At some point, DIY comes into play and most people who buy these want to see how they perform with the included power supply. I understand the curiosity and have it as well, so we'll see...
@@2010HarleyDynaFXD with normal batteries you would be correct, but those are 14 volt batteries, so you would end up in the 42 to 45 volt range. I wouldn't expect big d to completely redo his bank to get to the proper voltage, I was just curious if the amp would run on that low of voltage. A lot of these amps have pretty large voltage ranges for operation. As was said above, the low end of the voltage range is 19 volts so it most likely wouldn't even power on.
I got this for Christmas, the one with the blue tooth antenna, paid $85 It’s sounds great, I use it on big 12” technics floor speakers, they are 200 watt speakers, good bass and sound without a sub. With a sub it’s a lot of sound. It’s great for a house party or possibly a warehouse. It’s loud and I haven’t had any issue running it for hours
After a careful consideration, mostly from all the positive reviews on US Amazon, I bought one of these a couple of years ago. Was so blown away by how good it sounded, I bought another one with the Bluetooth antenna. I actually originally wanted it for the USB playback, as this would provide superior sound quality. It's powerful, and loud. I have some large peak 500 watt speakers in my shed, that a previous system of mine, just could not get any decent sound out of. This brought them to life. I only put the volume just over quarter, bass just over half way. That is more than enough for the neighbours neighbours to feel the vibes. I tried the Bluetooth, but that did not compare to the sound quality from the USB. As mentioned sound quality is superb, can't fault it. Flac files play with no issues at all. On the negative the USB does not recognise folders. It will just play everything in the order they were added to the USB. So like the playback on the USB Denon systems, which do play folders, you will need to drag and drop in artist alphabetical order, if you want them to play that way. I have had it playing for a few hours, it got warm, but nothing more than that.
I just purchased one of these, to use with my gaming computer. The line output from the computer tower was fed into the RCA inputs because I couldn't get the Bluetooth to pair. The speaker outputs were connected to a pair of $100 bookshelf speakers with 6.5 inch woofers and 1 inch dome tweeters. They sit just 3 inches off the floor on a grate, with a 6.5 inch powered subwoofer (cost $50 new 14 years ago) between them connected to the amp's subwoofer output. I sit just two and a half feet away. The results were better than expected, especially since the main speakers are air-suspension (sealed cabinet). Very loud and very clean. I would say this amp is an excellent choice for use with computers.

Hi BigD, thanks for the test. One thing I noticed that you missed were that your tone controls were set to zero. One this amp and many other minis the tone controls need to be set to 12 o' clock for a flat response.

They were very honest when I talked with them about that and said it was cheaper to sell with a lower power brick, and their tests showed no audible difference. And, they are correct since in order to increase decibels by 3, you need x2 power.
I'm preparing for a bookshelf build. Good timing I've seen this one online, also felt it was a little pricey. But def decent power. Even at 8 ohms that's really not bad
i use 3 of these amps to do 5.1 surround sound from a computer audio connections. Works great and its nice to be able to quickly adjust the volume of different sound stages.
SMSL AD18 is slightly more money, more power, sub out, good bluetooth. I use this little amp to power my og mb quart qm160q 2 way components .625 cu ft vented and tuned to 50 hz along with a home audio sub that I built in 2.2 cu ft. This combo sounds surprisingly good and it fills a 2500 sq ft warehouse. My back wall is 60ft or so away and the bluetooth stays connected through a wall at that distance. I have been blown away by this little amp.
You sharing pretty accurate information, I'm audiophile aficionado, because your video I was so curious to check it myself so i order it, what a surprise, this little thing compete with my HK 990, I'm amazed and I listen it every day since then. Thank you for this video.
Whoa, that 2ohm output got serious for a second there! I wonder if the "protection" trip was from the power supply and internal caps running out of extra juice creating a fairly sharp voltage dropout. I definitely would like to see what this thing can do with more input power. For things like this and for your "lab" have a look at a adjustable, portable bench power supply. I got a very nice unit that can do 0-36v and 0-10 amps...so roughly 350w max for under $100. Worth every penny, I can't believe I didn't get one sooner!
