Its crazy to think that some people believe Ferrari's success is not deserved, as if anyone who bought a Ferrari is just an idiot, a poser and nothing more. It is sad to see so many people doubting the performance, acting as if there is something fishy going on. Well there isnt. Ferrari's latest cars are sublime. Ferrari should be commented for the machines it has been building, especially lately. They are on a roll. Accept it and move on. The Pista is an absolutely fantastic car that deserves to be up there with the best of them, no doubt. But I seriously have trouble believing that it's objectively faster around a/this track than a P1. The P1 weighs almost the same, with a better power to weight ratio, has a more modern chassis, produces more downforce, and has hybrid assistance for a wider torque cruve and better torque vectoring. I just simply can't fathom the Pista being faster on the same tyres. Ferrari would surely need literal magic. The computers on-board the Pista are certainly amazing, but I can't see how that would make up the difference. I know the P1 was tested on worse tyres, but also maybe the P1 just doesn't suit the driving style of the guys at Evo? Not hating, because these guys are good drivers, but maybe the P1 is a bit more 'particular'?
Is the driven wheel geometry inside Ferraris tolerances as normal customers would drive them or did they just go wild for this track? If i had to guess id say its the later!
Fearless Dreams Ferrari engineers 👨💻 are annoying. They give you so many limitations on what the journalist can actually say, supplying one car for track work another car for acceleration test etc. Ferrari will NEVER lose in a magazine comparison. They want to control the narrative and because of the allure and their cult following and the threat of not being supplied other cars they can. They even ban members on ferrarichat due to showing the pista losing to a 720s in a race. Ridiculous
Basically the Pista has the aluminium chassis of the 2015 488. It managed to obliterate the gt2rs on every track (even when they both are on cup2Rs). Besides it also destroyed Mclaren 720s. I mean a Pista with cup2 tyres,l destroys a 720s with Corsa tyres and a Pista with cup2r tyres destroys a Mclaren with TrofeoR tyres. True, Ferrari has slightly stickier tyres, but Mclaren has a carbon tub and an engine that probably produces more than 800 hp. Besides Ferrari has the best balance when it is driven at its limits, a better handling and a better engine sound than the 720s.
@@БукерДеВитт-л7з dynamo test bench shows that the car is more powerful that it is advertised to be. It has a better power/weight ratio than its competitors but a 50 kg weight difference alone does not explain the advantage it has over competitors like the gt2rs (that has roughly the same power output, on paper)

@@anonlincracing2484 porsche and ferrari though offer different cars with different engines , different layouts , 2 seats and 2 plus 2 , mclaren will offer a car with only a rwd twin turbo v8 , I want to get excited about mclaren but I just cant . A mclaren p1 or senna in essence are pretty much just upgraded 650s or 570 gt . It's the same recipe for every product
This is a 488 Pista review as it should be!
So wild,that’s insane.
Need to compare all these cars as closely as reasonably possible. That is roughly the same conditions and the same tyres. (Same driver might be asking a bit too much) This would go some way to giving a closer comparison. Anyway, fantastic car and review. IMO if any of us get to drive any of these top cars within that top 5-10 second window we'll be having one monumental driving experience :)
SF90, Pista, F8 Tributo, 720S, Senna, GT2RS, GT2RS Manthey Racing? And with optimal tyres?
@@streamnoremorse Exactly :) The leader board would vary slightly around different circuits but the driving experience in each would be unique and mega !!
Was that turbo lag though? Every corner Sutcliffe was on and off the loud pedal.
Just seemed like too much of a bloody animal really! That engine probably has the least lag out've all these modern turbo supercars....especially the McLarens
@@Mostlycars888 I'm sure it does have, but maybe it's a bit like leccy steer or drive by wire throttle, people have become used to it is what I was thinking. Seemed a very strange technique.
Faster than a P1 on its best tyres?!? Woooooow
The Cup2 R is actually better. There is a test out that proves it on 1st lap.
Where is the mic that rec the engine...i never heard a sound like this form a 488
Sutcliffe! used to love his reviews for Autocar. Very detailed without sounding boring, unlike the new guy.
I think the BAC Mono needs some boost like the Pista, what yah think?
EVO's uploading regular vids. the world is alright after all
Steve Sutcliffe you are the best.
Nice sound
epic drive Steve expected from Pista tht it will redefine the V8 era
love his reviews . him and chris harris.
Incredible! Sure the McLarens are great machines and in a straight line drag the 720S can beat the Pista, however, the Ferrari is a superior car on the track(Pista). To beat the GT2RS is quite an accomplishment. Is there a link to the Leaderboard times?
