This is why I follow GWT. Not just a salesman, but takes time to go through all these tip and tricks explains the good and bad and gives honest feedback on demo products to help people make the best choice for their application when the time comes to make a purchase. Great job!
Great video Courtney! The 3 holes on the tractor are more important if your tractor is equipped with draft control. Ask Tractor Mike did a good video on how changing the top link in the three holes affects the sensitivity of the draft control mechanism. If your tractor is NOT equipped with draft control, then the 3 positions simply affect the angular characteristics of the implement when raised and lowered as you stated.
Remember folks...turn the tractor off before putting your hands near the PTO.
100% that PTO will absolutely tear your limbs off
😂 if I needs to be said you shouldn’t have one right? Lol
As someone new to tractors, I found this info very helpful.
Thank you for the valuable information. GWT always provides accurate,up to date information to its viewers.
Great tips, after 20 years of owning a John Deere 4400 I learned a few things from you. One was I bought a new Summit TX25 after watching your review.
Another great video. I always learn a little something.
Great information. Especially the PTO quick link and Speedco recommendation.
Great tips. I will check out some of the features on both of our compact tractors. Thanks
Great video , taught me a few things ,also! Thanks !!
Awesome! Thanks Courtney!
Nice one. I learned a couple of things.
Don't forget the hydraulic tilt link! I put a top and tilt link kit on my 4320 and LOVE it! I even mentioned you in a little video I did on it.
Thanks. Good info.
So Wise , Thank You
For hooking up implements without a quick hitch sometimes the best thing to hook up first is your top link once you hook up your top link you can adjust in or out and that will move your lower link pins so it makes hooking up your lower pins easier
And if it's something like a rototiller, you can rock it forward and back by moving the tractor a bit to line up the lower pins.
Great tips. So far I’ve been blessed with being able to store all my attachments on flat ground, in a covered garage, but I’m running out of space. The best advice I can give is always store your attachments and implements on flat level surfaces, otherwise it can be a nightmare hooking them up.
In another lifetime I used Alpha-Accord quick hitch because it would pick up equipment 30 Degrees off level forwards and side ways. I think some one still makes them but don't know who. Good luck.
Great bunch of tips. What I've taken to doing is stopping about a foot short of my implement, hooking up the PTO shaft, then backing in to hook up the lift arms and link. That extra little bit of room makes a lot of difference in trying to get myself between the tractor and implement. One thing I can't figure out is why they have a collar that you have to pull back to slide it forward. You're pulling the sleeve in the opposite direction. I had a Bush Hog 286 about twenty years ago that had a push button release on the tractor end of the driveline. My new Bush Hog has the sleeve. That push button was way easier to deal with. Maybe if I ever have to replace the front u-joint, I'll get a push button yoke too.
Great tips
GREAT tips!!! Thank you. I just found your video--I subscribed. 🙂
another good segment. good advice about connecting the front of the PTO shaft first, then the back. I've struggled to get my brush hog hooked up in the small space the 1026R has. I'm gonna have to try that next time i hook up. I might have to get that PTO link. i went to the web site but wasn't clear if they had a fit for the little JD's. they did for the Kubota. i suppose its the compact system for the less than 40 hp tractors and PTOs
I was hoping to learn something but I'm sure others did. That three point adjuster lower limit on the John Deere reminded me of how hokey the one on the 1025R was. Although the Kubota MX5100 is a more basic tractor the adjustor clamps to steel and does not get out of adjustment as easily.
That PTO tip, is gonna be life changing 😂
Would like to see a step-by-step and tips to get a brush hog cutting level and floating so it does not dig in when turning or going over uneven terrain. (Basic no quick connect, etc, then if any add-ons make it easier) Thanks for all the great content.
I use a small pair of vise grips to "set " the lever.
My pto on my auger you can take off ive took it off once and hooked up the tractor first it made it a lot easier till I learned about putting the pto in neutral that was a complete game changer this is my first tractor never even been on one before I bought it so all a big learning curve but im getting there
On my tractor the stop on the 3pt can limit travel up or down. I mostly use it to limit the lift when snowblowing to limit the angles of the PTO shaft yet still clear the ground sufficiently.
Like the oldies, but like to see some knew
Good video. Wish I could order stuff from him, but shipping is killer to Arizona...
U shld say in-yer-title, tht ths iz merely..., 1-BIG-COMMERCIAL!
a pry bar makes a big difference when hooking up
Courtney, could you plrese do a review on the Solis H24. Plus and minuses. Cause its the same tractor as the Summit made in the same plant for less money.