This is certainly an alternative to taking chances buying a clunky used dinosaur. Coming from an old guy who just discovered the wonderful world of mini component stereo.
I've been rather pleased with Douk Audio and the quality of components they use. They are not the cheapest around when going by specs, but their stuff is usually above average in their price range.
Thanks! This TDA was not real tested before. It's much better than TPA 3116!!! TPA series 7A max, this TDA 11A!!! Amazing!! I build 2.1 loudspeakers since 1994...
Appreciate it, this is one I have had on the short list for a potential PC audio system. The lack of sub volume control at that price is the only thing that keeps it at the bottom of that short list
Been looking for a bt amp that doesn't suffer from either bad audio quality or a bump when turning on or off, as well as makes decent power with a sub/signal out. Thank you for the video!
Couple years ago bought a mini amp off amazon for 50 euros. It connected well and replicated sound well but it also popped, crackled and hissed over everything else. Chinese junk quality. Now however, I am still looking for a tidy mini amp solution for my desktop and seeing these Douk Audio products providing everything I could need and more - so I am thinking maybe taking a shot with these now. The audio test already convinced me these are solid units.
I use these amps quite a bit...solid units. Why did you play music with the bass/treble tone controls not at the middle ("0") setting? You have them both turned all the way to the left. Also, I run these Douk Audio M1 amps with a 12v to 36v (10a) step-up DC-to-DC booster. Much better power output and there are zero issues with blowing caps/burning things up. The included 32v power adapter is alright...but, with a 36v (10a) booster...uncorks the power even more. Curious if it would get all the way up to 160w @ 2 ohms in your test at 36v.
I'm curious about the power supply. Just like the Amp is rated way above its actual specs, the power supply is likely over rated. You should test it with 3 batteries in series! I'll bet those dynamic numbers increase!
People like to bash the Polk psw10 subs... sure they don't go super low frequencies but they are great for 95% of music you throw at them, and can still get down to about 35'ish Hz.... for movies though, they are OK for a small apartment. I have 2 of those
I know this video has been out a long while. But the power input had 19V-35V and you fed 14.4 volts and it still worked. I wonder what other products do the same thing.
I found your video organized with good information, and see you have a lot of videos on amplifiers. I am used to the analog world but learning from scratch with Bluetooth/modern setups. Can you recommend a video for me? I’m looking to set up an office with ceiling speakers and would like to see if it’s possible to do it without wiring.
BiG D not for nothin but I bought the Rockville amp you dynoed a while back to use for the kids 15 . Dude that shit hits a ton ! If I ever think about getting anything , I always check up on BiG D first to make sure !!!
Have you thought of getting a bench power supply and seeing if you put more voltage and current to the amp if it will go higher on it's output wattage? Maybe max out the voltage in to 36 volts @ 10 Amps? If it worked, a buyer could just get a larger "brick" to power the amp. THanks
I have bench power supplies that go up to 30V, used a voltage booster in the earlier amp board tests. I think most people who buy these are curious with the features and output with the included accessories, but I understand the curiosity of bumping the voltage...
The ELACs sound quite good. But to me it seems that the subwoofer does not blend in very well. It adds a kind of rough rumble rather than a smooth bass extension. This to me is obvious though I am listening just via a pair of 2.0 stereo speakers.
Unless size is an issue, Id rather have a 2nd hand Reciever off Craigslist for next to nothing. I do like the look of some of those tube amps though. More home amps on the dyno!
u need a 36v 10amp psu for these tests. i recommend purchasing a meanwell branded 36v 10amp psu .i recently blew this chip up after upgrading all the filter caps and making it 10000uf at the amp board. then i was running 60hz tone through 4ohm heater coils and just as it began to clip poof it made sparks and smoke and the ic legs just melted clean off from the low side fets of both channel .
