Mountain Biking at Hogan Lake 4-16-16 - Mountain Venture

I enjoy diversity in keeping fit. Today I rode a local trail at Hogan Lake. Rolling terrain through sage and scotch broom. Thankfully too early in the season for ticks! Great morning!

This is the land of a thousand names, Hogan Lake, Hogan, New Hogan Reservoir, Area 51, Coyote Point. Any recommended routes? Looks like on Strava it's all out and back.

+BK-XC While the trail is essentially out and back, there are deviations along the way that are marked with a blue square (intermediate) and a black diamond (advanced). In my opinion, the advanced trail is rated as such because of the climbs and not necessarily the technical descents. All climbs are short and rocky with sharp switchbacks at times. When I raced, I would use this trail system primarily for interval training due to the short technical climbs followed by a short period of recovery. In the summer, this place gets HOT and is full of ticks so plan accordingly.