If you are having trouble lining up the PTO connection, lift the implement off the ground. This will allow you to spin the PTO shaft to help line it up.
Great video. I just ordered the easy wheel for my compact John Deere. I’ll be going to AgriSupply to check out the PTO Link. My tractor came with a receiver hitch that makes connections pretty tough. Life is too short to not get this system. Thanks for the tips!
any advice for anyone looking to start a business renting out 3 point attachments to acreage owners
Quick Hitch Tip: Some implements have adjustable 3-point arm pins. Thought my e-hitch did not fit my tiller at first, then noticed that the 3 point pin width was adjustable on the tiller.
Can I pull drag implements from a lower link draw bar?
We had the cat 1 or cat 2 change out on the lift arms
I had a good friend who lost an uncle to a PTO accident. Old tractor (no fancy sensors) , nobody else around , family found a bloody mess hours later when he didn't come home . Tractor was still running. He apparently got a sleeve caught, tractor didn't care that he was attached.
Great tips always something to take away from your videos no matter what size equipment your working with
Real important tip: be very mindful of raising the implement while the pto is running. In many cases if it’s raised too much, the shaft will start to bind & possibly self destruct. That’s why I have a three point lever stop above the lever & adjust it so I can’t raise the 3 point too high(implement dependent). Some implements it’s not too critical, but with my tiller it’ll bind if I raise it too high.
I fight with hooking up the pto every time. I have to try putting my pto in the mid position and see if I can turn it. Thanks for the tip
The PTO quick attach does help quite a bit. It's much easier to align the pins on it rather than getting the splines to match up.
I tried it what a game changer. Thanks so much for the tip. I used to put a big screw driver in the yoke and try to spin it.
Well, a problem I have is I bought a 24hp Branson a few years ago with a backhoe...no problems with the hoe, but when it is removed, I cannot use the 3 point for hooking up implements....the problem is the frame for the backhoe which interferes with the side 3 point arms when they are installed. I need a way to use a quick hitch that allows the side arms to bypass the frame. In other words, the side arms will not lift high enough for me to lift a small brushhog, finish mower etc without hitting the frame. Any suggestions of a product welcomed.....I live in East Tennessee.....thanks
when you add a quick hook up using PTO Link to an EXISTING implement that is already on Quick Hitch do you need to make Further cuts to the Shaft????
Sometimes, but not all the time. It really depends on the attachment and tractor.
"Check your shaft!" 😂
0:50 Sigh I am waiting for someone to spray or brush on some graphite on the PTO shaft.
Noticed that too. Too dry.
Two other tips, don’t forget to grease up the balls on the 3 point hitch as they can get sticky and not want to move well.
On the Del Marino PTO hook up, you can easily get the shafts to spin to attach the PTO - BUT - the PTO link makes it SO MUCH easier!
I grease the pins on my attachments in the quick hitch. That little bit of roll they do lifting and lowering could wear them out metal on metal.
Man, I thought I was a shoe in for the golden grease gun giveaway after finding the hidden image!😢
Here is a tip for a quick hitch. I didn't do but wish I would have weld pieces of rebar in your quick hitch to take up the space.
The stop on my 3 point vibrates loose quite frequently. I wind up plowing when I have my mower set high because the arms drop too low after I lift the deck up to cross a berm or ditch. I guess my stop is more of a pause.😔😒🤭.
Good tips
Are you referring to the stop that you can set so you return back to the same height every time?
@@dougkrause8036 yes, I think I am cranking it down good and tight, but it always seems to vibrate loose, going from a 6 inch cut to -1/2 cut.🙄🤬
@@williamgaines9784 you do know you can have it in the adjustable position and then turn it clockwise then relook it and it will be tighter?
@@dougkrause8036 I will look at it tomorrow.
One thing you did in this video that You did not touch on.
You left the Quick Hitch Latches Closed and used the Spring loaded feature of the Quick hitch.
I see so Many quick Hitch Videos and they Leave the Latches in the Open position. then get off the tractor to close them.
Mike M.
ok i did not know that about the pins lmao
Love your Bible verse at the end.
Good info. But slow down & explain a little more for an old guy?
I took all the chains for the plastic shields off awhile back. There's really no reason for them. You can easily stop the plastic shield with your hand and there's less wear on it if it's spinning at the same speed as the shaft. Plus - those plastic zerk fittings are a pain.
Instructions always lose me at flat level ground.
Rocks and debris become a friend and a balancing act for alignments.
How fragile those things become on this wobbly planet in between use.
"Check Your Shaft"
That's what she said!
Not sorry.
