The Myths About Living With Dyspraxia
This was a great podcast to stumble onto, one thing that would really help though would be to put a amazon link to their book in the description, I needed to flip back and forth after watching to find the name of the book so I would buy it.
Oh wow, im not alone. Ive always been told I was negative and to just be quite. I totally understand this
I just want to be able to get a job and keep it and not struggle with it or want to kill myself because of it
It's so weird, because it just makes me "normal" and in the UK it's sooo hard to get legally atm. I have to call 30+ pharmacies
Girl i was an alcoholic too and i get mean. My sweet dad was the same. He took his life last saturday and i havent accepted yet. But ik all about the depression, self hatred, stemming(i twirl my hair since i was 4 actually and rip it out) ummm they jus help me so much. We have so much in common. I love u guys so much. I DONT drink jus smokr green.
Do you have tendered/contracted prison operators in the UK? If the answer to that is yes, then you also have the answer to who benefits by not diagnosing and treating people.
Beautiful interview with another amazing Neurospicy game changer! 💞♾️💞
I’m a psychotherapist. I also work as an addiction therapist privately as well as in rehabs and treatment centres. I spent years in active addiction and served time in prisons. I got diagnosed with acute anxiety and ADD at 53 years of age. It explained a lot. I make up from what I see is that 50% of persons with the 'Illness of Addiction' also suffer with ADD or ADHD. It’s interesting because, to me, it’s clearly obvious that 'The illness of Addiction' is a completely separate diagnosis from ADHD. They appear similar, but are not the same. I can believe that 80% of prisoners have ADHD. It makes complete sense. I hope this is listened to by the right people. Great pod guys.
I wish my partner has this kind of interest to know my AuDHD. It’s complicated, and most of the complication isn’t about me, but it’s still hard. I appreciate seeing you both fighting for accommodating each other, going toward your strengths, and honoring your challenges.
Thank you for explaining this for everyone else
I have ADHD, unofficially but score 64 out of 73 on a recognised ADHD test. I don’t think I have Bipolar but I am going through menopause which can cause similar symptoms with emotional disturbances etc. If I want help with my ADHD I require an official diagnosis but I can’t cope with the stress that this could bring due to my menopause impacting my stress, mood, irritability etc. There is next to no extra help for women like me who have spent years unknowingly masking ADHD that was written off as being ‘ditsy’ forgetting, daydreaming, being lazy, awkward and difficult. Women like me should be able to get fast tracked to get help as part of their menopause treatment. Your masking ability drops, your mental health plummets, you honestly feel like you’re going mad in a world where people can’t figure out what you’re telling them. I would love to see a coming together of Heston with someone like Davina McCall to talk about both ADHD and Menopause along with bipolar etc as together I think they could highlight where changes need to be made for people with multiple conditions. I also think that it would be in the interests of this channel to host it as it would bring it to more peoples attention. I have only just discovered it and wish I would have found it sooner.
I am not surprised....kinda thought something was really amiss years ago.
Wow, what a great video. Big respect to Heston for being open and honest about his challenges with his mental health. As someone who also has ADHD, I can completely understand some of the difficulties he faces on a daily basis.
This was an incredible interview.
I relate so much with her!!!
Well... That's him Fucked..
Thank you
Is the lady free for a date 😍
I heard that 20000 thing echoed all over, but never a source. Is this a real thing? Where is it from?
I have ADHD, I am very insulted by this, my parents were not undiagnosed with it and did not have addiction problems. I hope the next time you go for a shit that it's a hedgehog and comes out backwards!
Did you go to jail?
Does this apply to ADD as well..? 😢
ADD and ADHD are not considered to be the same illness. (At leats in the US) It's now all under the term of ADHD but it's differentiated by type. ADD would most likely be the intensive type. So, yes. It also applies to ADD.
@zessonateacloud They told me ADD is like ADHD but without the hyperactivity (H). But I don't know. I do recognize myself in what she is saying though.
@@linuskarlsson9449 Essentially it's the same. But I think it depends on the country if they call it the same or two different things. ADHD things should totally apply to you. Some of course morw than others but that's normal for every illness. I was also diagnosed with ADD over twenty years ago and I normally tell everyone I have ADHD because that's what people know. (Also I'm not sure if my country conderes them the same so that's a bit confusing)
@zessonateacloud Thank you for your respons 🙏❤️
I had no idea. I hope you’re feeling well and strong mate.
This is the first video that I have watched on your channel, you are a wonderful interviewer. Subscribed and look forward to watching your previous videos 😊❤
He’s not slurring his words. The meds have slowed his brain down, they do that. Play back at 1.5… there is no slurring
It is not just a simple fact, but one that is true from many different perspectives. Here, lives are being trampled on and lied to from top to bottom. Here, human rights are being violated from start to finish. This makes people afraid and a friend of mine was tortured with electricity in a psychiatric hospital in my country after the Second World War... As a friend, you have to process something like that yourself when you are told something like that. I have many friends with FASD and, because I had to deal with it, I have a lot of experience in the legal system, inevitably. Those at the top, if they carry on like this, they've got a real screw loose. It will backfire, like in Gaza, Save, the children there were just fed up with the oppression and groups like that harmonize with each other through drug use, which also causes unrest in the normal population. So, if they don't become fairer now, it will really be uncomfortable for all of us on the whole planet. It all contributes directly to the balance, whether anyone wants to believe it or not.
