He is genius because he is not spoilt by the techniques, methods and theory. He just picked up the camera and went to the street. Pure and natural. Love it!
I can't count the times I audibly went "oh my god" when some of these photos came up. Unbelievable stuff, truly makes everyday scenes look like timeless pieces of art.
Knocked it out of the park here boys, really enjoyed that. Paul is very talented, didn't know he was only shooting a couple of years and would've thought he was a veteran with the quality he's producing. Looking forward to the next in this series Mike.
Thank goodness Paul found street photography because he’s created such creative and compelling images in a short time. Thank you for producing this brilliant video and introducing us to this talented photographer.
That was a joy to watch, I have to agree he does need his own series. You could learn more from him in a hour than a tear with your lecturers. He's got soul.
Wow I just discoverd this video some days ago and I keep comming back to it. Amazing story about Paul but also a very professional piece of documentary! Thank you for sharing. A piece of art in itself. It is very inspirational in all sorts and forms! Paul's story and photography proves that it is never too late to discover and enjoy photography. I sincerely hope to meet you and Paul once upon a time in London. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Oh wow...I watch a LOT of RUclips about photography and photography related content and this one was just (smh in wonder) inspirational in a way I've not seen before. The ebullience, the practical, genuine take on street photography was refreshing. I've heard some of it before but sometimes you hear it from someone who resonates with you and it all just clicks. (Cliche I know) But thank you for this video. Truly thank you. Paul Harrison is inspirational and 'real'. Time to make street photography my regular routine.
This video made my day. This is so inspirational! The force to exercise the motivation that sometimes lacks. I love the way you share your success but also the struggles and fears found along the way and how you overcome them. And you share it in such a humble way. Thank you so much for inspiring us.
Just watched this again tonight after spending a great four hours shooting with Paul in Rochester a couple of weeks ago - top guy and i love his style and look forward to the gallery zine when its ready
Super images! I was a pro, but age, heart, now retired. Out as often as I can! A smal camera, the phone is becoming number one! All one does is look and frame. Paul, good hunting, your colors simply perfect! Framing is Everything! Bravo. Look forward to more, zine etc. All the Best.
I love the analogy of never knowing music, and then one day walking into a record store. It has happened to me only a few times; like in 1973 when I saw balloons outside of a Licorice Pizza in North Hollywood, on Victory Blvd. And when I went inside they were celebrating two things; David Bowie's Birthday, and the release of his "Pinups" album. It changed my life and my musical tastes forever ! He became my favorite artist of all time and opened my eyes to many new types of music. Many years later I discovered another life changing artist: Koji Tamaki , and his group at the time; Anzenchitai. A group of Japanese musicians, that again changed my musical tastes and my life. I found a sound that I had not known, and not only that, they at the time of my musical "discovery" already had 4 or 5 albums out. It felt like I had unearthed a big treasure chest full of all the things I really needed in my life.
Amazing stuff. Really good. Loved the episode. Bought the book he recommended. Followed Paul on Instagram. Bought a house next to the National Gallery.
New follower here 🙋♀️ I followed Paul Harrison’s link from Instagram. This was a lovely video, well done to you both, I really enjoyed it and second all the positive comments in here.
What a brilliant video, Mike and Paul. Paul's approach and advice resonate so much with me. So many things to absorb and learn from Paul and his photography process. Thanks for making this video and bringing Paul's work to our attention. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I absolutely love this, as a youth worker (previously) I used to make up these kind of stories about people too, and thinking of the street as a place of theatre was a key concept too, so, im feeling inspired and energised to take my camera out 'onto the streets' - thank you so much for this!
I relate with his story so much. Discovered street photography in late 2019, in my late 30's. Bought a Fujifilm camera that Christmas. Covid a few months later, but I've been shooting constantly since then. Thanks for sharing this! Really enjoyed it.
Mike, this is an excellent episode, Paul was very kind and open about sharing his journey and viewpoint, many many take aways. Excellent stuff. That bookcase at the end. Wonderful.
What a great video Mike ! This guy is a inspiration especially to people like myself who only took up photography more seriously during the pandemic too. I love the direction your channel is going Mike, it’s a ‘proper’ photography channel. So many out there are simply full of POV and long winded gear reviews. Keep it up 👍
I love street photography and visiting art galleries but I didn't know how to combine the two, now I know. One of the best street photography videos I've ever seen if not the best, thanks for sharing your incredible content
Wow....this is one of the best "street photography" videos I have ever watched. Great guy, wonderfully talented and able to spot that extraordinary scene, works hard and long to get his unique shots........this is great street photography and a huge step up from some of the more mundane work that you see on youtube. I also really appreciated the way you took the back seat and gave the entire video to Paul. You managed to bring out some great stuff with your interview and never once did it encroach on the main subject.....very well done
Great video! The fact that Paul took so many good photographs in such a short time speaks volumes about where he may be in 10-20 years. Matt Stuart said it took him about 2 years before he took his first good photograph.
I've been a photographer my whole life I shoot every day for work and leisure all genres I watch vids on here but I don't study others work I can see it and appreciate it but sadly with me it's generally just a glancing interest then I'm out doing my own stuff. I've never heard of Paul until today have to say I'm a huge fan now. Fabulous video chock full of cracking shots. Nicely done Mike cheers
@@MikeChudley welcome mate would like to see more of these love the format. I watch a fella inn NY called Paulie B he does a series called Walkie Talkies, fascinating entertaining and educational stuff, If you've not see it check it out.
WOW! thank you Mike, for sharing this absolutely fantastic informative video with Paul Harrison. I was so connected with his interpretation's and technique's of street photography I had a smile of true respect throughout the video . Totally inspired... saved it to watch over and over to help me with my street photos in the future . Thank You....
This was such an inspiring watch, fantastic job! His outlook and approach to his work... well its amazing and his advice, even for me who's been photographing for over a decade rings true and I've taken away from... Great video and look forward to the next!
Great interview and wonderful introduction to Paul and his incredible work. Truly one of the best YT segments/profiles I’ve seen to date (presenter and subject). Very inspirational. Well done!
Thank you for this inspiring video. His images in the museums are amazing, in only few years of photography, this is a great point ! You're channel is one of my favorite about street photography, all the best 👍🏻
A truly inspiring video. I just started photography two years ago and is still trying to find the "groove". I must say Paul has a keen eye and "absolutely fabulous luck", which I think is one of the success factors. After watching this video, I am ready to pick up my camera. Go out and shoot!
Good to see the galleries are still allowing photography with a camera rather than jumping on you and demanding to know what you are doing. Did similar in the 60's & 70's and was followed by staff occasionally - most were OK once they knew you were an amateur but were completely opposed to flash - which can damage I am told. Film then didn't have the ability of high ASA/ISO in those days so results were truly grainy - great to see such enthusiasm mixed with great skill.
In the case of the National Gallery, they changed their rules in 2014. It wasn't so much that they specifically wanted to allow photography but more that an inevitable side effect of them introducing free wi-fi was going to be more smartphone usage in the gallery, and how that would make it a losing battle to keep a lid on people taking photos with their phones.
@@The_paulharrison Right. Thanks for that. Have found that some security ignore phones but query cameras on their premises. Thanks again for the reply.
"Why would you not be out all the time?" I completely agree with that statement for shooting street. You're watching and documenting the flow of life, what's not to like? ;) Also, wind or rain, I just love being outside in the elements.

This guy has an instantly likeable attitude and demeanour. What a fantasticly enjoyable video.
A man with great observational skills, patience and passion.
The image with the young lady and her long pony tail stood, admiring the painting of the horse is superb imo
Yeah that's a great photo.