How does it read the song lists of the UBS, level of file it can read? How many songs can it read on the USB drive, example 1 - 99? Can it read file on the thumb drive such as CD 1, song 1-99, the CD 2, songs 1- 99 (CD 1 - 99)? Or it just read linear 1-99 songs in each USB drive? How do you skip to the next song or go back to the previous songs, etc?
Loved the video big dummy! You should def do some tests on those nvx Xad amps that hifi Vega did one on. I ordered one to power a 10 solo square in my work car . Also those incriminator ia amps which are beasts and have all the bells and whistles!
Great video per usual. Could you do a series on the hide away “underseat” loaded subs, like the cerwin vega vpas10, kicker hs10, and the rockford fosgate ps-8?
Great video boss! Polk powered subs have a flaw like the rest unplug them or caps go boom over the years. Do a video of the amp to replace the burned up polk amp
I've had this one for a while and currently use it mostly with an AT-LP120XBT-USB-BK record player and a pair of Advent Baby II speakers that were recently refoamed. The RCA input sounds really good and gets to a decent volume without distortion and there is good mid-bass in this setup but not much in the low bass as I'm not using a sub and the Advents don't get terribly low. I've not used the USB input, and I find the audio quality of the bluetooth and the connectivity to be pretty poor. Tone controls are a nice feature and work well. I agree that the build quality is solid and I like the idea of using the banana clips as the binding posts are kind of cheap but definitely better then spring clips.
@@wal No I have the older model. I would think logically that the one with the antenna would have better Bluetooth signal. I was only getting 10 feet on the old version from my iPad to the device. BTW I enjoyed the review, going to subscribe, keep up the good work!
I'm huge into car audio but know nothing about home audio. Could I take this amp run 2 speakers and then run the sub out to a powered subwoofer? All getting a Bluetooth signal from my phone? Edit* it looks like this is the way Big D has it hooked up.
I was just noticing the content on your bluetooth app in your phone. What does BBC hook up to lol! I've enjoyed your channel for years. I was just messing with ya.
@@stephen0993 I'm using mine to power some Aperion Audio bookshelves at the moment. At one point, I had them driving Polk R500s. That wasn't an ideal match, but it got the job done. I like the sound of that chip.
How would you compare this to the Fosi Audio BT30D? I have one of those, but the sub output is worthless, I can't turn the gain on the sub (Klipsch R-12SWi) past 1/4 with out it having a serious hum. Does this have the same issue, or is it clean?
Anyone>> is this recommended for ex: a digital keyboard with bass line out to sub and a stereo tower like klipsch and one mic, not professional but for jam sessions???
Maybe they are the good caps, might be the reason for the $100 price tag.. not bad if you just have some decent speakers and no head unit as the Amp can be used for the head unit... nice video as always brotha
Could just be that one time though, Big D. Lol. Not a bad setup if you don't have a head unit for some decent bookshelf speakers though. Love your amp dyno videos though man!
Could you test those 12v AK380 amps on eBay and amazon? I always wondered how they tested compared to the more expensive budget mini amps but have never found any information on them.
Stupid comment of the week I know, but. I do high end home AV, Control, and home theater's. For EVERYTHING else I am not a Monster Power fan but their banana plugs are (IMHO) the best!!! You should try them.
Good video. Douk makes nice budget electronics. Have you looked at the Aiyima B01 yet? It has amazing capabilities. 2.1 output 50x2 + 100w sub channel for passive speakers/sub (using the TPA3116D2 chip) Sub out for active/powered sub (few class D amps have active AND passive sub out) Sub crossover knob (control) Sub volume knob Bass knob Treble knob Main Volume knob RCA Line input Bluetooth 5.0 USB input (for computer and mp3 drives) Allows a 24V 10a power supply adapter for 240 watts. This is the Holy Grail for a small, budget Class D amp-in-a-case. $57.05 for the amp and $17.99 for the power adapter. I add tiny Micca Covo-S cube speakers and a small passive sub from a thrift store, for an excellent budget system, perfect for the office, garage, or even the living room or rec room. The Fosi BT30D Pro is similar but with the TPA3255 chip if you want to push even more power (though no USB-in or sub line-level out). Needs a very beefy power supply, though, like an ATX switching power supply that can deliver 450w+, which makes setup a lot more tricky.
