    Karina, this is such a lovely dress made out of gorgeous fabric. You look so beautiful in it, perfectly made. I enjoyed your video and found your descriptions and explanations easy to understand. I love the tie done in the black contrasting color and it worked just perfectly for the facing too. Very smart problem solving. One would never know or care that this is not the exact directions given in the pattern.

    Your videos are always so informative. I’d love to learn to do a bust adjustment on a wrap bodice. As an aside, I feel if companies use your extensive expertise to improve their patterns by acting as a tester, the least they can do is give you a stipend for fabric and notions.

      Thank you so much 😊. I do get paid by some brands for pattern testing and for others, no. Sometimes there’s a gift card to get patterns from the same brand... and yes I agree. It’s a skilled service that should have compensation. This is why I hand pick my projects and only commit when I really like the style.

    Thank you for this! I had been googling reviews for this pattern and yours showed up, so informative! I am planning to make it as a maternity dress and was also so surprised at how much fabric it consumes! So much for going through my stash, but I do love your idea of using another fabric. The black actually looked so good with your fabric choice! I am actually Brazilian and love your homage to your temporary home!

    Love this dress on you! I'm a big fan of wrap dresses, but yeah ... not so much on a windy day. I'd probably feel I had to wear a half slip ... but it is so pretty. Funny that they had both ties the same length 🙄🙄🙄 That pattern would make a darling, peplum type of wrap top, too. Thanks for sharing this, Karina ... what a lovely souvenir. 💚💚💚

    Hi Karina, in general when a back bodice has a straight seam, can you do it on the fold instead, ( only on a straight seam I mean, not shaped obviously) ?
    The dress is lovely, I think some patterned fabrics can take a solid colour, I think it gives it an extra wow factor x

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  2 года назад

      For sure you can cut on the fold if there is no shaping in the center.

  • @mikeboothe
    @mikeboothe 2 года назад

    Do you have the correct measurement for the bust on the 14-30 draft? The inch measurements on that draft is almost the same as the other one and the waist is a lot larger than the bust on that draft. I would like to make this dress though- so I’m hoping it was just a printing error and not something I will have to make adjustments on the pattern. -SusN

  • @vannahhall915
    @vannahhall915 4 года назад

    Can you serge fabric edges to stay stitch? It seems like I could save some time that way. What do you think?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  4 года назад +1

      I’d recommend against doing that. The serging in itself will stretch the fabric on the edge. Stay stitching is done within the seam allowance and close to where the sewing will de done on that area.

  • @Hide_and_silk
    @Hide_and_silk 4 года назад +3

    Beautiful dress but I really dislike it when pattern companies split the sizing over two cups. Sew over it are the same. The assumption that only larger sizes ladies need above a B cup is so wrong.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  4 года назад +2

      I can list so many brands doing this now that they are doing a wider size range..... it's like it's become the "norm" somehow. However, there are the golden pattern brands that do individual cup sizes and that is more helpful.

    • @Hide_and_silk
      @Hide_and_silk 4 года назад

      @@LiftingPinsandNeedles Agreed. I will always for brands like Itch to Stitch in preference. If I'm going to have to make a lot of adjustments it has to be a really unique pattern. Xx
