    Spent 2 days trying to install just one plank, after my friends got me started. For two days I tried and tried just ONE PLANK, watching many videos, trying different angels, using a different plank, changing the angle of the mallet. I just wanna take all the planks and toss them on the grass and light them on fire. This exposed my lack of patience and lack of skills, but I did remove all my floors and baseboards with zero help. Sometimes, u gotta know when to say when. And if it’s taking me two days with zero progress, it just means the rest of the floors will be off…hire a professional contractor or this guy in the video when it doesn’t feel aligned…and don’t bring down the value of your floors…props to all the peeps who can do this.

    Hey Josh, great video! I recently tackled a similar project in my basement using LifeProof vinyl plank flooring as well. I can attest to how easy the click-lock installation is, especially on a concrete subfloor.
    I went with the "Sterling Oak" color as well, and it looks fantastic! The attached underlayment really helps with comfort, especially since we spend a lot of time down there. I did run into a bit of trouble around a couple of door frames, but your tip about undercutting the drywall was spot on-it made the installation smoother.
    One thing I learned the hard way was to really clean the concrete before starting. I thought I'd vacuumed well enough, but some dust ended up creating little bumps under the planks. If anyone’s doing this, make sure the surface is immaculate!
    Thanks for sharing this detailed guide; it’s super helpful for DIYers like me. Looking forward to more of your content!

    I have vinyl plank flooring throughout my house. I love it! It's the easiest type of flooring to install. It gives the appearance of wood flooring without the expense. Plus, it's waterproof, unlike real wood flooring. For future reference, the side of the plank that you called the "tongue" is called the "groove" and the side you called "flat" is the tongue. You do such a good job with your camera work and instructions. Very professional.

    • @TheExcellentLaborer
      @TheExcellentLaborer  8 месяцев назад +1

      It is really nice stuff I agree! When I saw hardwood floor, it’s called the tongue and groove side. That makes sense in this case. It is not the exact same as hardwood floor. Thanks for letting the audience know. Good luck with your project!

    Im not planning to remove my baseboard trim before installing my lvp. However, the baseboard trims are installed high enough off the ground to where i can easily slide the lvp under if needed. To account for expansion, I plan to just lay the lvp edge flush to where the baseboard ends so there'll be atleast 1/4-1/2 of space to the drywall. Ill cover this up after with shoe moulding. Would this method work fine if i prefer to not remove the baseboard trim?

      No. If water floods the floor it will get trapped between the planks and plastic and never evaporate. Without plastic the water can slowly seep through the concrete floor. I have had the washing machine overflow twice and never had a problem after shop vac sucked up most of the water.

      The floor Planks have it already attached on these planks - That's the black surface underneath the planks that you see in the beginning. Some planks don't have it and that's when you need to provide a moisture barrier.

If your gonna buy "fake" flooring why would anyone consider laminate over vinyl plank? Basically the same price, it actually is waterproof, stronger, and doesn't expand and contract in different seasons anywhere ( tested as only 1/4 of how much laminate does so basically none) as much as sawdust made products lol.