It is pricey, you can get non Nobbrand for about 20%-50% off. They are usually the same level stuff. 2.1 TPA3116 Bluetooth 5.0 Audio 50Wx2+100W Digital Amp is $45. But the sub out is powered, which is actually harder to find a non powered sub these days. This amp I have and its pretty nice. The start up is in Chinese, but maybe I can change that at some point. Works great as a computer desktop amp with my high sensitivity bookshelf speakers.
U should up the power from the power brick to a battery bank when going over the rated power, so ur not limited by the power supply. U can really see what it can produce if u give it more juice.
I tested this based on what was available. Using large power supplies or extra batteries is useless to people who are just buying this and interested in the actual power
I'm sure the caps are genuine. The Chinese know that they tend to make a difference so this is why it costs a bit more. I think they manage to buy stuff at good prices too. I often find it cheaper to buy western parts from a Chinese distributor!
hello and thaks for the video. I just recently bought a pyle mini amp of ebay that had a lot of outputs I needed but, was totaly useless due to amp noise coming out of the headphone and speakers. so, BIG question. does it have amp noise (hum} that can be heard from the speakers? thanks.
I have this amp and I love it! I'm currently driving a pair of Jamo S801 speakers, but I'm contemplating getting the Sony SSCS5 speakers. Great little amp for the price!
Love how the only thing that makes these things "mini", is the fact the PSU isnt integrated into the enclosure. I am so waiting for these guys to finally produce a model with a properly rated PSU inside the box. Of these amazon brands, id say I like "TOPPING" over the rest.
Five watts per channel difference a little concerning there. I could see maybe one watt. Thanks for the video I’m looking to tear apart a pair of speakers and mount them and custom boxes this is the type of amp that might work but I don’t like the channel wattage difference. Thanks for the video keep it up That way I don’t have to buy my own Dyno
what was the voltage of the power supply since it has a voltage of 19 to 36 volts. I wonder if you was able to use 36 volts 10 amp power supply if it would be able to get the 160 x2
I bought the T9 from Aiyiama. I want to have more watts and like to buy an extra power amp. Is it possible to use with a T9, can I connect some type, can you advice which poweramp I should use for it? And what you think about to have an (extra) DAC also connected at the T9 and or Poweramp?
Hi great review. Im thinking of buying one and was just wondering what kind of power brick you would suggest to get the best out of it. I'm from the UK and we run on 240v if that makes any difference. Thank you.
I have a psi star 🌟 power 5000k Amplifier and I am curious about what it really puts out.. it has two power and two ground hookups.. It works with just one of each..but what is the difference..? Do you have to hook two up?? And will it hurt the Amplifier if you don't?

So glad to see more of these videos coming. Cant wait for more to come and maybe so new 2022 budget amps videos. Keep up the great work my man!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Appreciate it, this is one I have had on the short list for a potential PC audio system. The lack of sub volume control at that price is the only thing that keeps it at the bottom of that short list
Yes that is a bummer!
I actually considered this Amp and decided to spend a little more for the Loxjie A30 due to optical, coaxial and remote. Nice review!
Good deal
Been looking for a bt amp that doesn't suffer from either bad audio quality or a bump when turning on or off, as well as makes decent power with a sub/signal out. Thank you for the video!
This one fits all the requirements plus the newer version has BT antenna for better range
Loved big Ds channel!! Always get the truth on real amp power. Enough of these companies false Max power rateings!!!!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I'll look into that. Douk wasn't clear about the Bass/Treble controls, I thought they were boost only, so I left at minimum
I have 2 of those
Check out Aaron’s Audio corner as he did an extensive analysis of the 10” budget subs and the Polk came out on top
Big d, you’re the father I never had. Keep it up!
