- I get asked one question more than any other, and that is what sim racing wheel am I currently using. Today I’m going to answer that question by showing you what I think is the best sim racing wheel combination you can find on the market today.
I think the Fanatec CSL DD wheel base and the McLaren GT3 V2 wheel rim is one of the best racing wheel combinations around, and in this Fanatec CSL DD review I'm going to show you why.

I've ordered the new CSL Elite pedals myself this week but the load cell i have to preorder as well. I still have the CSL wheel base for the PS4 console. As far as everything else i have to wait, especially for the new CSL Elite wheel v2! The DD pro imma have to wait as well so i can afford it. I only use 60% FFB from wheel base and adjust the in-game ffb multiplier above 100% setting. Its more than enough torque. Works alot better that way.
This is a terrible idea. You should be using 100% FFB from the wheel base and adjusting in-game ffb multiplier down (e.g. 60%) to your taste. Doing it the way you described will very likely cause ffb clipping.
@@DrR1pper this was my first attempt. I have since tried all kinds of recommndations and nothing comes close to my own settings after months of experimenting. Here are two of my settings and can be used and fine tune for other sims like raceroom or F1 games.

🔥 great video, quick question, are you using this with the GT Omega Apex wheel stand that you did a review of back in 2020 cause I'm thinking of getting this wheel and that wheel stand. if so, does the wheel stand still hold up from that review to this wheel base?
Thanks! Yea the Apex wheel stand does hold up and works well with the CSL DD. It’s not what I used in this video but I did test it with the Apex and the 8Nm boost kit. Fitment is nice and easy too as everything aligns 👍🏻

Is there any difference in terms of durability and quality between Moza and Fanatec? Which one would you prefer?
Build quality across both is very good. I've not encountered any reliability issues with either across the past few years. Its more down to personal preference on which ecosystem you prefer.

I got my wheel just a little time ago, and the gearshifts are quiet now. The P & N is still loud.
I have ordered mine for 3 weeks now. Order still processing. A big let down so far. PS. All items are on stock.. yet no shipping..
Similar situation with me, ordered 2 weeks ago, but the P1 v2 Wheel is on backorder until Feb 6th, so i might have to wait a lil bit more than you. What bundle did you choose?

For a beginner? Yea it’s a good wheel that will last you a long time. It’s more impressive than beginner wheels such as the G923 so should give you extra momentum to race more often 👍🏻
Hello, given the imminent release of the new fanatec dd and dd+, it makes sense to sell the csl dd 8nm and buy the new one? Does the csl dd will receive the new true force software? Thank you very much

Do you need to upgrade the hub on the wheel to get the full ffb with the gt dd? as you would need to with the dd1 or dd2.
Hey SimRacingSetups great video mate ive recently bought this rig myself similar to you but i have the formula v2 rim red version never owned fanatec gear before so still getting used to it have the 8nm one for xbox but have an issue be nice if you could do a video guide on how to use it on f12021 but for some reason i currently have the latest firmware for it the 434 package from fanatecs website and when i try and turn up the ffb etc settings on the wheel and in game yes its more powerful than 5nm it shakes and rattles like mad for me from side to side making it near impossible to race with before it breaks my arms so had to turn the settings down to around 50 so i dont know if thats the right way if you like but i dont know what to change on both of the wheel and base to stop it ? But ive been told because its doing that so violently its not fully supported or that compatible for games such as f12021 from what ive been told so is that why and true ?

@@nynms203 its ok mate not your fault just strange why it does it on xbox ive been told because its not properly supported for xbox thats prob why but ive also been told to give it a factory reset with in the windows settings as that clears any previous drivers it had that could cause the issues so ive done that but not tested it out yet at a higher ffb setting quite comfortable around the 50% mark especially for f1

The Fanatec site or Digital Motorsports are probably your best bets. There can be quite a wait. I had to wait around 3 months for my CSL DD after ordering

Would it be dumb to buy this kit with the v2 pedals to play Forza? This would be my first wheel and pedal setup
Not dumb, would still be much better than using a controller or belt driven wheels.
But TBH Forza is pretty poor compared to the likes of AC, ACC, Dirt Rally 2.0 etc. when using quality SIM kit when it comes to immersion, realism, feedback etc.

im on xbox and consitering buying a dd I saw you can change the mode to xbox doews this fix the display issue or does it just not work for good?

Xbox has limited functionality for peripherals. It’s why a lot of buttons and inputs on steering wheels don’t work fully on Xbox but do on PS5.

It only works on PC and should work automatically. On Xbox it doesn't work at all I'm afraid.

I have this wheel and base and find I get a creaking noise when cornering etc . Any ideas ?

Yea. The plastic quick release does creak and clunk sometimes during use. There is some play in the plastic QR causing noise. This isn't present in the metal quick release with the pin inserted.
Can be fixed with a bit of electrical tape. Google Fanatec quick release electrical tape
@@SimRacingSetups I am debating whether to buy the v2.5x with the metal qr or the qr on its own. The price difference with when u have the McLaren and qr metal isn't much compared to the v2.5 x. Thankyou for your reply.

Coming from a tx-rw i can say its an upgrade. Way smoother, more feel. More in toch with the car.... Mclaren wheel coming tomorrow...loadcell pedal also coming. Till then I use tlcm.

If you get the CSL DD instead of the officially licensed for playstation DD Pro, you can get the drivehub by collective minds to use it on a playstation 4/5. I use it on ps4 this way

Why even make these titles. We know the DD1 is a better wheel. Needed or not it's better and the McLaren wheel is the ultimate budget wheel. Build quality is so so. Surely not THE BEST setup. RUclipsrs please start a better standard without the stupid clickbait shit.
