I don't have either of these conditions, but I am familiar with neurodiverse people in both my family and friends. I discovered your channel today and would just like to say I found it informative and enjoyed your interview style. These stories are vital to understanding others in our communities, whether in family, friends, workplaces or education settings. Thank you for what you and your guests do to help spread this understanding and remove stigma surrounding mental health. Subscribed.
As a chef and Heston being one of my all time heroes, I can relate 100% my wife was and is still a key to me still being here, being with me and identifying when Im about to crash, I salute you Chef, we met in 2011 when I was a trainee chef, one of the most humble and down to earth people I have ever met
everything heston says i feel like im partly going through the same thing and im realising i need to get professional help. i might not have same issues or i could but i know something isnt right and im so proud of heston because he has no idea how much people like me need to hear this to wake up and seek help and support
I loved watching you two celebrating yourselves and giggling like cheeky boys at times. One of the most important realisations in my life was that I don't have to take myself too seriously. You both mastered this too. As a chef, I've found some interesting similarities in the way Heston deals with some issues. I am very grateful for this conversation as it encourages me to trust my intuition more! Thank you both! Greetings from Austria 👋
Wow, what a great video. Big respect to Heston for being open and honest about his challenges with his mental health. As someone who also has ADHD, I can completely understand some of the difficulties he faces on a daily basis.
Wow, where do I start ! Beauty, powerful, genius, creative, pure, honest are some words that come to mind. Literally have tears in my eyes, as someone who’s neurodiverse. More importantly, has a son who’s also got ADHD (no surprise there then) and is looking to start a career in the same industry. How great would it be to have Heston, once better and if he is happy and truely supported to do so, championing neurodiversity in the industry. There’s hope. Thanks both, I’m proud of you too !
Loved this. In the same industry and indirectly know Heston through contacts. Just diagnosed with the same, albeit, has been very obvious for a long time. Great channel mate, your interviewing technique was great.
Fantastic interview! I’ve always admired Heston, but hearing about his challenges has taken my respect for him to a whole new level. I hadn’t heard of this podcast before, but you’ve just gained a new subscriber!
Very interesting interview! Really glad Heston opened up about this, its really cool of him. Respect him immensely, and would LOVE to dine at the Fat Duck. I wish. Keep going Heston!💙💙💙⭐️⭐️⭐️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I have ADHD, unofficially but score 64 out of 73 on a recognised ADHD test. I don’t think I have Bipolar but I am going through menopause which can cause similar symptoms with emotional disturbances etc. If I want help with my ADHD I require an official diagnosis but I can’t cope with the stress that this could bring due to my menopause impacting my stress, mood, irritability etc. There is next to no extra help for women like me who have spent years unknowingly masking ADHD that was written off as being ‘ditsy’ forgetting, daydreaming, being lazy, awkward and difficult. Women like me should be able to get fast tracked to get help as part of their menopause treatment. Your masking ability drops, your mental health plummets, you honestly feel like you’re going mad in a world where people can’t figure out what you’re telling them. I would love to see a coming together of Heston with someone like Davina McCall to talk about both ADHD and Menopause along with bipolar etc as together I think they could highlight where changes need to be made for people with multiple conditions. I also think that it would be in the interests of this channel to host it as it would bring it to more peoples attention. I have only just discovered it and wish I would have found it sooner.
Heston has always been a total Food Hero of mine since his first ever TV Platform, and to be totally honest because Heston has really not been at the forefront of televised cookery programs on British TV for some time now, I have totally lost the flow of what's been going on in Heston's life, and I am sorry for that. It was only because I stumbled upon a clip on online media of 2 guys tasting some new dishes Heston had created i.e. Hot & Cold Tea - Crab & Big Mac Ice-cream cornets and Taste of the Sea dishes. While watching this I noticed that Heston was not the man I knew and watched on TV years before. And to be honest my first thought was that Heston had suffered a stroke, and l tared up because I was shocked because of his demeanour, and slow reactions. Bless you Heston x
This is the first video that I have watched on your channel, you are a wonderful interviewer. Subscribed and look forward to watching your previous videos 😊❤
Great talk! I got so much out of this... I have Bipolar, ADHD and autistic traits & can completely empathise with Heston & his journey... I just want to show my appreciation for this video & I'm grateful to have just stumbled upon (or was that because of AI algorithms 🤪) such an insightful discussion. Please pass on my well wishes to Heston & would love to talk with him at some point - I have my own vlog/podcast I'm trying to keep up. Peace - Love - Light Namaste and ahimsa brothers and sisters 😊☮️❤️💯🌱🫂
Working long hours and not balancing your life with time for family, time for friends, time for leasure and most importantly time for sleep, will evidently effect your physical and mental health. I've seen stress kill many men, it's slow but it rots away from the inside and comes out after 10/20/30 years.
I love Heston he's one of the reasons I become a chef the mad thing is we now share the same mental health disorders I wonder if that is why I was drawn to him feeling the similarities I'm now being tested for bipolar only found out free months ago these two things live side by side
Wouldn't wish this in anyone. It wastes your life. The lows are horrendous, last between 8 months and a year. Not wanting to be here. Then the highs. They last 3 to 4 months. Hyper crazy. The brain just doesn't level. Can't hold down a single job.
My guess: He's named after Charlton Heston, the popular movie actor who starred in block busters like Ben Hur, Touch of Evil, The Ten Commandments, El Cid, The Greatest Story Ever Told and many more films in the years just before your guest was born. FYI -- By the early 2000s, Charlton Hestin (who died in 2008) was more well-known in the US as a strong supporter of so-called 'traditional values,' conservative politicians and the rights of gun owners. That may explain why he downplays it now, with the joke about the petrol station. Just a guess 🤷🏻♀️
He is so medicated poor guy, olanzapine or quitiapine, can tell by the voice and weight gain. Even though they help he really needs to try and cut them down or ideally come off them, he is heading for 25+ stone and narcalepsy. Poor guy
You aren't his doctor. I also take Quetiapine and whilst you may be right, often we will take some weight gain and struggling to get the right words over the intense awful instability that we had before.
cool dude. He and his doctors think he has bipolar though, so that's probably what he has. Maybe also shut the fuck up about what you think about a stranger's diagnosis is when he's actively telling you what it is for 30 minutes. Truly no one asked for your uninformed and unimportant opinion.
adhd, bipolar all need the heavy metal detox smoothie, and anti oxidants as these are driving the issues, not some faulty brain, they are more gut microbiome and liver issues
It is with ease while you do it iv been a London based chef for close to two decades 90 hour weeks feel like a short week. It becomes normal and we adapt
Great you adapted he on the other hand has created bipolar which now needs a big effort nutritional wise to reverse and get well, but sadly he has been told he needs to take meds for life as he has a faulty brain, that’s bull Shite
Very insightful and informative. Thanks for putting this together. I am moved by Heston’s courage in speaking about Bipolar and ADHD.

