Singer DVD Video on how to thread their 4 thread sergers. This includes the Singer Heavy Duty Serger.
I posted this to help those of you who've bought a Singer Serger and for some reason can't play the DVD included. Hopefully, this will get you started.
Thank you. Last week my serger jumped and the thread tangled and broke while I was sewing. I panicked as the machine was threaded when I bought it and I had never threaded it myself. this video was superb! First time. Threaded correctly. Appreciated.
You're welcome!
@@kevinsews I have the heavy duty Singer serger and I can't get the blade to disengage and turn. Any suggestions?
@@susanconniry9247 I haven't even seen this. Other than making sure it is turned all the way in to engage it I can't suggest anything.
I know this video is like 7 years old but THANK YOU for this! So helpful :)
You're welcome!
I had completely forgotten this, til someone commented & it came up in my feed. Been using a server for YEARS... this is great stuff!!!! That info on the bottom lower looper ALONE will change your life! Tricky stuff... If you don't know the "trick". AWESOME
You’re welcome!
I've owned the Singer ProFinish serger for more than 8 years and always thread it while watching your video. Thank you for this tutorial.
You're welcome! I am glad to hear it has been helpful for you.
I know this is eleven years old, but thank goodness you made it! I was in despair with my new overlocker that I could not work out how to thread, you have no idea how grateful I am! Thanks for all the details and showing us exactly what to do, I watched it and followed you and IT WORKED! Fantastic, I have always wanted an overlocker and now I can actually use it. It took me all afternoon but now I understand it which no other video showed. Best wishes and much gratitude from me in Australia 🙂
You're welcome!
This video saved me! You have no idea! I spent 3 hours trying to read and understand the crazy manual my serger came with. Finally decided to look on RUclips and i got it fixed in 5 min from this video... i wasted so much time... Thank you
Sandy Yang You’re welcome.
I was COVERED in thread...on the verge of crying!!..then I remembered that I could watch a video....OOMG!!!...you saved the day with this video!! no really darling....up till now I prayed to the sewing machine God, crossed my fingers and hoped it would work!...now I see its all science...with help from generous people like you here on RUclips...thank you!!!!
+stellahsgroove Glad it was helpful.
PERFECTLY you explained how to do the lower looper !!! It was over whelming & seemed so complicated not knowing. No more worries if I need to re-thread. Thanks SO much!
I am glad to hear it was helpful.
This is THE BEST tutorial on threading a serger. Thank you for making it so easy.
You’re welcome!
My Singer HD serger is coming tomorrow and Im so excited about it!
Been watching this vid over and over so that I can familiarize with its
system before I can do the threading by myself!
Im just a beginner and had just finished my first dress project 3 days
ago and that I realize I really need to have a serger! Got my first sewing
machine (Singer Denim) a month ago and been learning sewing by myself
thru different sewing vloggers @RUclips! Thanks to them!
The more I sew with my singer machine the more I urge in getting a
Singer Quantum LOL! In my country it's only Singer which is available
and there's no digital unit yet! We're so backward or maybe there's a
few people who has interest in sewing! LOL
In my short time experience in sewing, any project is not complete
without a serger. Thank you for this video, it's very helpful! I'll watch
again until i get my new serger!
I am glad to hear it was helpful for you!
This video was so helpful for threading my serger. I have never used a serger before and was able to thread it CORRECTLY after watching this, pausing it at the different steps and going one thread at a time. Having the different color threads corresponding to the different locations was also very helpful. there is so much going on with the different threads that this made it easier to understand.
Glad it was helpful.
Borrowing this serger from my mother-in-law so I can decide if this is a good buy. She told me to practice threading it , I thought it'd be a snap at first but got stuck on the that lower looper! I had no clue about the notch I had to thread, and this even showed me why the order is this way, which helped me fix the first one when it came loose. Thank you for posting!
You're welcome!
This video is a lifesaver. I come back to it over and over again every time I forget how to thread my serger... Which is every time I have to rethreaf it lol....
That is exactly why I posted it Jenny. Thanks for letting me know.
Absolutely brilliant video on how to thread the serger/overlocker. Definitely loved the close up photography.
Best video on RUclips without a doubt!!! ❤
Thanks!
This was So helpful for me. I just bought this serger and I'm still new to sewing so, I truly appreciate the simplicity behind this video and how thorough you were in your descriptions! Thank you!
I am glad to hear it was helpful.
Ok, already wrote a comment, but I have more to say. Thank you SO much! I have been messing with my serger for 2 days and could not for the life of me get it to stop jamming. Well, thanks to your video I went super slow and deliberate and double checked every thread was in the right spot. FINALLY after 2 days I go it working again. Saved me a senseless $60 + charge to take it to the shop! Ok, off to sew! WOOHOO!
Glad it helped you out Jordan!
This video was great. Out of the box my new serger was threaded and my brocades we're saved!!! Thank you for taking the time to do this.
You’re welcome!
I have had my serger for many years and it works perfectly every time. However, yesterday I went to change the thread color and completely forgot how to position the thread on the upper and lower looper needles. I must have re-thread it 15 times and was so frustrated! This video helped me so much and now my serger is working beautifully again. Thank you, thank you very much!
I am glad to hear it was helpful to you.
Your tutorial just helped me thread my new serger after the lower looper just got cut for some reason. I almost cried and didn't think I'd be able to thread it myself. Thanks a mil!!!
Marie Claire Victoria Mabutas Sordan I am happy to hear that Marie. Actually, this video is included on a DVD with some of the Singer sergers. For some reason it isn't included on all of them, so that is why I decided to post it here.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I knew it could not be a complicated as the instructions from Singer for threading this machine. Now I don't fret when I must thread the Serger.. Your video is celestial sent..
Glad it was helpful.
Thumps thumps up,,short, clear , vivid explanation ,easy to follow ,had challenges with my own,,,frustrated but now,💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪 thank you!!
You’re welcome!
Thank you so much for being the greatest teacher, got to thread on my own for the very first time without anyone's help, 😊.
You’re welcome!
Thank you thank you thank you! I could not figure why I could not thread this. But thanks to this video , I can finally thread my machines lower looper!
You're welcome!
Hello beautiful ❤️🌹
So happy that this video showed me exactly what I needed to know to thread my serger after the lower looper thread broke. I am no longer afraid that I don’t know what I’m doing!
Great!
Thank you so much for this video! I finally got my
Singer Serger and I made it at 1st shot! The only
thing that was difficult for me was threading the last
needle which has the blue thread! I used a manual
threader since I really got a poor eye sight however,
it was still difficult even to insert the threader into
the needle hole! Anyway, I made it! Too scary at first!
LOL now I'm gonna try! Thank you again and I have
saved this vid in my playlist bcoz I know I will still
be needing it! God bless..
You're welcome!
This is the best video for threading. I couldnt get my machine to work until I saw this one. Thank You
My pleasure! I am glad to hear it was helpful.

