There are more than 2 parties but the others arent well known.Youre right,If people new what the other parties are capable of thre other parties would win .
FRRNK C yeah I agree, and that’s why I said major parties. People like AOC who largely disagree with the democratic leadership still join the party because they have virtually no shot at winning if they’re not in one of the 2 big parties, and democrats are closer to their beliefs than republicans (that’s also probably why there’s a greater divide in the democrats than the republicans. Because the republicans are farther right than the centrist democrats are left, most right wingers are fairly comfortable in the Republican Party, while more center politicians tend to join the democrats, but left wing politicians also join the democrats because it’s the closest major party, creating the divide between the center and left wing factions of the Democratic Party)

@@eatingcereal5646 Not when comparing to the US. Candidates like Sanders and AOC wouldn't offer much to Australian politics. There are many studies showing quite the opposite. Here is one from a leftist news org - www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/11/28/democratic-party-has-moved-left-so-has-us-this-explains-how-why/
The ultimate problem with America's political structure? The two-party system. The solution? Nationwide ranked-choice voting. Maine is already doing it.
The two party system is very fixable, vote for a different party, the problem is the masses continuously believe x party is “unelectable” (especially as someone from Ontario), yet as a Canadian we continuously see that smaller parties can get elected or have a major say in parliament (the New Democratic Party was the federal official opposition a long time ago, the Greens and New Democrats have gained power or influence in multiple provinces especially in British Columbia) yet there are people who still believe that the only “electable” parties are the Conservatives or Liberals within Canada, a ranked system will help, but ultimately as we’ve seen in Australia it won’t change anything, especially when minor parties in the USA receive a maximum of 2% of the vote what needs to change is A. Voters need to genuinely realize there’s other options, and to start voting for their beliefs B. Get rid of the money in politics (requiring x amount of donation money to be considered a party/candidate elect) C. The mainstream media continuously producing propaganda and shoving limited options in your face, I mean as an American did you even know there was Green and Liberation conventions? Do the majority of people even know the presidential candidates of either party? Or their platforms?
Sadly.....there will be no other opportunity like that because Sanders will most likely not run for presidency again. Maybe someday AOC can run for presidency, she’s a great representative for “modern” society.
@@WangMotions Maybe today they wouldnt, but in the future, sometime in 2030 2034, they are likely to win, Bernie would be probably dead by then, but AOC is going to be young and alive.

Both of them have unsustainable tax solutions. Andrew Yang is the only one who have a technological foresight to invest in things that the next generation understand
it's just the spoiler effect. small party voters realize that their preferred candidate will pretty much never win the election, and so instead focus on keeping the candidate they really dont want to win from winning, which will always lead to a 2 party system.

You either made your living, or lived destitute. There was no unemployment benefit, no social security, and no medicare. There was no distribution of wealth, so it didn't matter how many people there were. Under Bernie, there would be even more of a social safety net. Even if you allow all migrants free entry, and make them citizens on arrival, the taxes paid by (mostly) low-skilled workers is not going to pay for free medical care, free education, and all the expanded programs Bernie offers. They'd be net losses on the system. And I get the whole point of "democratic socialism" is to put people before cash, but there are still bills to pay. At some point, 200 million people making $60,000 on average are not going to be able to sustain this net. And this segues nicely into my next point: over-taxation. Now, is Amazon's loophole of dumping money into failing businesses to avoid taxes a good thing? No. I firmly believe tax evasion should be curtailed, and loopholes should be patched. At the same time, taxing billionaires out of existence is not a good option. Bernie wants to do just this, claiming "I don't think that billionaires should exist." Source : www.nytimes.com/2019/09/24/us/politics/bernie-sanders-wealth-tax.html One thing in common between the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and the United States? They all have billionaires. People are selfish creatures, inherently. Nobody invented the internet, production lines, or any modern invention to benefit humanity. They did so to make more money, so they could live more luxuriously and buy more things. Bernie Sanders wants to completely eliminate the profit incentive, thereby reducing innovation and technological progress. The United States is the world's largest filer of patents, and the leader of world research simply because it incentivizes people to do so. This issue is yet another example about how Mr. Sanders is farther left than even the European establishment. I'm not saying that being being a leftist is necessarily bad. However, Mr. Sanders' strongest argument is that other countries have already done what he proposes. If this no longer stands, it is perhaps time to re-evaluate his political ideology and its reasoning. In conclusion, I believe that there is such a thing as "too far left" and that Bernie Sanders and AOC have crossed that line. So even the big winner must find another party to get the votes if the party doesnt get 50% and even then the other parties have the role of opposition. This can also lead to situation where the party with the most seats will have to play oppositions if other parties can get a coalition with 50% of votes. The problem in the USA is that on district level the winner takes all so the 2 big parties are basically the only parties in parliament and for presidential elections the winner also takes everything and the president has extreme amounts of power.

