I'm purely basing my comment around straight line performance because the 720S and Pista were designed for different purposes. The 720S is a direct competitor to the 488GTB not the Pista. It's like people trying to compare the AMG E63S with a stock F90 M5. AMG's S is the equivalent of the BMW Competition. The M5 Competition is quicker than the E63S. Many people claimed that the Senna was quick as a GT3 race car around a track but Chris Harris put both a GT3 Mclaren (based on the 570S) and the Senna around Silverstone and the race car was about 8s quicker. but why? The Senna has about 300hp more, has massive aero, massive carbon ceramic brakes and is almost as light as the GT3 race car. The difference? The Senna was on Trofeo R track biased road tyres. The race car was on soft racing slicks. Put racing slicks on a Senna and I'd put my money on it being a bit quicker than the race car. No doubt the Pista is an insanely quick track car, but it if you are going to compare like for like on a track, you need to wait to see how much quicker the 765LT is.
Then you realise that the 720S isn’t even McLarens track focused car… the Pista is gorgeous and supremely capable but the 765LT will be in a different league. Mclaren are cheats though. They underrate the 720S power considerably. Dyno tests prove the 720S has 690bhp at the wheels and that equates to around 800bhp at flywheel.

Anyway, it's easy to find his videos with the car. All car guys should know that the 488GTB is the direct competitor to the 720S and the Pista to the incoming 765LT. If you want to get an indication of how quick the new LT will be compare the Senna and Pista in a straight line. The drag from Senna's massive wing slows it slightly, so the 765LT won't be far off it's acceleration time. No one is ragging on the pista, it's an awesome car and it's brilliant engine has won multiple awards. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I had the money but facts are facts, they don't care about our feelings or brand loyalty.