Not going lie, that's wierd.
We’ll at least you have the answer to “who’s your daddy?” 😊
@@kriptic22 I’m a weird mofo, always will be
I have a nobsound '69 JLH 10w amp and it as amazing. One of my favourite amps for home use.
The old school equipment you used to review, now that was worth my time.
Why do you even review crap like this?
I know this video has been out a long while. But the power input had 19V-35V and you fed 14.4 volts and it still worked. I wonder what other products do the same thing.
Note on this one, the USB input is only for U-disc. It's a simple reader and not a DAC for connecting to PC.
I just paid 87$ for fx audio D802C.And smsl q5 pro is $140. I like them both. I also own fx audio D502.
Thanks for the feedback 👌
Dayton brand: 100x2 100x1 sub... i have one with dual 5.25" with tweeter per side and a dayton 6.5 classic sub...it's amazing
Great review and tests. Thank you so much for the song number memory test.
Man finally a good mini amp that doesn’t suck !!!🔥🔥🔥good job big d. I think this would be a greaT vinyl record amplifier
There's actually a few that don't suck . This is pricey compared to others, and it doesn't do much more at all
BiG D not for nothin but I bought the Rockville amp you dynoed a while back to use for the kids 15 . Dude that shit hits a ton ! If I ever think about getting anything , I always check up on BiG D first to make sure !!!
👌😬👍
could you use one dolby atmos pre-amp and then hook up various of these amplifiers for all the atmos channels?
I have this mini amp and it’s an absolute beast
Thanks for the feedback
I bought the new fosi brand mono amp and I strapped it on a subwoofer, I'm sure every little mini amps are all little beasts.
This unit looks like the Coustic 60 watt two knob booster(Bass & Treble) I had in 1985.🤜🏿🤛🏿
Unless size is an issue, Id rather have a 2nd hand Reciever off Craigslist for next to nothing. I do like the look of some of those tube amps though. More home amps on the dyno!
I'm testing an old Yamaha receiver from the 90's now. Vid may be on my Wheelie Williston channel when it's complete
I wish manufacturers would upgrade the USB for much larger flash drive capacities. 32 is not enough. Good review.
Majority of people stream...
Those really aren’t bad numbers and the sound output was really good for a $94 amplifier.
u need a 36v 10amp psu for these tests. i recommend purchasing a meanwell branded 36v 10amp psu .i recently blew this chip up after upgrading all the filter caps and making it 10000uf at the amp board. then i was running 60hz tone through 4ohm heater coils and just as it began to clip poof it made sparks and smoke and the ic legs just melted clean off from the low side fets of both channel .
Great story
Would love to see some more home Amp tests!!
Want to upgrade frome this ancient Onkyo, and make a beautiful tube Amp setup for all the haters.
Oh man sounds killer 🤙
Do it bump doe?
Sounds pretty good!
Hell yes it does. It shakes the house with 2 technics 3 way floor speakers with 12” woofers
just got my amp and the speakers you use. I'm using bluetooth and not getting much volume. I like the setup. I wonder what i've done wrong
Been thinking about that
Nobsound make a really nice RCA attenuator with Alps pots etc which would make a great audiophile bass remote
Great video boss! Polk powered subs have a flaw like the rest unplug them or caps go boom over the years. Do a video of the amp to replace the burned up polk amp
Thanks for the comment and also for being a loyal subscriber for more than 4 years!
Yeah spring clips are the worst. Do you have the newer model with the BT antenna?
@@wal No I have the older model. I would think logically that the one with the antenna would have better Bluetooth signal. I was only getting 10 feet on the old version from my iPad to the device. BTW I enjoyed the review, going to subscribe, keep up the good work!
please test it with a 35v power supply i would like to see that
I doubt it would be much more than a few extra watts, I'll try this if I can
I really like the HSU subs.
And I've heard really good things about the Elac speakers.
