  • Are you considering the Pat's Easy Change system for your tractor's 3-point? Then this is the video for you. I have taken mine off to see how the ends of my 3-point lift arms look after two and a half years with the Pat's system on them. I'll show you what I learned, how to install them, and share some tips for alignment and use.

    Your timing is providential, Martin! I just received my Pat’s in yesterday’s deliveries and will be installing it this week. I chose that system in large part based upon your earlier review and comparison with the quick hitch. All of your videos are clear, concise and articulate.It is pretty obvious that you spend a great deal of time planning, executing and editing each one. Thanks for all the effort you put into them! They’re super helpful.

    Have the Pat's on my tractor and I run older implements that are not all made to the new standard. It saves me a bunch of money buying older used implements so that hopefully I can buy even more. The other big advantage is I run a post hole digger sometimes and Pat's is the only quick change that you can do that with. I have had my Pat's now for about 6 months and my tractor for a little over a year. I no longer dread switching implements either. Thanks for the video Martin and keep them coming.

    Just put my Pat’s system on my LS today Martin, with the help of this video and the one Tractor Mike did on the same install. Pretty straightforward after watching the videos, I had no surprises and you made everything so clear that it was a cakewalk. I installed the PTO extender just to keep the driveshaft happy, and while I picked up the extended top link from TS just in case, I didn’t need it. I’ll hang on to it anyway as I may add an implement later that needs it. Took me a little longer than most to finish the install as I serviced the PTO shaft too, watching your awesome video on that. (Best PTO maintenance video on the planet, thank you!) Sure was easy to hook up the bush hog after installing the Pat’s system, worth every penny. My brother went for the quick hitch system on his Kubota, but he told me it is rarely used as it doesn’t fit many of his implements. But then there are folks who swear by them, so there are definite advantages to each. In my brother’s case maybe I’ll send him a Pat’s system for his birthday this year, lol. Thanks for a very useful, very informative video! 👍

    As soon as one of your videos shows up on my phone I watch it. As is typical with all your videos. Very well documented and nicely explained. I got pats quick hitch a few months ago because I have one implement that isn't QH compatible. The other great thing about Pats over the QH i used to have is that it made hooking up the PTO shaft 100% easier because the QH would block access to the tractor PTO.

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  4 года назад

      Thanks, Terry! Yes, a quick hitch gets in the way of hooking up the PTO, but it also means you have to get off the tractor anyway, negating one of the quick hitch’s biggest benefits. Thanks for watching!

    I'm 57 and just got the Pat's system. After the first use I was kicking myself in the butt for not getting it sooner. It's more versatile than the boxy quick hitches and weighs much less. I don't think any of our implements are by the same manufacture so a quick hitch just wouldn't work but Pat's Easy Hitch can use em all.

Also, since I use my backhoe a lot, it’s much simpler to remove the 3-point hardware because the Pat’s stay on the lift arms. Went out to install mine and found that my 1960ish MF35 has tapered lift arms….🤨 which are only 1 3/4 inches wide where these are supposed to mount. 😕 My fault entirely for not measuring before ordering. Sent an email to Pat’s, seeking advice on shims or adaptors. Failing that, my next call will be to Yesterdays Tractors to see if there are “straight” arms available. If all else fails, my neighbor is gonna get a nice Christmas gift for his Kabota L2550. 😊

      @@DIYMyWay I actually ran into a problem yesterday when I was doing it. I need your opinion. My Kubota lift arms were about two and a half inches. it looked to me like with the larger shim there still was a lot of slack so I put two of them together to see how it would do. Unfortunately, it was just tall enough that I couldn't get the main pin in and when I tried to force it, I totally screwed up that main pin when I pulled it out. I don't think I can get the two shims apart so I think I'm just going to call Pat's and get a new main pin and some more shims as well as the hardware that you hammer into it. I noticed you had a Kubota tractor and I was wondering what you thought if just the taller shim would be enough or if I should get the shorter shims and put two of them together on each side since it seemed like there was a lot of slack? Let me know what you think if you get a chance and I hope you had a good Thanksgiving this past week. I know for most of us it's been a very difficult year, but I do you enjoy watching RUclips videos to help me be a more informed tractor owner on our family property in Western Arkansas that we escaped to from the city on a lot of weekends.

      @DIYMyWay  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jim! Sorry to hear you are having trouble! It’s okay if there is some slack in Pat’s hook bodies with the shims as long as the shims make the hook bodies pretty close to being in line with the lift arms. The U-bolts will firm things up. However, since you have to call Pat’s anyway, they can give you the best advice on what to do. Good luck!

      @@DIYMyWay I talked to the folks at Pat's easy change and they are sending me out some more parts at no additional cost and no shipping fees either! I just explained to them how I made some mistakes and we are going to try 2 of the smaller shims on each side in order to get rid of any excessive sway. Since I was barely off with a small and large shim, I know two small shims will work without an issue. Also, she agreed with you that any sway left should be eliminated by the u-bolts. Thanks for your help and I will get back with you on an update once I get them in which will probably be next weekend or in two weekends from now.

    I am still trying to decide if this is the way to go. Could you please tell me how thick the actual hook is? (the dimension from where the pin sits to the implement. I hope that makes sense.) • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  4 года назад

      I think it’s about 1” thick. If you have the County Line carryall frame, it’s a tight fit but it can work if you use half inch or more furring strips between the back boards and the frame uprights. Or you can carve out some of the wood of the board behind the pins, which is what I did. Thanks for watching!
