When the 488 gtb came out and that it was the replacement to the 458 Italia and with the 488s performance it was impossible to ignore the fact of a speciale version but here it is with blistering performance times

Nothing can be proved unless a reviewer plans to dyno the car and NEVER be given a press car to review again. And Ferrari being spectacular to drive doesn't mean they don't tweak their press cars. Please try using some logic in your next reply.
Sunvan ChavaskA Motor Trend literally said that in last years best drivers car Ferrari messed with the car and was able to take two seconds off the track time one of the things they did was put tires on the test car that one cannot have on the stock car
So I watched this hoping for "on the limit" but what I saw was not worth my time... How boring!

It's not just, but, it's so.., it's one thing.. Given... They really achieved... It just gives you... However.. But with that little.. But..
Honestly? You call this refreshing? I'd say this is a crap review. It's really just a 20% track review, however given we are not provided an actual on the limit drive except for some non professional throttle control. It just gives you a really disappointing feeling to think you are about to enjoy a review yet it feels pre-scripted whilst you are limited by Ferrari to deliver a true review.
Enough said and done.. Back to Carfection

I see so many of these being wrecked all over the world by the world's rich who absolutely should not have cars like this. Very few can handle that enormous power.

Why bother being uncomfortable and cramped in a unreliable Ferrari when you can go faster in a Tesla Model X? Plus it’s cheaper and needs no polluting & expensive petrol? Also you don’t look like a plonker!
Glideman faster in a tesla? Can I have some of what you're smoking? Faster from 0-60mph maybe and that's it, then you've got no top end and no handling

It's a gr8 looking machine, in my opinion. But, I still don't think this car is quite as quick as the 720s and 911 GT2RS.
Just read lots of comments. Safe to say, everyone would be silenced on both sides once someone does a 720S vs 488 Pista comparison. Everyone will know the results, and the Ferrari fanbois will have no excuses left. And then just wait until the 720LT arrives in a years. Best of luck Ferrari!
you can get a much more dramatic and fun track car for less than 30K
That review wasn't bad but felt incomplete.

This series of Ferrari starting with the 458 always needed at least 700 hp. Judging from the reactions of car reviewers, the real fun starts at 700 hp and 700 lb/ft of torque.
Just a few years ago it was impossible for a two wheel drive sports car to achieve a sub 3 second 0 to 60 mph because their was not enough traction from just two wheels. Yet now the 2 wheel drive 488 Pista achieves a 2.85 second 0 to 60 mph. I suspect it has to do with that front air scoop that pushes the nose down to the ground and enables the back wheels to gain better traction and thus less wheel slip.
KNOW HOPE they don't really need 700hp just yet. The GTB would have had probably 620hp and possibly NA if mclaren wasn't adding more boost to get 50hp added to their cars every 2 years.

Alex Fu Nope. The 720S has been seen doing a 9.7 Quarter mile and 0-60MPH in 2.5 seconds. One of the fastest RWD cars ever. The 9.7 is actually the fastest production car quarter mile in the world. Until the new Rimac arrives.

Oshan Liyanage It's not. The Senna is the P1 replacement. A 750LT has been confirmed for 2019.
iLibertyWalkedMyFoot CT The Senna is NOT a P1 replacement at all. It's just another project. McLaren themselves said so and everyone who drove the Senna says the car is fast, probably faster on some circuits but the P1 is still on a different league. Also, a 750LT is not confirmed yet. The only thing confirmed is a three seater car as sort of an homage to the McLaren F1 based on the 720s chassis.

You presented a 30 second circuit clip after the onroad review and you had the impudence to name the heading- new ferrari ´´ON THE LIMIT´´ after using up exactly half of the revs with your traction control fully on which technically in all honesty makes it simply a blatant lie. auto express should use your better drivers for these cars and let the amateaur drivers do their reviews on these modern ipads with wheels. Where are Steve Sutcliffe, Matt Prior or Owen mildenhall. The best autotesters have come out of this magazine. Why let the reputation decline like that

All that work and it only just competes with a 720s in numbers and we from experience Ferrari over estimates their numbers and this is McLarens road going car, can you just imagine how much better the 720s LT is going to be, great car Ferrari but you need to step up your game

Well done for wearing sun glasses. Pretty much all other car reviewers don't. When you're driving in the day, wear sun glasses. It makes a world of difference.

The regular 488 is brilliant so this 488 Pista is extra brilliant. Ferrari's are insane again. They have been boring for a while.
I'd take the naturally aspirated 458 Speciale over this any day of the week.