GT2 RS wasn't on a R tire like Pista. Neither was 720S. Now that LT is out will Pista be called superior.
Has such a happy shark or happy snake look to it
That sound.. ❤️
Wow..The Pista is clearly faster on every circuit than the huge winged gt2 rs which every one bang about so much..And the 720s has like 800hp and a carbon tub so it's no suprise it's that fast..
And yet the 720s is slower on every track, it is faster only on a straight line
Why are you saying that 720 has 800 power, where does this information come from?
Can you please get a F8 Tributo on to compare. Apparently, it has 10% more down than the Pista. Also, keeping the Ferrari vs McLaren is a great comparison.
having to take a hand off the wheel to shift.....I don't get mounting the paddles like that
Can't help but notice the seating position is a bit high!
I dont understand why there are so many doubters when it comes to Ferrari. I mean there are haters who still believe Ferrari makes crap cars that are just overpriced fiats. Ferrari never ever cared about being the drag champion, hence why all these shallow "car enthusiasts" out there only care about 0-400... Ferrari should be commented for the machines it has been building, especially lately. They are on a roll. Accept it and move on. You can still like and prefer your McLarens and Koenigsegs but if you are actually a true car enthusiast, you wouldnt insult this great and Historic brand this way.
Impressive! But I always take these Ferrari times with a grain of salt. Behind the scenes I'm sure there is 20 Ferrari engineers and a couple of spare Pistas.
Dan Butler @ watch the Magny record video, with a customer car
😂😂I m sorry but that thing with chris is getting old, always when a Ferrari is faster, I wonder is it a press car🤔😂
@@droptopdan actually at Magny Cours the Pista was a customer car and the Mclaren was a press car, and Ferrari obliterated it.
That’s why you should look at Sport auto or auto Bild times who actually dump and weigh the cars they get
Yes, more Steve!
@4:33 and @4:56 and @5:28 and @5:35 And @5:48 did you take your hands of the steering wheel to shift UP?
Yes you did....Why arent the paddle placed on the steering wheel??
Why do they still do this??? It just does my head in
From a big Ferrari fan...perfect review for a perfect car, seriusly THE perfect car for a trackday...BUT, the sound...i miss so much that sound...and if i can buy just one supercar in my life i want a big sound engine...lfa, 430 scud, mercedes amg gt, lamborghini huracan...
If you hear a Pista in real life you will not complain about the sound believe me.
3 tenths off the Rxc!! Nuff said 🤯
Awesome!, but the shifts looks scary and not perfect. When you have to let go of the steering wheel :(..
Nice ...Are you planning to test Senna?
Is the driven wheel geometry inside Ferraris tolerances as normal customers would drive them or did they just go wild for this track? If i had to guess id say its the later!
Ferraris team of engineers is what Chris Harris whistleblew on Jalopnik and got blacklisted for.
QuickQuips 10 years ago get over it
Absolutely great circuit machine. Gearbox is incredibly FAST !
Where has Steve been all this time??? Get him back more often!!!!
Imagine the police in their vaxhall astra 1.6 diesel trying to catch this on the road? Even the helicopter would struggle lol
I am a huge fan of FERRARI, but I can't help but wonder what did the engineers change before the lap.
Ridiculous
@@drepark2294 my point exactly...
Why are you saying that 720 has 800 power, where does this information come from?
@@БукерДеВитт-л7з dynamo test bench shows that the car is more powerful that it is advertised to be. It has a better power/weight ratio than its competitors but a 50 kg weight difference alone does not explain the advantage it has over competitors like the gt2rs (that has roughly the same power output, on paper)
@@icydelight3693 How many sources does this confirm? If this is true, then Maclaren is real crooks, I remember the same situation was with Nisstan GTR, the Japanese also underestimated the real numbers.
@@БукерДеВитт-л7з I seem to remember that it was Motortrend testing the Mc to see how much power it really produces
Beautiful
Which would you choose?
GT2RS / 488 Pista / 720s
Pista
720s
488 Pista
Pista
This thing sounds better than the current GT3 race car.
Like if you want to see more of Steve Sutcliffe on this channel.
So the question is if it's a "special" Ferrari press car??
It was fast in every test that was made till now💁♂️ i don’t think it’s possible to build that many press cars
Imagine the new Tributo with pista specs...
It did that time because there was a Ferrari team of engineers on hand to set up the car for that track on that particular day.
Do you want a Kleenex?
Woww... Nice sound
Sound matching on this video is a fail! Made it hard to watch....
My neighbor owns one of these. Absolutely stunning car to see and hear in person.
