This motor is a beast!! i wanted to also add that I'm actually enjoying seeing this Ottsix shocks, they look very controllable even when you bump it, they work well in both slow and high speed . It looks that the thick oil works great

@@paulclancy2404 haha very true. My neighbor told me I was crazy for clearing out so much woods and then putting in my own crawler course with rock section and wooden bridge. Someone showed me and I tried it myself... you don't have to remove any of the bottom links to get the motor/transmission assembly out. You just have to remove the top T portion of the roll cage (4 screws). The body piece for the drivers and motor/transmission will come right out of the front of the Capra. I don't know why they didn't show this in the manual. I would have kept pulling the whole thing apart like you have. I did put bullet connectors between the motor and ESC so that helps quite a bit too.
Been thinking the 20t crawlmaster pro partner to my hobbywing 1080 for my Cherokee kit than expensive axe 3300kv...i still preferred this brushed 5 slot motor:) great video buddy!
@@ExocagedRC I put a cheap helicopter motor in mine (Surpass 3548 1100kv) with a Hobbywing EZEun and it's not that noisy. It did snap two half shafts though.
I want to use my dig unit but I’m feeling too lazy right now and I don’t want somthing to go wrong on the trail so I might just leave mine locked out till maybe some day my local shop builds a course and has a comp.
Changes roll axis and antisquat, I thought about cutting it off but wanted to keep it there just in case I want to test out some different setups. If you're using the bottom hole like me and are happy with it then yeah trim that piece off.
So the part (AXI231005) is 12 bucks and available so why worry. Besides, there will be a metal one available soon. Probably adjusted for the bigger motor.
When you built your corse.was there lots of thought on placement? Or did you just wing most of it? Asking about the concrete placement. I'm building one also
Hey guys! noob here and I have a question, hope you can enlighten me. Why would someone use a low turn(High KV) motor on a crawler? Or is it only recommended for a light setup with 2 gear transmission? Sure there will be scenario sometimes where you will need some speed, but you mostly need torque and smoothness, correct? So a High Turn/Low KV motor would me more appropriate for a crawler. Would really love to hear from more experienced RC folks. Thank in advance. cheers!
Nice work getting that 550 in there. As for the Pro...you get what you pay for. Holmes Pro motors are awesome. I'm curious of what makes more power....the Crawlmaster 540 Magnum or Crawlmaster Pro 550?
Tom Lucas I asked Holmes about this and he isn’t sure either. This is the quote I got back from him. So basically this whole 550 thing is cool but not needed. Magnum has a larger diameter rotor and 3x the magnet strength. They are pretty even, although I haven't gotten them on the dyno yet.
Why not move the transmission forward and redrill the mounting holes instead of trimming things? I've never seen a capra in person, but it did look like there was room in front of the pinion to do so.
The trans isn't easily moved due to the way it sits in the belly, its fitted to go in that exact spot. now with the new bellys that are being worked on that may become a normal design feature.
cagerage21 I hack the silver/titanium color ones. In some ways yeah they are better but the GT5 is also a really good radio. One of the important things about the hacked radio is all the mixes like you see with the 4ws. Way way easier than the gt5. Also momentary switches for winches and stuff.
Great video!!! is that factory length or is it longer, ive never had rock crowlers before, how could i build one exactly like this one you have?? And do you offer info on the phone id really like to talk to you about this crowler. thanks
do you run expo in your throttle channel? I'm looking for a pinion for my capra RTR but none of the gears i'm finding specify the shaft diameter. advice? are they all the same? FYI your holmes crawlmaster pro 550 link seems to be broken.
Exocaged RC yeah that’s why I really and leaning for the Capra. While I wait for the rtr ima start building a rock track. Similar to yours. Any tips or suggestions?
Kenneth Garza yeah. Do what you think you want to drive. I need to do a park video just showing how I’ve built the stuff I have. Maybe I’ll be able to make that video this weekend. Also you’ll need concrete and wood. Save the concrete bags to use a filler to fill holes you don’t want to save concrete.
@@rcgarageph7228 due to the can design of this vs a normal 550, the normal one wont fit even with trimming. Look at my other videos with the 540 size Crawlmaster Sport 13t its only $15 and runs great, not as good as this but plenty good.
Exocaged RC your Capra has a trick for every scenario now. 4 wheel steer plus dig, improved steering angles, it’s pretty trick. Mine has the Reef 444, HW 1080 and HH Crawlmaster Expert. I still haven’t sorted my tires out.
Bryan Larsen well the two best tires so far are the KLRM’s like you see here and with the right foams the Proline Crawler TA like I tested on the Superlite. Unless something else comes up you’ll see those prolines on the Capra tomorrow

It will change the Squat/Anti-Squat configuration. This is a force which will compress (squat) or raise (anti-squat) your shocks when applying power.