Because the republicans are farther right than the centrist democrats are left, most right wingers are fairly comfortable in the Republican Party, while more center politicians tend to join the democrats, but left wing politicians also join the democrats because it’s the closest major party, creating the divide between the center and left wing factions of the Democratic Party)

it seems the Democrat Party is actually more Republican than Republicans
The ultimate problem with America's political structure? The two-party system.
The solution? Nationwide ranked-choice voting. Maine is already doing it.
Well Australia has ranked choice voting system but they have a very rigid 2 party system.

Source: www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2020/03/05/bernie-sanders-and-democratic-socialism
Secondly, he attempts to abolish private insurance. No democracy, not even his famed European paradise, has abolished private insurance. Making sure that everyone has affordable healthcare is one thing. Doing so at the expense of the fundamental freedom to choose is another. Why can't a person have private insurance if they want it? Adopt a voluntary system.
Thirdly, Bernie is literally anti-Trump.
Fanatical base leaning heavily on one group -Check.
Refuses to compromise or listen to those of opposing viewpoints - Check.
Stances that emphasize the idea of "the people" and pit this group against "the elite" (populism) - Check.
No wonder the Trump campaign was so worried about running against Bernie. They have the same strengths.
Thirdly, Bernie advocates open borders (decriminalized is de facto the same thing.)
Source: www.politico.com/news/2019/11/07/bernie-sanders-2020-immigration-plan-067204
This worked for America in 1900, when social safety nets were nonexistent.
Bernie wants to do just this, claiming "I don't think that billionaires should exist."
Source : www.nytimes.com/2019/09/24/us/politics/bernie-sanders-wealth-tax.html
One thing in common between the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and the United States?
I hope this essay has shed light on how Bernie's strongest appeal to the moderate and unsure voter, the appeal that others have done the same, is false.

I am currently volunteering for 2 progressive candidates running against moderate democrats in my state this November. I hope AOC will be President some day.
It's very strange that people would assume that being from the same party people have to think the same.... If all people think the same, there is no challenging ideas and no evolution.
_I would never marinate a congresswoman_- *Toast 2020*

I can't believe I'm making this comment on AJ+. I'm going to get so much flak for this, but I don't really care at this point.
My opinion: Bernie and AOC are too far left. First of all, Bernie calls his movement democratic socialism, not social democracy. I don't trust anybody to implement an ideology that they can't even name properly.
Bernie wants to do just this, claiming "I don't think that billionaires should exist."
Source : www.nytimes.com/2019/09/24/us/politics/bernie-sanders-wealth-tax.html
One thing in common between the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and the United States?
I hope this essay has shed light on how Bernie's strongest appeal to the moderate and unsure voter, the appeal that others have done the same, is false.
Social democracy does allow private insurance. Democratic socialism doesn't.
Thank you! I feel the same. I liked Warren better.
@@luisguimaraes5682 And how does that disprove my point?
@@avaq2588 Me too. Regardless of how you want America to change, this partisanship will stop anything from getting done. If Bernie pulls out of NATO, he could do more damage than 4 years of Trump.
Being from a Latin American country that is trying to defeat socialism and their corrupt leaders, I Can assure you there is such a thing as too far left.
Look at Venezuela for example. Socialism destroyed their economy. I
If you want to see the true destruction socialism has, just look at Latin America.
I myself am not a truly supporter at all, but I'm not sure I can get behind the left side in this presidential debacle. (Not that I should since I am international).
I just wanted to say I completely agree, actually I KNOW that there is such a thing as "Too Left"
It's almost as if... politics shouldn't be divided to two parties living in their own echo chambers.
"the goal of socialism is communism"
-vladimir lenin
god I hope I won't regret supporting aoc I don't like commies. but then again, I think she's a social democrat, not a democratic socialist.
she's basically representing the nordic way of handling domestic affairs(the Scandinavian countries are a nice example to look up to) so there's that.
Johnny Sins, she wants to take away the power from businesses and give it to the government. I don't know about you but that sounds something a socialist would say.
@@ludsec name a policy from her that says that
@@andre.moonlight she talked about it during an interview
Yeah but that was a Lenin who wanted socialism not Democratic Socialism. In the USA it is considered radical if we cover Healthcare and college witch in other developed democratic countries even the right wing parties embrace those “Commie” ideas.
I think it would be a nice idea if we added progressives as its own party!
Goes to comment section grabs popcorn
Two-thirds of the Democrats wanted to hear AOC speak, instead they gave her a majority of the speaking time to a Republican John Kasich governor of Ohio. The Democratic establishment is and always has been a lighter shade of Republican
@@johnmiltonkeynes take away the Democratic label next to Joe biden's name and look at all the legislation that he's done over the past 50 years. would you be able to tell the difference between Democrat and Republican?
I think part of the issue is that a lot of the voters they have to appease are moderate-conservative, and if you nominate a very progressive candidate, it becomes very easy for the other side to spin them as the “radical socialists” that lots of people seem to fear.
your background music sounds like a ring tone, you should change that.
Ideally, there shouldn't be a party at all, makes everyone think before they vote.
I find it funny that the democratic party would be a more rigth wing version of the Norwegian hoyre(rigth wing) party.
Very true and important .
I’ve never understood like funding for campaigns, my country’s president had a scandal because he took corporate funding for his election
Which country bro
“Young people supports the Democrats”
Me: Hell yeah zoomers stand up
“Bring up the millennials”
Me: “for crying Out loud millennials are not young people anymore”
True milleilals are old now but Zoomers are barely able to vote. So no one cares about them yet
Yup young people vote Democrat until they have to work and pay taxes.
I'm a Zoomer and yet I support the Republican.
Because I choose to work and have to pay tax rather than going to college, taking student loan and asking for it to be cancelled.
Even when the time I choose to take college, I won't take those loans except if I have a plan and capability to pay it in the future without asking other people to pay for it.
*I'm open for a debate if someone is willing to
@@faldovifendi6878 Yeah I did that too when I younger and did all the same things. Eventually, you'll have a family and have to keep a roof over your head. I became a progressive in my late 30's. I doubt you'll even make it that far as a conservative the way things are now.
Vote for the best 3rd party in existence: Kanye's Birthday Party
I just hope AOC and her friends are being protected.
Fact check: Although FDR’s programs did improve the American economy slightly, it is widely accepted by historians that the American involvement in WWII was the driving force out of the Great Depression
Well yes, because the war allowed FDR to unify the government and allow him to use more and more money to build factories for equipment for the war effort that were usable after the war in creating consumer goods. But America’s success with this and WW2 was also largely because of FDR’s economic policies before WW2.
Literally agreed with everything said in this video
I'm thinking there should be a 6 party system: Socialist Democrats, Progressive Democrats, Centrist Democrats, Centrist Republicans, Conservative Republicans, and Capitalist Republicans.
The leadership of the Democratic party want to keep doing what they've always done because it has worked well for them. They are wealthy and powerful.

