Daisuke is such a genius, I don't know Zato's full story other than he blinded himself and got his shadow powers but he clearly went through some rough shit and I'm sad now.

Actually considering the existential crisis Eddie went through in xx trying to figure out what parts of his memory and identity were his and not shared with Zato-1 it's possible they both love Millia. So it could be Eddie and Zato-1 singing to Millia.

-Millia gets adopted into the Assassin's Guild when Zato's in charge and the two eventually became very unsteady lovers
-Zato turns the guild into a bunch of killers for hire (when before they specifically targeted people who they thought deserved it) and Millia was already not really on board with being a professional killer but now she's REALLY not on board
-Zato gets more obsessive over Millia and Millia finally backstabs him when she sees an out and flees the Guild while Zato gets arrested and put in prison
-Zato LOSES HIS SHIT and becomes a full-on yandere over Millia
-The first game happens, Zato gets killed by Eddie, who hijacks his body
-Millia still has some feelings for Zato and decides to kill Eddie and put Zato's corpse out of his misery, and eventually succeeds
-Zato comes back to life in Xrd but he's an emotionless husk with no sense of self-worth except that he remembers that he really loved Millia for some reason and that becomes his sole reason for living. He also turns over a new leaf now that he can look back on all the shitty things he did in the past with a clear head.
-Zato's theme song implies he wants his emotions back so he remember WHY he was in love with Millia even if it means risking going back to his old ways.
-Also Venom is there

Sad part is, this part of the song will never be heard in an actual match. It's nearly at the VERY END of an actual match time. Max match time is 4:57. This part starts at 4:40... SO even if you get there, you can't hear the full thing. Pain.

As a guy who doesn't know nothing about the game and characters, this made me tear up in the most saddest way possible.
he actually already dead and he is revived by eddie now he cant feel emotion its why he want to live in the past

His shadow happened to be a parasite, that took over him.
He litteraly fucking died
He was revived
Can't feel anything
Feel attraction to girl he was with, like, every game before the one where she killed him, after that he was dead until he was revived.

Edit: After many listens. I do really like the whole song and it's one of my favorites from the track. It's just a acquired taste. The song isn't worse off for being less like the end but it would be nice regardless.
@Norman Never said that the whole song should be just this part. Just that there should be more elements of it. When it comes to the song itself, the beginning, end and chorus with vanish into dark are fine. The rest I don't feel flows that well.