Watched several videos to no avail…. Thank you so much…. You rock
My pleasure!
Marvellous tutorial. You even solved a problem I had with my Lewenstein 700de serger.
You said make sure the lower looperthread tail lays over the upper looper otherwise the threads will tangle.
Thank you so much, for my "own" tutorial failed to tell this.
Glad it was helpful.
I watch this almost everytime I have to thread my serger. Lol. So clear and helpful! Thanks!
I am glad to hear it is helpful for you.
I love your instruction on how to thread this serger. I watch it often because I forget how to thread the looper holes
Thank you!
Thank you it helped alot and not talking alot. Short precise and simple
You’re welcome.
What the hell?! Witch craft!!!! My serger has been screwing up for MONTHS!!!! I followed this so closely and its working perfectly!! 😢😢 thank you!!!!

Yes!!! Losing my mind threading my machine and this was so helpful!! Thank you!!
You're welcome!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 me too
Eeeh Kevin,,right on my serge as l speak but if l try to move the lower looper to be above the top looper, the lower looper's back where the slit is moves back more there by hiding the slit and became more difficult to slide the thread ,,😔, what's wrong with my loopers?
💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃💃 got it,,thanks lots Kevin!!!🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🤝🏻
Thanks so much , so clear and details instructions, I learned a lot, thanks for sharing 👍👍👍

