Jim's Collection - 60 years of Diecast Cars and Trucks - Part I

- Meet my neighbor, Jim. He is a man just like me, only he was born 60 years earlier and lived a life full of experiences not many are still around to tell about, let alone with a mind just as sharp as it was when he entered the Second World War in 1945 as a young man. Jim and I live across the street from one another, and have for many years. In all this time and through our friendship it has been one of my greatest desires to film him with his immense collection of vintage diecast toys, most of which he collected decades ago and lovingly displays in his basement, just as I do. Jim is a wonderful man, with a heart bigger then an elephants, and full of memories and stories that could fill thousands of pages in a fine print book. Jim is 91 years old, lives on his own, has outlived the only two women he has ever loved in his life, and drives his Buick daily to visit his many close children. If you like this video, please, leave a personal message for Jim, as I will be sharing them with him, although presently he is not very familiar with the internet, let alone RUclips. He does look forward to the messages that I have told him he will receive from around the world from my many, wonderful, like-minded viewers, so let's make that come true! Thank you all.

Just finding this video. This is an amazing collection. Jim sounds like a amazing man, and I have so much respect for him. He is from a very tough generation and I hope Jim is still around and collecting.
this older gentleman is beautiful history of collecting god bless him simply fantastic long live you bud............... so so much history I got to the point in this video where I went from liking his collection to loving him and his stories you are extremely lucking to have a neighbor like him cherish this older brother bro because people like him are a dying breed .
Older video, new collector. USA based, 44 years old with a 4 year old son. I love old VW's so Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche is what I force my son to collect, haha. I love how you just want to touch each one, get good shots of them, etc... and yet you're semi-restrained and very respectful.
Jim .. you are a legend ❤❤
I love RUclips for things like this, we woldn't know it existed

Thank you for not only showing the collection but for letting Mr Jim tell his story. Great job and let him know how much we love this!!
Wish I had a neighbor like that. Awesome die cast with great life stories to tell! I hope to be as half as sharp as he is if I make it to 91! Welcome to the internet and RUclips Jim, thank you for sharing!
He's 95...
What a collection!
I would of been really nervous touching some of those pieces due to there age and rarity. Jim has a incredible collection. Not only do I want to thank him for his service but I want to thank him for allowing us to view his amazing collection.
+John Byrd It was truly a privilege to explore his collection hands on. Jim and I discussed the video at parameters beforehand, and he did warm up to the experience as the interview continues (in total it was 4 hours, but I have edited it down to 30 minutes or so, which I will release on RUclips weekly for the next month.
Thanks to Jim doing his part to save the world ! Without these brave soldiers prevailing in WW2....who knows how different the world would have turned out. Freedom is priceless!!! Great collection ! Thanks for sharing.
I hope this wonderful gentleman is still alive. He's so alert and a very elegant gent. Most people with these collections are extremely picky, but his collection looks a little haphazard, and he allows the interviewer to really paw his stuff.
What a fascinating guy. Wow.
Outragest collection , Thanks for the video , Mike
Amazing collection of an amazing man, I thank you deeply Jim, you've made the world a better place.
Thank you for your service and sacrifice Jim God bless you

Truly enjoy the military story's and he's collection of die-cast vehicles.
that's a wonderful thing sharing a love of collecting with someone from a different generation. it's a bridge to bring people together. and now the things you've learned from him. not just Diecast, will be with you forever and I'm sure, will be pasted on to others. just because of little toy cars!!! that's why I collect also, to connect with others!!! thank you and Jim!!! AMAZING life and collection!!!

I feel like very tiny right now...... You what?!? Collecting since 55? Wow!! And an actual ww2 veteran! Outmost respect to you Sir. Cheers. That second car the blue one very rare was made in Portugal. The irony me watching this and spotting that, ah ah the, odds of that.
2 of my favorite things WW2 truly the greatest generation . MY grand father was in WW2 D+20 on He only spoke to me once about the war. See he was a medic and just did not talk about the war. Not many of tease guys left. My grandfather pass in 99 . Its cool this guy lives next to u. His collection is truly epic . Bravo for putting it out there. So often tease great collections we all put together largely go unseen. RUclips let's us see inside the mind of collectors .Great collection Jim
thank you for sharing Jim to the World ♡
From one Trucker to another...From one collector to another....Major props sir! NEVER TO OLD TO COLLECT.. neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Thanks for your service Jim.
Clicked for the collection, stayed for the storytelling
Jim thank you for your service. My grandfather trained in England and was in the 1st armoured devision which ended up being the 4th and Later the 5th. He served in Italy. Your collection of military vehicles is impressive and one of a kind. Thank you for sharing it with us. Truly enjoyed. Looking forward to seeing your trucks. Awesome video!
I would love to sit with him and hear of his 4 years in ww2. Bring his past to life again.
WOW amazing collection.
This guy needs to have his own show on PBS.
Wow what an amazing collection and an even more amazing guy. Thanks Jim for letting us take a look.
Sir, u have surpassed and redefined the word "Collector".
God Bless, long live !
Great guy with loads of life stories to be told. I love how vague he is about the toy collection yet remembers the war like yesterday. Memory is recall, and his mind is still there in 1943. Seriously had all my favourites that I owned. The Pink Panther Mobile, Space 1999 craft, UFO interceptor, Bond space shuttle, Dinky Stalwart, Centurion tank and trailer, Rocket firing halftrack, Kubelwagon and field gun. My dad bough me something new every 2 weeks, I had most of the best Dinky and Corgi's around. I destroyed them all in play. What a wasteful kid I was.
Very Kool and across the street.Man don't get any better than that keep Em coming enjoy all your stuff
I am a Canadian Law Enforcement Officer, and I am delighted to see your collection, Jim. I have about 200 of the same cars and trucks in My collection.
He's a real collector and a very decent person
About 30 years ago in the market of old things in Moscow, I heard from a dealer of car models: "Buy models! Collectors live long because they don’t want to part with their collections." Thank you, Jim, for turning this joke into the truth. Thank you from all the collectors of the world who, enjoying their hobbies, want just as much as you can to prolong this enjoyment. And you prove it)).
