First I would like to say I really liked your video. I learned some new tricks to try out. I also thought I would mentions Western Raku has very little to do with its Japanese history. Raku was the surname of a family that ran a pottery in Japan. Post fire reduction is a western invention popularized by Paul Soldner.
Cool looking studio. I've done a lot of horsehair and copper fuming raku and plan on doing some naked pieces next. Love doing smoke firing as well (check Art from the Flames) Great video.
Thanks for this..... You say "after reduction...." but how long does reduction take? Is there a risk of the pots breaking from the shock of cold water dunking if you don't wait long enough? Cheers
WHY??? Does every video start with "add slip to pot". What about all the process that comes before that. Sigillata or not, can you start with bisque ware or do you need to start with leather-hard or fully dry ware, etc. etc. etc.
Hate the idea using animal fur. Yes the effect is a beauty. I guess you dont know an artist 'stamina and control', and it means you dont have a concept of what you created or at at least a philosophy of all your work. Its daydreamin, its dangerous for yourself bcs y dont know when to stop.
watching the organic process makes the final pot even more beautiful for the understanding of the simple yet timeless way it has been created.
I haven't done pottery since High School but I think I may again soon! Thank you Heather!
This really made me understand as to what Raku is and how the effects are created. Thanks

It's pronounced "rahkoo", not "raakoo".
