Actually Britain did during 7 years war about 2 years, it was the occupation of British Manila altho these whole scenario is irrelevant to the disputed territory. The disputed territory is about Sulu sulatanate having the control all over the Sulu islands, southern Palawan, and North Borneo.
But dont get me wrong, I still think it is suppose to be part of Malaysia.

@@itsourtubenow9729 well... it was only part of the treaty between the sultanate of Sulu and British empire on 1878, but it stopped already since 2013. Plus even if so, the Spanish empire doesnt have sovereignity over the north Borneo territory, only southern Palawan and Sulu islands were annexed.

    • @lindsaymartinez5341

@@user-tv4ih2kq6r You do know Philippines was not completely captured for over 300 years
Sultanate of Sulu joined the PH government after the second world war
And BTW the British only rented the North Borneo from the Sultanate of Sulu and guess what?
The Britished turned over North Borneo to the Malaysia instead of the Philippines

    • @user-tv4ih2kq6r
      @user-tv4ih2kq6r 3 года назад +5

@@lindsaymartinez5341 Firstly, its 333 yrs. Secondly, why would Britain turn it over to Philippines, which is a Spanish Colony instead of Malaysia which is a British colony? The treaty pretty much just implied that they (north Borneo) already agreed to be part of Britain and the "rent" is just an agreement that they will be funded for the development of the state, could be requesting for its autonomy as well but that is already beyond agreement.
Plus the sultanate of Sulu (north Borneo, Sulu islands, and southern Palawan) and sultanate of Maguindanao (south western Mindanao) were Spanish-Dutch buffer states in east indies until Britain came so both sultanates were annexed by Spain except for the north Borneo which is part of British east indies. This isnt even debatable, the Sultanate of Sulu was clearly just splitted by both Colonizers not either.

I don't think that Kuwaiti-Saudi one is an actual dispute. Saudi Arabia has an official dispute with the UAE, but not Kuwait. Upon further research, both islands are currently recognized as part of Kuwait. Umm al Maradim was the first Kuwaiti place to be liberated from Iraq's invasion

In the 2008 state exam, we were asked to answers questions regarding the recent clash between Cambodia and Thailand. I am Cambodian and somehow my race, Khmer have had a lot of conflicts with Thailand and Vietnam. A lot have changed over the years but the scar is still new. The bleeding just stop some years ago. Vietam invaded or liberated cambodia in 1979 and only left in 1989. Before that, we already had over 300 years of continous war. The same with Thailand. The last small clash was in 2008. From a very young age, we were taught to remember the "empire" we lost to the Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. We were taught to remember the pain which makes some students become extremist. Well, now that I grow up, I can only blame my own country for its own downfall. We can only learn from it and keep moving forward. One thing I am sure is that territory is no longer as important as it used to be unless it provides political pretext which can be exploited to advance the interested party's agenda.

dispute was not from 1997, but from 1962. According to sugaoly treaty with british, all the western side of mahakli river belong to india and eastern side to nepal.
Wow, a sensible talk in an Indian mainstream media where the guest is allowed to express his opinion? Dear Indian friends, the very long issue can be summarized this way (apologies for the length):
India in 1962: Hey Nepal! we are fighting a war with China and since your military presence in Kalapani and nearby bordering area is minimal, can we station around there for the period of war to monitor Chinese movement?
Nepal: Sure, we have the best of relations and if it helps in your defense, why not?
India: Thank you. we are establishing 18 military camps in Nepali land bordering China.
Nepal in 1969: Hey bro! the war is already finished but your camps are still around, could you withdraw your forces?
India: Okay! (removes 17 posts, but remains in Kalapani and controls Lipulekh area because it is strategically too significant to monitor China) Nepal: Kalapani?
India: (to then King) Don't forget you are economically too dependent on us, also we can seize you from power by using the revolutionary forces. You remain quiet, you aren't using that area anyway. Nepal after democracy in 90's: Hey bro! now we are a democracy and we now have access to historical evidences and facts, could you withdraw the army and settle the issue as the land is on the east side of river Kali?
India (Under Gujral and Bajpayee): Okay lets solve this and all other border issues with help from experts. (Experts reach on agreement in 98% border area except Susta and Kalapani area, recommend it be settled on high political level, remains an outstanding issue)
India in 2015: Hey China, wanna trade from Lipulekh and make Mansarovar quickly accessible? China: Okay! Nepal: But it's our territory and we have been claiming it all along? (sends diplomatic protest to New Delhi and Beijing). Hey bro (to India) let's solve the issue first among us before any agreement with third party.
India: Ok then, No official visit for your PM Koirala (first time a Nepali PM does not make an official visit to India) and a blockade!
India in Novemeber 2019: New Political map released (8th edition) with Kali river marked well inside it's territory when it should be a border.
Nepal: Yo bro! You say East of Kali is Nepal but it is well inside your territory on the map? India: Oops! (9th edition is quickly released with river's name erased)
Nepal: Let's solve it with foreign secretary level talks, there is pressure from general public after the blockade. This way the relation is only getting worse.
India: We don't care, you are too dependent on us. ( Inaugurates the road during Covid-19 pandemic, despite the construction not being completed and with presence of high level Military and Defense personnels)
Nepal: Come on! at least sit down and talk before doing things unilaterally!
Indian Army chief: China has made Nepal speak. Indian Media: Nepal ki ye aukat ki wo India ko aankh dikhaye, Inhe fir blockade karna chahiye!
Nepal: Ok then we'll issue our own map with disputed territory (Will benefit the increasingly unpopular Oli govt as well as address public outrage due to India's consistent big brotherly attitude) Indian Media: China, China, China, China!

As an Indonesia, I never heard of this disputes and never thought our own government try to claim an islands that does not belong to Dutch 😂 I mean, Natuna islands that closer to Malaysia themself become Indonesia islands because it once colonized by the Dutch 🤔 If the Indonesia government keep continue the dispute, only a mean time until Aussie supports West Papua independence 🙄

In the kashmiri region or simply former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir there are more then 10-12 ethnic groups unique to the region and in total more than 20 ethnic groups so there are various opinions over who should control Jammu and Kashmir but the biggest ethnic group "Kashmiris" ( note I am also a kashmiri) want to be a seperate Country. Almost 95% don't want to be part of india and more than 50% of those 95% of kashmiris want seperate country and rest want to be part of pakistan but majority wants to be a seperate nation and I am among them.

But Kashmir valley is the smallest region out of the whole J&K state and Jammu & Ladakh are much larger regions but have smaller population who favour remaining a part of India.
Also how do you know that 95% Kashmiris (including the displaced Kashmiri pandits) dont want to be a part of India have you done any survey?

Taking Bangladesh as an example, it's better for you to be a separate nation.
