And he can't read music, AND he's still a phenomenal composer if not more impressive because he does this with beats, timing, rhythm, phrasing, time signatures, ALL in his head and he remembers it as he's playing! He creates/composes this beforehand as you've oft said and has clearly thought out all the parts, when he'll return to a particular pattern. And finally, now I have it, for Jorge it's all about pattern and texture and since he can't read music those are his guide posts. To carry that all in his head is phenomenal.
One of the craziest things about this performance to me is actually at 3:40 of your video when he has his left foot splitting the off beats of his right hand, so we get that awesome sextuplet cymbal sound. Super hard to do with all the extra responsibilities he has going on.
Hey Zach! Nice to hear from you! Love the comments. This dude is something else. Those rhythms like you mentioned are crazy hard but not for this guy. Hope you are doing well!
I'm baaack! Seeing this again with you Bob. You say @ 9:17 "Look at that weight moving." but did you notice, a split second after you said that, AND without missing a beat, Jorge flicked that weight with his fingertips, back into the 6 o'clock position from our vantage point/his12? His awareness while doing all this other stuff is mind-blowing!
With his left foot he’s playing a turbo crasher. He usually plays it with his right foot, interchanging from the bass drum. You can see it on the foot cam in his cover of Chase N Status cover. When you mentioned tambourine I remembered that he put one on a hi-hat so he could get two sounds at the same time, very creative guy indeed.
I've been following him forever and I have seen him progress from being a talented but green drummer to a musical beast, step-by-step, this is no flash in the pants, his rhythmic musicality is a wonder to watch and listen to, and the fact that he is a sympathetic and humble guy adds to his aura.
Into The drone, me parece una canción muy buena
Really appreciate your analysis always, he is definetly creative and stick with his subjet is what make him great, he dont change his way of playing drums by who said what, he do what he want to do and I like it free without restrictions.
Hello Bob, love your analysis. Also what he's doing with his left foot, it sounds like a tambourine while he's playing the rest of his arrangements. Really great drumming.
He is indeed creative. The down side is if he was playing in a concert, I don't think he could rearrange his kit for various songs, or maybe have the stamina. I like his double stick usage. I'm sure some other drummer has used the same technique but I haven't seen it (then again, I don't watch a lot of drum covers). It's fun to watch his enjoyment when playing. I agree, he isn't just doing a standard cover, he is originating them to his preferences and taste.
I’m sure there have been others use the technique but I haven’t seen it until him. I’m curious what’s coming down the road for him. He just got a band together and out out a single. That was a surprise. I thought he would just be a RUclipsr. Should be interesting to see what comes of this. Hope you are doing well man.
@@bobcieslinski Interesting.....a single that can be of what genre, what focus on instruments, is it an instrumental? Definitely should be interesting!! I'm good, one more day off then back to work :)
He was chewing ice cubes to cool off (from the cup behind him). I think this was recorded sometime last summer during an extreme heatwave in Spain, you can tell how much he's sweating. And this might have been his 10th or 20th take that day (he records through the entire song several times until he gets it right, he practices for days if not weeks, to be able to get a perfect take). Even still, this take was not “perfect” either, as the weight on the snare moved too much at one point (he moved it back with his hand while playing, as you can see). The second drum stick fell on the floor tom when he let go off it, but he kept playing, and it fell off, without disrupting him, lol.

When he's using two sticks, he's isolating a separate twitch muscle.

I totally agree with you.

He sure is. Amazing musician.

I love how humble he is. He is just a regular dude.
Also the second snare in his left side that does not have the weight and therefore creates a different sound. So creative
Want your mind blown check out his 4 pedal video.

Yes.
That's exactly what it is

@@guygourley2411sorry Guy somehow this one got by me. Glad you are back to work.
Regarding playing live, it’s possible to rearrange with a drum tech. Then again, he doesn’t play like this live so it wouldn’t be necessary
Unbelievably hard to do.....
It's a weight on his snare
Who is George?
Forget I said it. My bad.
Jorge
Uhhhh, is he eating something at the beginning? Or chewing gum? As if nothing was happening.
He might have been.

@@kelleychiang4231 there is no doubt his work ethic is why he is so good.
