You are welcome. I hope it helped. The main thing is to get your mix to the right texture. Just wet enough. I show how to mix in a wheelbarrow in another video. If you mix in a wheelbarrow, mix everything dry then add water. If you have a cement mixer, add water first then the dry stuff. Water, sand cement, etc. And don't overfill the mixer.

Hi, I've watched all of your videos and they are very informative. Your work is outstanding. I have decided to build several stone walls around my house and completed the first stage yesterday. I was not sure exactly how to finish the tops by now see how you have done it hand formed. Excellent. If you ever come to the Bahamas, look me up. I live in Freeport and am using coral rock dredged from the harbour. It's smooth surfaced but very irregular in shapes and sizes
    Thanks again
    Jim

Beautiful work! You've inspired me to try a bit of stonework. The video on making mortar was helpful too! Thanks!

@idusclothing not always, depends on the situation. Usually the ground behind a retaining wall slopes down a little towards the wall but there is no hard and fast rule.

@HowToHydroponics Thanks, I will be doing that soon. But I am a bit too busy right now. It slows down a bit in winter and I will have more time and energy for video making.

Thanks, Jim, glad to help. Maybe one day you will put your work on youtube? I would like to see it.

Do you always level the land where you put the retaining walls?

When you make the ledges...caps? Do you angle it a bit for drainage?

Yes, a little bit. So water doesn't sit on top. On a retaining wall, I usually angle it a bit back into the planter so that the plants have a tiny bit extra water.
