You may consider heat treating (hardening) that piece. Heat it until red and quench it in oil should help it from mushrooming.

Having seen every episode of Forged In Fire I’m not sure why I hadn’t thought of that LOL! They did send me a new set so I’ll definitely heat treat those before I change them out.

Good for Pats to at least make good on their product . I just bought a Pats for my 1953 Ford Jubilee I hope it fits

They did. No complaints on the customer service and really no complaint on the product as I was probably using it outside its intended purpose. But I think you’ll enjoy it on the Ford hitch!

I knew they would send you replacements, I did have a concern that they were made out of aluminum. I have seen a guy plasma out hardened steel latches but even he didn't have this problem, I've been running mine for about 4 years without issue. I do have a sickle that puts upward pressure but I guess it isn't enough to damage the locks.

Yeah they definitely tried to make it right. Kudos to them for that. These disc mowers are pretty heavy, and I’m sure I’m rough hay fields didn’t help any. I do like it more than the regular style quick hitches.

I ordered a hydraulic top link after watching your top link video. I told the guy i was thinking about using a pat’s link. He suggested using a Euro Style Quick Hitch Hook. Very similar to pats but attaches to a ball on the hitch pins instead of the pin itself. Thus allowing the attachment to rotate and shift around instead of bending the retainer arm as yours did.

I’ll have to check that out thanks for the tip!

Good to know. I just ordered one and then saw your video. I don’t plan on doing any offset work, but it would be nice if that lever was tough enough for it. But the harder they make it, the more brittle it is.

That’s true. I’m sure there’s some give and take. For regular 3 point attachments it shouldn’t be much of an issue.

If your any good with metal. Simply cut some latch’s out of some let’s say O2 tool steel or out of an old leaf spring etc. Do a little heat treat action and it’ll never give you another issue!

I was thinking about that. I have a buddy with a cnc plasma. Actually my brother runs a machine shop so that might be the better option. I just haven’t decided what metal to use but tool steel would definitely work! Thanks for the tip!

I wonder if putting a bead of hard surfacing would solve that?

Good video thanks for letting us know. This won’t apply to me but it’s a great warning.

Thanks for the video, I'm just surprised that the locking levers aren't made out of some harden steel.

Same here. It’s a good concept. Just needs some improvement.

Just install a 3pt to Skid Steer Quick Hitch and be done with it. Those 3pt quick hitches are like deciding between VHS or Beta tapes back in the 1980'S

    • @arrowjmfarms
      @arrowjmfarms  5 месяцев назад

Yea there’s a bunch of them and none of them work for 100% of attachments.

@@arrowjmfarms eBay has 3pt to SSQA frame for $250, free shipping. I bought (1) adapter plate to get a better picture of how system works. I've made simple implement frames to fit skid steer quick hitch out of angle iron with cleat that simply bolt to the implement. Did add hydraulic top link. Once done, it's nice that both front bucket and rear 3pt have the same mount. Good luck,

Hard to find tractor implements that use a skid steer attach 🤦🏼‍♂️
