I hate the Facebook memories… I don’t want to be reminded of that shit

What I initially loved about Facebook was the support groups. Now I’m finding it has become extremely unsupportive and the fact I’m relying on fb for support tells me I’m not getting enough support IRL so I need to look at my relationships

I definitely appreciate the aspects of Facebook that allow me to remain connected with people I otherwise wouldn't be able to for reasons of geography or convenience. I think you touched on most of those with your list. It's just too bad that the ethics within Facebook are questionable at best and diabolical at its worst.

Well said, and it seems like every day the needle moves closer to “Diabolical”. I would love to see Facebook or some other platform do what Facebook did back at the beginning without all the questionable stuff (I’m probably dreaming on that though!)

I honestly think that movement is happening and will probably take place in the next few years. A return to simpler platforms that do exactly what they say they do. This one connects you to friends? Done. This one is a photo sharing app? Done. The all-things-to-all-users or everything-and-the-kitchen-sink models are starting to fail. The UI is just not fun anymore. Add to that privacy and security risks, it feels like we're going to see a return to simpler platforms. Or, at least, better managed ones.

Yeah I think you’re right, the momentum really feels different around Facebook. And something I really didn’t enjoy about Facebook was the UI, it’s become so crowded and ugly. It’s like walking into a hoarders home trying to find something valuable!
I really hope to find a simple and enjoyable app soon 🤞
