Love the first one, then the last one. The double bunks are important for me as my kids are all tall and wouldn't fit a single bunk. My youngest daughter grew out of her single bed at 11, had to buy her a queen bed, she's 5'11", my son is 6'4".

Good job guys! Some of today's newer RV's are equipped with a ducted AC system which is advantageous in hot areas such as Florida and the desert states. Without the ducted system, the bathrooms are more like steam rooms or saunas. I have seen many RV tour videos and the only one that has highlighted the ducted AC system has been Airstream. The Lance commode would pass the elbow test when you utilize the bathroom door’s double use. When opened all the way it actually latches to close the bathroom and bunkhouse off from the rest of the space. Yes, the back door is there but if you lock it, you’ve got a very nice size bathroom area. I’ve got that model and it’s great for me and my wife with our three kids. And yes, that third mattress goes on the bottoms for a third bunk.
Thank you for adding that tip! Good to know there is a work around. Glad you love your Lance. It's a beautiful RV! Thank you for watching our RV tour and commenting!

I’m not really big on the Murphy bed covering the sofa plus the fact that the bed has to be put up every morning. If the bed didn’t cover the sofa, maybe the camper would have to be a little longer or something, but someone could sleep on the sofa as well as the dinette.

We got our first bunk house when I was a kid & Mom hated it. She would be cooking & she had to move to let us kids get to the bathroom. Also had to change the couch into their bed. We got older & traded to a walk around bed in back with kitchen up front with standing table & 2 chairs, also a sofa. Me & my brother would stay in a tent while Sis had the couch. The Murphy bed could be a problem if one person wants to sit on the sofa while the other wants the bed. Besides I want the bed alread made because I’m not in the mood to set it up when I’m tired. When you was showing the first trailer I was thinking of my neighbor who retired & was looking for their first RV. I told them to make a list of what your needs & likes are. Are you going to be a weekender or a traveler. What Months are you likely to camp in & where are you staying the most if it be the mountains or the desert. There’s a lot of things to consider & I could go on an on but he needed a bed that fits him & didn’t want a bed you had to crawl in or over each other. The biggest complaint he had was that the main door opened up into the master bedroom. This was going to be their home away from home & didn’t want to invite people into their bed room. Besides he could go outside come back open the door while his wife is changing & some stranger happened to see her. She could lock the door behind him & he could knock but that is something you have to get into the habit of if the main door opens into your bedroom. It took them awhile to find the RV they liked. I’m starting to like the Hybrids with the pop out tent beds & kids could stay in them or even guests but I would still have a master bed you can get into bed on both sides with out making it. It could still be considered a couples camper & have the ability for more guests if ya want. If ya don’t have guests you have a place to store stuff.

Seems like the Grand Design TV could be lower. But, other than that I like it...especially the bathroom and the sofa plus dinette. The Jayco's hinged bins are neat! Something different. And, I like the bunk that folds up. Lack of a sofa is a bummer. I like the Lance's interior and the no Murphy bed, is a nice difference. My favorite is the Lance but I like the price of the Grand Design.

Boy a really hard choice! I just honestly can't pick a favorite! All three are very nice and have their +'s & -'s. All 3 did a great job with maximizing storage but some were better than others with accessibility. It would be worth paying a few extra $$ to have drawers under the dinette benches and refrigerator as opposed to black holes that you have to stand upside down to reach. I particularly liked the two that allowed the lower bunk to raise up to give access doors for taller items. All three had nice kitchens and bathrooms! I always have concerns with camp queen and folding mattresses as I know that trailers have bad reputations for mattress quality and buying a non-standard mattress forces you to buy from a camping supplier (I assume) which I would believe would also be less than great quality/comfort. Am I off-base with that thought process? Plus, I already own bunches of standard queen sheet sets so I don't like the idea of buying special sheets and bedding. I know you can use just flat sheets and wrap them around the non-standard mattresses but I'm not a complete fan of that. The east)west bed in the Jayco UIs fine for me but if you have a spouse it is an issue for most! The Lance was $$$$ as you mentioned but the cargo carrying capacity was ridiculous! Almost as much as the empty camper weight! If you need to bring a ton of stuff the Lance will let you do it! I missed your mattress measurements in this video, Mike! 📏 Thanks. Susan and Mike!!! I always enjoy your videos and other posts!

Thank you for the information. I have a special challenge that I would think many full-timers would like: A four season travel trailer, with stackable, vented w&d, & generator. Does anyone know if there are any out there, or maybe used ones that could be modified that sleep 5 & are under 8,500 pounds? Thank ❤ 😊 🙏 you!