All I gotta say is once Millennials and Gen Z come into power this party is changing A LOT towards progressivism!
Baby Boomers will have already destroyed the planet by then
Isn't it possible for the US to create a new party so people can vote only for them? For example in my country we don't have just two parties to vote. There's a radical right one, a right one, a middle right one, a middle left one, and a left one. And all of them have seats in the congress or senate
If AOC were the nominee I would support the republicans. I’m a conservative but I hate the current Republican Party
ugh can we just have a revolution

I do appreciate how Biden has in many ways opened up to and embrace progressive ideas. I just hope he will be able to pass them.
Who would expect a 2-party country to have division within the 2 parties? I'm completely surprised. Wow.

They are both insane.
Love AOC from India.
Which Indian party do you support
@@empireepic92 BJP

because two parties are not enough to represent the diversity and complexity of beliefs and values of 330 million people
i'm a democrat but the day a radical like AOC or someone who wants to defund the police takes over i'm switching sides
i think a anti-trump party with no nominee would do as well as biden.
Who else came here because they saw AOC playing among us with toast, Valkyrae, Pokimane ETC...?
AOC for president! 🙌🏼
no
The craziest thing about the two parties in the US is that there is more difference within the parties than there is between them. The Democratic establishment is closer to the Republican establishment than it is to AOC, and the same is true in reverse for Trump. In a sane political system, each would be part of a separate party.
Oh and we would actually have a real far left party. Even the AOC/Bernie/Warren party would be center left at most.

Well presented. I learned a lot of new things.
In my country (Slovakia) we vote for dozens of parties and none of them is popular for longer than couple terms. When people disagree they simply make their own party and when they create momentum they can become very popular. We have currently 7 of them in our parliament, 4 of them created government coalition. I think it works like that in most of the eastern/central europe. Dunno why
The good thing about it is they don't have to fake a united front.
Honestly, this is how it should be. We have to hold our presidents accountable.
That end line that she said is something people need to do more. As a person with more democratic views leaning towards AOC views pretty much it dosnt matter what side of politics your on if you don’t make them accountable for what they do your part of the problem why America is so divided we have to make these people accountable for what they do.
Tbh I think the Republican part is more split up
Get more than two parties in the country. Problem solved.
Not happening unless First Past The Post voting is replaced for something else. Until then, we'll just have to put up with two parties.
Three words: RANKED CHOICE VOTING.