I am researching these effects directly... My depression is getting worse and I immediately had to fight back tears. I can feel it and imagine it very, very well. I also have stories to tell to rightly criticize the authorities. I fully support such statements, it is a worldwide problem. I know people here who were tortured with electricity! Here in Germany! Hier in Deutschland!
I have no idea why this video has not gotten the views like other guests. Such a good episode, and what an articulate lady. Loved it. Thankyou
I hate that this clip starts out with the outdated idea that ADHDers get into trouble because we're so impulsive and don't think of consequences. Whereas the second problem that she talks about is much more pervasive AND something that allows and requires action from outside. People with ADHD are not getting the help and support and tools that help us to succeed. Because we're only just now figuring all of that out. Because many of us were either not diagnosed until later in life (because the formal descriptions written by neurotypicals based on their interpretations of what it looks like on the outside are so different from what it feels like on the inside) or are raised with a completely inaccurate and unhelpful self image and coping mechanisms (again because we got handed tools and explanations from a neurotypical perspective that actually don't match our own needs and talents). So if we or our parents don't figure it out, we either implode (often invisibly, because nobody cares if it's just us) or we explode (and then we get blamed for everything and put in jail). Or, like most of us, we just quietly struggle through life. Invisible in the statistics, both in our successes or our failures. ADHD kids need help, need insight, community, and tools that fellow ADHDers have tried and tested and found to work. Not advice from neurotypical people that doesn't work for us, and then judgement if it doesn't work for us. So that the men end up isolated or in jail, and the women end up ill or in abusive relationships. There are systemic problems with diversity, that is the problem. Those systemic problems result in maladjusted traumatised adults who have tried a million times and still get blamed for everything. Who get the message: you can't do anything right, so why aren't you doing anything right. That is the problem. Not us ADHDers being impulsive or not thinking of consequences. Plenty of us are not criminals, are not in jail. And even we are struggling every day. But we struggle a lot less on the right medications (which are almost impossible to get because neurotypical people seek them out as recreational drugs), with the right tools (which can still only be found in community spaces), and with the right people. And especially that latter category is still exhaustingly difficult to find. The category of people who look at systemic problems and don't blame the marginalised people but want to change the systems instead.
Juicing celery, the heavy metal detox smoothie, soups, salads, fruits, veg, herbal teas, real honey, real maple, mejool dates, mushrooms, fresh herbs, spice, roots, these are healing and cleansing, eggs, dairy, grains, sugar, pork, coffee, alcohol, fizzy drinks are all not healthy, grow in health and heal the gut.
They them demand we call them what they them want to be called. Then they turn around and impose CIS on us. There is and never has been a CIS human being.
Great interviewer so subtle with steering the conversation, sharp questions, obviously listens intently. Very good work 👏🏻
He looks dreadful 😞
What a great Interview! Thank you both very much!
bipolar is reversible, oh yes, i will come and chat how to do this
adhd, bipolar all need the heavy metal detox smoothie, and anti oxidants as these are driving the issues, not some faulty brain, they are more gut microbiome and liver issues
the meds have made him obese and slurring his words, keto diet will reverse bipolar. give me strength
he worked 120 jours a week and got by on 20 hours sleep a week, but he has bipolar? i call BS, he has been gaslighted into a story.
And you would be wrong I know chefs who worker for him he did 120 hours with ease
Not with ease, this is what made him unwell, rest is important. He niw needs to get super healthy and overcome this illness.
It is with ease while you do it iv been a London based chef for close to two decades 90 hour weeks feel like a short week. It becomes normal and we adapt
Great you adapted he on the other hand has created bipolar which now needs a big effort nutritional wise to reverse and get well, but sadly he has been told he needs to take meds for life as he has a faulty brain, that’s bull Shite
@@stephenmacey8313 he got sick didnt he
Yes!
Me too, it causes me so much anxiety
it should be easy, really - more people need to be trained in diagnosing and supporting us, loads more job opportunities opening up for them, i'm confused... perhaps some day we will realize we are not so much of a minority at all, and the whole society will shift and adapt. i'm convinced even NTs would be better off... but hey, i know this isn't where the world is currently headed at all, it's becoming more of the nightmare for every living creature on this planet for the greed of a few, and weaponized fear and all. sorry this got real dark real quick.
One has to be mad to work in a kitchen
.....this is incredibly insulting. We consider places where people with a disability getting in trouble at high rates a failure on the environment and those in authority, not the people themselves.
I agree with you so much. Thank you for speaking up.
God love him it must be terrifying. ❤
Agree, people need to learn to communicate respectfully with ASD, neuro spicy peeps..❤😊 I love their direct honesty. It's often so accurate and humerous for me, I accept it, never get offened, and we can share a good chuckle. 😂😅
If i hear that fraze, im dumping and walking out...😂😂😂😂😂
My God. That is some wife material right there. Cute and she can cook spaghetti. (Im a simple man.)
I am watching this because my daughter has just been diagnosed with ASD. I always thought I have undiagnosed Dyslexia, but now I am realising I might have ADD.
2:20 why would you address a negative comment when there's so many positive ones?
They also have great senses of humor don't forget that part!
This is in the UK, but definitely applies to the USA and other countries. People with ADHD and Autism are still being imprisoned and killed due to negligence of care. This is terrifying and heartbreaking. So many crimes could be avoided and lives saved with proper diagnosis and treatment including therapy and making our world more accessible, educated, and inclusive. This just breaks my heart. It terrifies me more than anything. It definitely enrages me. #ADHD #audhd #actuallyautistic @austistic_af @thomashenley @twylascouch @orionkelley @paigelayle @momonthespectrum @woodshedtheory @adultwithautism