As always, I enjoyed watching your reviews, but these do seem pretty big for a “small” trailer. What about ones like Apex Nano, R-Pod, Sonic Lite or Surveyor Legend? When I did my research last year, they had small trailers with bunk beds - did they not make the cut for the “best” because they were cheaper and crappier?
Hi Annie, We made this video to show off different types of multi-functional bunk beds. And we had access to these three trailers to do so. With the inventory shortage, we just can't find every rV that would fit into a category... Fiberglass RVs for Sale or Trade
Thanks for your review. However, can you please answer me a question. It seems to me the majority of the RV trailer manufacturers wants to put the dining area on the side in which your watching the neighbors campsite instead of you own. Do you know why it’s done that way . Thanks again

We finally got our 1st trailer 2 weeks ago. We should have been more prepared when shopping around. We were soooo exhausted. Wish there was a video showing us how to shop for a trailer and how to plan the day out and how not to get sneaked in by the sales man and what the heck are those warranties they try to add on towards the end in case you get hurt and need a helicopter.....lol We got the jayco slx 264BH. So we have the bunks like the grand design. Do you know where I can purchase fitted sheets for those double bunks and the funny rounded corner? I cant find them anywhere? Thank you.
Hi Y v, I would suggest trying Tochta Mattress. They make corner cut mattresses and sheets to go with them so they can make a sheet set for you... Here's the link to their site: goto.rvblogger.com/Tochta-Mattress Try using RVBLOGGER7 for a 7% discount. Let us know how you make out! Mie and Susan
Where's your tape measurer? That's why I watch you and not some stupid salesman. I want to know the dimensions of the trailer or motorhome to see if I fit.

I find it interesting that the term small has migrated to basically medium sized trailers. “Small trailers” should be in the tent site fit category especially today with site availability at a historic low to zero. Making the larger number of smaller sites a better choice than the limited number of jumbo sites. A typical 21ft US mass produced trailer is 23-25ft long bumper to tongue. Add tow vehicle length and your not fitting into the typical 24-30ft tent site. Vs typically you can shoe horn a 17-19ft bumper to tongue trailer and tow vehicle into most typical tent sites. Small trailers 12-19ft, medium 20-27ft, large 27-34ft and stupid jumbo 34ft and up. There are definitely two types of RV use today which are dramatically different in style and use. There are the “campers” staying in state and National Parks. Then there are the mobile cottage RVs that stay in parking lots outside most State and NP due to being just way to big.

Those work great for ppl who travel with a family .But all of them are way to big for me . I did find out from my son that my full size Tahoe can handle about 4000to 6000 gross weight but I dont need to haul anything that huge cos I am alone . And I wouldnt have anybody but maybe a dog with me . So I wouldnt need anything bigger than 16 feet or 17 feet tops . And not all of us have familes either . I also have prostheics and rods in both legs . But I get along ok and yup I drive my truck just fine .

There isn't, aside from Class A's that have wheelchair lifts is all I have found. Some toyhaulers could be used. Bish's RV Reviews did a review last week of a small toyhauler that was the closest I have seen that could feasibly work if you had some mobility to use the bathroom. A missed opportunity I. The RV industry!

The Grand Design is a great floor plan but just under 6,400 GVWR can be a little heavy for some. Lance is one of the travel trailer manufacturer with a great reputation for a quality product. I guess their price tag reflects that. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting Bill.
The second..(Jayco Jay Feather 171 BH) MSRP was $42k. However, the starting price for that RV has dropped considerably. That's the bad thing about including the current MSRP. Thanks for watching and commenting.

It could still be considered a couples camper & have the ability for more guests if ya want. If ya don’t have guests you have a place to store stuff.

I believe that 2nd mattress on the top bunk goes under both bunks to make a triple. I have seen some with a like setup.

FYI the "extra" mattress for the Lance is intended to go on the floor under the bottom bunk - to convert the "storage" area to a 3rd bunk.

Hi Annie,
We made this video to show off different types of multi-functional bunk beds.
Hey Scott,
We're not sure actually, but we will try to find the answer!

We finally got our 1st trailer 2 weeks ago. We should have been more prepared when shopping around. We were soooo exhausted.
Wish there was a video showing us how to shop for a trailer and how to plan the day out and how not to get sneaked in by the sales man and what the heck are those warranties they try to add on towards the end in case you get hurt and need a helicopter.....lol
We got the jayco slx 264BH. So we have the bunks like the grand design. Do you know where I can purchase fitted sheets for those double bunks and the funny rounded corner? I cant find them anywhere? Thank you.
Hi Y v,
I would suggest trying Tochta Mattress. They make corner cut mattresses and sheets to go with them so they can make a sheet set for you...

@@RVBlogger Thank you. I found what I was looking for.

Hey Ruby,

Anything that has handicap accessible
There isn't, aside from Class A's that have wheelchair lifts is all I have found. Some toyhaulers could be used. Bish's RV Reviews did a review last week of a small toyhauler that was the closest I have seen that could feasibly work if you had some mobility to use the bathroom. A missed opportunity I. The RV industry!

1st one was nice but to heavy!!!!!!
Lance is nice!!! But waaaaaaaaaaay to expensive and definitely over priced big time!!!!!!
The Grand Design is a great floor plan but just under 6,400 GVWR can be a little heavy for some. Lance is one of the travel trailer manufacturer with a great reputation for a quality product. I guess their price tag reflects that. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting Bill.
$71k MSRP on that second one WOW
The second..(Jayco Jay Feather 171 BH) MSRP was $42k. However, the starting price for that RV has dropped considerably. That's the bad thing about including the current MSRP. Thanks for watching and commenting.