Angela Braggs You're welcome Angela!
Thank you for your tutorial, it was so very, very helpful. Using your video I was able to successfully thread my machine. :)
You're welcome! I am glad it was helpful.
Thank you! With this I could put threads to my machine!
You're welcome!
Great video, I just bought my singer serger haven't even got it out of the box, but I know how to thread it already
You’re welcome!
This has been a life (sanity) saver! So clear and easy to follow. Thank you so much for this! 🎉
I am glad to hear it was useful to you.
Even this great video does not specify that the thread must pass to the LEFT of the tension discs. I could never get this serger to work correctly - until I took it to the shop. The repairman said I had threaded to the right of the tension disc. It should be threaded to the LEFT of the tension disc - I used a flashlight to see and confirm this. My serger works great now with threading to the LEFT of tension discs...hope this helps others avoid my frustrations.....
Yes, it is pretty sad the manufactures don't pay close attention to such details. Just like the put horizontally wound spools of thread on their vertical spool holders on a regular basis.
Actually he does say that.
Thank god because I can’t get mine to work right and couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong
Right now I'm having same problem, baught mine over a year now took it to the shop a couple of times and no good results 😢
I would just like to thank you sooooo very much gor this video. I got it like that! I couldn't seem to catch what I was going wrong when it came to threading.
Amilia Thomas You're very welcome Amilia! I am glad it was helpful.
I recent pulled my Singer serger out of storage only to find to my horror that the threads had all been cleared out. I followed the diagrams but couldn't figure out why my threads were getting tangled and caught on the machine. After watching this, oh man, no wonder my threads were getting tangled. The lower looper thread has to go over the upper looper thread! D'oh!
Very common mistake.
thank you! was very helpful and i was able to thread it successfully. before watching the video i spent hours trying to figure out how to make it work properly-_-
That is great to hear!
Great tutorial. It really helped me thread my machine properly.
That is good to hear.
did you have problem with tension.
Your video made it so clear. Thanks

very informative, I was able to thread my serger using this guide!
Great!
Thank you so much! I had no idea you had to take the yellow back and hook it on that long thin piece!!!
You're welcome!
Damn, the music is annoying but the video finally explains what was missing in the guide coming with the machine. Thanks!!!!!! Much love!
You're welcome!
Thank for posting this.I haven't been able to find on up until now.
My pleasure Barbara.
Thank you, it help so much.❤

I am glad it was helpful to you.
Thank you very much. Very good tutorial.
You're welcome!
My second thread won't side to the divet bit at the back of the looper, I've tried using tweezers and it won't slip down, how can I rectify this? Thanks x
See if my video here helps: ruclips.net/video/sRuCyxjNtoo/видео.html
So the left needle (blue) only goes under one hook thingy and then over the blue guide ?
Sorry... I don't understand your question.
Sorry didn’t mean to confuse… for the blue thread does that just go through the top tension disc, then down and directly over the slots in between the green and blue
Great video.... answered many questions!
Great!
Hi is it possible to use my overlocker without the knife ?
I don’t want to take the knife out !!
Just maybe pop it up like I do when I thread it ?
Thanks
Sure. I would place the fabric on the serger immediately after cutting it .
I am using the 3 thread mode and the needle thread keeps getting unthreaded! I have changed the needle, original Singer, using high quality thread and, still the problem remains! What could it be??
Put a new needle in first. After that make sure you are threading in the proper order. If none of this helps you may need to have it serviced.
Thank you so much, this video was so easy to understand, I was able to thread the machine correctly very quickly.
You're welcome!
Thank you Kevin
You're welcome!
Hello beautiful ❤️🌹
Awesome video! So clear and closeup, good job! Now let me see if I can get this serger to stop jamming!
Thank you!
Is it possible to use this with just two threads? Which tension discs would I use if I just wanted two threads??
Several of their sergers can, but not all of them. See their site for more info: www.singer.com/machines/serger
Than you very very much for this tutorial :) i had some where a mistake and the threads didnt worked well. now its solved :)
You're welcome!
Every time i mess up my serger i come back to this :)
I am glad it is helpful.
Thank you! Very useful tutorial.
I have another problem. Sometimes lower looper "grab" a thread from the B needle and sometimes it doesn't. It's very frustrating. Do you please have any advice?
You’re welcome!
My serger came with this exact video/DVD but I would rather come on youtube for this one every time I can't remember exactly how to thread it. lol
That is exactly why I uploaded it. :)
just managed to jam fabric/thread under foot can't get out. Any ideas. You think I should unscrew the foot?
By the way on a positive point , from your video on RUclips I thread the machine first time watching the step by step video.
Hum.... never had that one before. Cut the threads above the needle and then open the door and cut the looper thread. See if that helps.
How does One set up this Singer for a "single thread stitch"?
Read your manual. Most will not support this.
Brilliant.. Overlocker now threaded...!! Thank you
You're welcome!
I want to try this to see if it will work. I've had my serger for over two years and it's still in the box. Too intimidated by it.
+Rubylox Let me know if you need any help.
Thank you I will:-)
This really help me, thank you
You're welcome!
I really wish you had done some sample sewing at the end. I'd like to see the result of a 4 color setup in a serger. I have know idea where all 4 of those threads go. All the videos I find have 4 of the same color in the serger.
+Richard “Bruno” Bronosky This is the DVD that Singer included with a few of their sergers, so I have zero control over it.
Thank you. You have saved my sanity tonight.