Great interviewer so subtle with steering the conversation, sharp questions, obviously listens intently. Very good work 👏🏻

What a great Interview! Thank you both very much!
Thanks for such a great talk
This was an incredible interview.

I had no idea. I hope you’re feeling well and strong mate.
You both are beautiful humans!
i'd be interested to know how he got his diagnosis? I was born with dyslexia, but i am certain there's more to it...
Ooo wierd. I am obsessed with water and vibration (and subparticle physics) too. Maybe we are just more in tune with the frequencies around us?
Wouldn't wish this in anyone. It wastes your life. The lows are horrendous, last between 8 months and a year. Not wanting to be here. Then the highs. They last 3 to 4 months. Hyper crazy.

There’s madness in genius.

When did this interview take place?
A few weeks ago 🙌
26:50 I wonder what she said his name meant in Greek.
It means sh*t with an 'a' where the asterisk is. When movies starring Charlton Heston played in Greece he was referred to as Charlton Easton.
Erm yeah, thats what mania is? Needing little sleep, being able to do a lot, and then crashing
God love him it must be terrifying. ❤
One has to be mad to work in a kitchen
He is so medicated poor guy, olanzapine or quitiapine, can tell by the voice and weight gain.
Even though they help he really needs to try and cut them down or ideally come off them, he is heading for 25+ stone and narcalepsy. Poor guy

❤
the meds have made him obese and slurring his words, keto diet will reverse bipolar. give me strength
12:00
30:35
I don't think he talked much about bipolar.
Go to polar warriors!
BPD?
Shouldn't say "be" but "have"
I have bipolar I
But, every onion is different.
bipolar is reversible, oh yes, i will come and chat how to do this
I really don't think he has bi polar but early signs of schizophrenia. My mother had this type behaviour before she was sectioned in early 2000's.
cool dude. He and his doctors think he has bipolar though, so that's probably what he has. Maybe also shut the fuck up about what you think about a stranger's diagnosis is when he's actively telling you what it is for 30 minutes. Truly no one asked for your uninformed and unimportant opinion.
adhd, bipolar all need the heavy metal detox smoothie, and anti oxidants as these are driving the issues, not some faulty brain, they are more gut microbiome and liver issues
he worked 120 jours a week and got by on 20 hours sleep a week, but he has bipolar? i call BS, he has been gaslighted into a story.
And you would be wrong I know chefs who worker for him he did 120 hours with ease
Not with ease, this is what made him unwell, rest is important. He niw needs to get super healthy and overcome this illness.
It is with ease while you do it iv been a London based chef for close to two decades 90 hour weeks feel like a short week. It becomes normal and we adapt
