Hi Wendy, I left a comment about two years ago with questions to John on the last video uploaded to the channel announcing the book’s availability. I got a reply saying there would be a upcoming video made with Deeno that encompasses and answers the questions I had. Unfortunately that video never did get uploaded. I am wondering if you know if it was made, and if so, can it be uploaded posthumously? Have enjoyed John’s photography and spirit since I found out about him and and his work years ago. I have learnt a bunch from him and wanted very much to continue to. It would mean very much if the above mentioned video could be found and uploaded. I feel a sadness receiving this news. Hope the Free family finds solace and grieves well with John’s passing. Hope John passed knowing in his heart that his energy was an inspiration to others.
John was a passionate photographer. He was genuine and I will never forget him talking about how the Nikon F3 is a great camera and it has the viewfinder 100% coverage and how anything less messes with your mind. RIP John!!!!!
Very nice tribute to John Free. I've being following him for years. Since the first time I saw his videos, his passion. Was one of the 1st to buy his book and have it sent to Ireland. Stood in the spot where he took the photo of the double decker bus going over the bridge in the '60s while he was on honeymoon with Wendy. Thoughts & prayers for his family.
John and I messaged a few times, about photography, about his life in the military, about his work with cars and many more things, we were Facebook friends, I've watched all his RUclips videos and he was like a mentor for me in photography (without him knowing it). I love his videos on street photography and I like his video about the 5 F's a lot. The 5 F's (Find, Figure, Frame, Focus, Fire) has been my "life boat drill" also, and I fell I will miss John a lot, even though I never met him in life. Rest In Peace, my friend. Thank you so much for your great tribute to a great human being.
John Free was such an early inspiration to me. Can't tell you how many time I've watched and rewatched his youtube videos. So much to learn. Nice job shining on light of him!
His videos led me down the rabbit hole so many years ago now. I also found his spiritual transmission to be inspiring. I now wonder if his granddaughter will take up the mantle -- models are often strong photographers. Thanks!
love how i can see my wifes on lofts that she managed at 6:44, i remember following him for a while, his work is beautiful! i have been shooting since 2007 and street probably since 2009.. spent allot of time walking through downtown la shooting just like john and would think about him sometimes. Fantastic video :)
Ahh man I can’t believe this, John was my first huge inspiration in film & documentary photography. Loved the videos and purchased myself an F3 to start my own journey. Thanks for the knowledge, stories and inspiration.
Massive respect for shining a light on this brilliant man. His work deserves so much more attention and I'm so glad I got a signed copy of his book when I did; I only wish I would have been able to take a workshop with him.
Thanks for making this video. I was following John Free's photography since at least the last 8 years. He was not only a great street photographer, he was also a very inspiring person and was able to explain others really well all about the secrets of street photography. R.I.P John !!!
Beautiful Tribute man... so many sentiments that I share in this video..... and I can totally see his influence in your work for for the first time....
Such a wonderful tribute. I haven't heard of him or his work before, but I will absolutely do some research! His words and his work have me goosebumps 💗
Yeah it was real sad news when I heard, he was a great guy. I realised after all these years how much his philosophy influenced the way I approach street photography.
I ordered a copy of the book. Because of you, Matt Day, Alex Kilbee, and others, I have become a collector of photography books. I love looking at the images and reading the words. They inspire me to pick up the camera and shoot something.
Heck yeah!! Thank you Hashem for shining the light on John Free! Got his beautiful book about one month before he passed away. Highly, highly recommend. May his beautiful soul rest in peace.
I never heard of his work, will look him up. Thanks for sharing, being a documentary photographer myself since 1989 i know how hard photography can be on the street especially these days with social media giving street photography a bad wrap.
Oh no, I met him about a year ago in Venice on a Sunday evening. He was nice and asked me where my film camera was :) I was shooting with a Fuji xe4 and a 27mm lens. He was very inspirational.
Wow this man was a legend. I remember watching his videos early on too. He's a real bleeding heart social documentarian. I'm going strait to watch his videos again now. His passion is just a level beyond. Great work Hashem for making this. Rightly so, you put a lot of care into this. Thanks
I remember watching his videos and being inspired by his philosophy. His channel had been quiet for some time but I’m surprised to learn he recently passed away. RIP M.Free and thanks for the motivation

The American government should be presenting him posthumously with a congressional medal. What a human being.