I'm huge into car audio but know nothing about home audio. Could I take this amp run 2 speakers and then run the sub out to a powered subwoofer? All getting a Bluetooth signal from my phone?
Edit* it looks like this is the way Big D has it hooked up.
They should make one with inputs and a function switch, similar to the Realistic/Radio Shack jobs of the past.
I was just noticing the content on your bluetooth app in your phone. What does BBC hook up to lol! I've enjoyed your channel for years. I was just messing with ya.
It looks exactly like the Fosi Audio BL20C. Probably the same Amp just with different branding.
Better power supply
@@SnapperX3 you're right, thanks for the info, it helped me decide today on this Douk model, I'll see how it goes.
@@stephen0993 I'm using mine to power some Aperion Audio bookshelves at the moment. At one point, I had them driving Polk R500s. That wasn't an ideal match, but it got the job done. I like the sound of that chip.
@@SnapperX3 The Polk R500? Woow man, those are a myke tyson to the box world, unbeliavable this tiny box can handle those!
The Elna caps are several dollars each. Hard to know with these Chinese amps as many are fake
Thanks for the suggestion ✌️
Good video. Douk makes nice budget electronics.
Have you looked at the Aiyima B01 yet? It has amazing capabilities.
2.1 output 50x2 + 100w sub channel for passive speakers/sub (using the TPA3116D2 chip)
Sub out for active/powered sub (few class D amps have active AND passive sub out)
Sub crossover knob (control)
Sub volume knob
Bass knob
Treble knob
Main Volume knob
RCA Line input
Bluetooth 5.0
USB input (for computer and mp3 drives)
Allows a 24V 10a power supply adapter for 240 watts.
Prob so, but do they have fake Elna caps? 😜
@@wal LOL...how can you tell if they are fake. Maybe snip one off and descent it vs a real one?
@@wal LOVE watching you channel bud!!!
U should up the power from the power brick to a battery bank when going over the rated power, so ur not limited by the power supply.
U can really see what it can produce if u give it more juice.
I tested this based on what was available. Using large power supplies or extra batteries is useless to people who are just buying this and interested in the actual power
@@wal mo powah baby!
The linked version has a bass frequency knob for the sub out. Pretty cool
Sweet! I’ve had this one for a few months
I'm sure the caps are genuine. The Chinese know that they tend to make a difference so this is why it costs a bit more. I think they manage to buy stuff at good prices too. I often find it cheaper to buy western parts from a Chinese distributor!
What about the power on and power off speaker pops, at max volume with inputs open, and grounded?
hello and thaks for the video.
👌😬👍
Love how the only thing that makes these things "mini", is the fact the PSU isnt integrated into the enclosure. I am so waiting for these guys to finally produce a model with a properly rated PSU inside the box. Of these amazon brands, id say I like "TOPPING" over the rest.
Thanks for the feedback
Pretty sure the acclaimed Aiyima A08 has a built-in power supply.
I think you have to try with 32 volts DC power supply, then may be the output power will get at least 2 X 100 watts 😊
does this amp have its own dac for usb inputs? if so, what model and chipset?
thanks. great videos, btw.
I doubt you’d ever notice it
Honestly a nice compact little P.A. sounded decent too for the money. Love the vids brother keep em coming 👍
Thanks! Will do!
what was the voltage of the power supply since it has a voltage of 19 to 36 volts.
Thank you.
Thanks for this. If you can find a nice but inexpensive one with a Mid control, please let us know!!
Thanks buddy, nice review. Top content
Much appreciated!
I have a psi star 🌟 power 5000k Amplifier and I am curious about what it really puts out.. it has two power and two ground hookups.. It works with just one of each..but what is the difference..? Do you have to hook two up?? And will it hurt the Amplifier if you don't?
I'd love to see Wuzhi Audio zK-1002 dynoed. Claims 100w X 2. It's sounds great just want to see what it really puts out.
I Love these little amps 👍🏼👍🏼
Me too! There are SO many of them, hard to pick one out
If you like this, take a look at the SMSL AD-18!
