. Adam’s contribution is to honour Freddie and his music, not sound like him. But wow, if I close my eyes, I can picture Freddie singing the songs Marc performs and for us fans to be able to do that is a gift. I don’t understand why some people trash Marc. He’s allowing us to have Freddie back for a bit in our minds again and we should be very grateful for that gift.
I think you're right of the similarity of Marc's voice. I like Adam too, but Marc's voice is out of this world. I've seen Freddie live and for myself it's Marc who has the same intensity for the old Queen songs. That's why I love him so.
This is a particular example of why I watch your reaction videos--vocal teachings aside, the knowledge of human anatomy and as it relates to singing is simply astounding. Cheers!

I will never get over how much Marc Martel sounds like Freddie. I love his cover of Don't Stop Me Now, he put a cool twist on it. Also, cute kitty; that's the exact type of relationship I have with my cat!
Yeah, that highest note "for meeee!" was sung on the album by Queen's drummer Roger Taylor.

Marc Martel is great, i close my eyes and hear Freddie Mercury!
He even crosses his hands when playing the piano just like freddie, I refuse to beleive they they're 2 diffrent people.

Just a one a billion voice, he could just sing like that and cant tell you how he can
o
Beautifully put, totally agree!
van tiu no it’s Martel
*Freddie Mercury has entered the chat*
Person 1: Marc can sing like Freddie
Person 2: No, he can't.
NEXT TIME ON MYTHBUSTERS
Queen: he sounds a lot like Freddie
People: are you deaf? He sounds nothing like Freddie! You are completely wrong!
Queen: *is confused on how they're wrong*
We want genetic testing! ;)

Your reaction is so natural, feels like sitting with a close friend, having a cup of tea and enjoying the conversation.
hand picked by Brian and Roger to front Queen Extravaganza..so yes indeed he sounds a lot like Freddie,at first possibly coincidental, but after 4+ years singing Queen songs on tour he's as close to a Freddie clone vocally as it can get.
You know, if Marc Martel was born back before the 1990 and Freddie Mercury was born around 20 years ago in the 90s, who would be the clone then? Lol.
@@Cee_Jay_Ward That's a pretty poor argument for trying to elevate Marc's imitation of Freddie.
@@cissyiniguez, it's not an imitation. He naturally sounds like that. He just enhances it by adopting more of Freddie's style. Adam Lambert =
* One of the best singers today.
* One of the best performers today.
* Has his own artistic personality.
* Authenticity
*Audacious, theatrical and flamboyant.
* True Queen fan since childhood.
Marc Martel =
* Freddie impersonator and several other artists.
* Not part of the select list of the best singers and performers today.
* Has no authenticity
* Clumsy and without creativity on stage.
* He was never a fan of Freddie and didn't even listen to Queen's songs. (according to Marc himself). So, he just saw in Freddie's imitation a profitable business.

You really can't tell that it's not Freddie when you seen em live. I got to catch em in October and was damn near in ears the entire time. I would close my eyes and if I didn't know better I would've thought I was hearing Freddie, just unreal.
I cried, I literally cried. Incredible. Thank you for this video.
First Of all she is beautiful. Second yes Marc Martel is the best singer for queen songs outside of the king Freddie Mercury

You should find some quality video of him doing an actual show from his tour, he turns into Freddie, it's absurd! The band also nails every note and beat. They are all incredible.
No he stays himself. That's what he says anyway.
Cheers!
Why this guy is not doing a gig with the Original Queen members?
